Lesson Plan

Group: Beginners 3
1. Goals of the 4 hour-session: To make students experience friendship
and union through messages made by themselves, as well as practicing
analysis of situations that ss migh experiment in any moment.
2. Materials for the session: CD from the Read and think! Book, Read and
Think! Book, materials brought by the ss.
3. Procedure:
Warm up:
Objective: To make ss use some of the parts of their body to greet someone;
this parts are not often used to greet, so they will have to find a way of doing
this with any part given by the teacher.
Materials and equipment: Ss parts of the body :P.
Time: 10 minutes approximately
Task 1: Messages of friendship and love
Objective:
To make students experience friendship and union through
messages made by themselves to their partners and relatives.
Materials and equipment: The ones brought by ss: sheets, markers, colors,
pictures, etc.
Time: 90 minutes
Step /stage 1: Students will be asked to think about the person that they got
last class (as the ss names were picked up by their partners) and picture an
image that they have about that person in their head.
Step 2/ stage 2: as they pictured the image in their head, they will have to
elaborate a message for that person, wishing a good firndships and love day.
They can choose any kind of writing (poem, sentence, story), and they will
have to put it on the paper assigned, as well as decorating it.

Step/stage 3: The students will be asked to make some similar messages to


their most loved ones, as their fathers, mothers or anyone else. The first
requirement mentioned will be apllied.
** There will be a Break activity of about 10- 13 minutes, in which the
teacher will make some movements, saying some parts of the body,
however, the students will have to observe carefully the teacher and
imitate her. Sometimes the part of the body said will not be the
correct one, thus, sometimes they will be changed and students will
have to pay attention and touch the part changed by the teacher.
Task 2: Thinking upon how important life is.
Objective: To make students think upon different situations that may show in
any moment of their lives and could be risky for them.
Time: 48-60 minutes
Step /stage 1: Students will think about a movie they have seen. This movie
must have a moment in which a person becomes a hero in one moment. The
movie the ss think will be asked and written on the board. Some students will
have to describe the moment in which one of the characters became a hero.
Step 2/ stage 2: After short discussion, the CD will be played, and ss will hear
the reading about two asian heroes. It will be played twice, and, at the 3 rd time,
students will have to make a list of important facts that were mentioned in the
listening.
Step/stage 3: The important facts or elements will be discussed and some will
be written on the board. Ss will be asked to read the text mentally and try to
understand the general idea of the text.
Step/stage 4: The reading will be read aloud. Each student will have to read a
sentence of the reading, and the pronunciation correction will be made at the
end of the text, to which ss will have to repeat.
** There will be a break activity, in which students will form a circle,
and think about a movement. Each person will make a movement, and
each one of these movements will be added, thus, they will have to
memorize them, and the one that does not make the correct
movement, goes out, till one of the ss is left, considered the one with
the best memory.
Task 3: To analyse a text in some sentences.
Objective: To summarize the general idea in a paragraph.
Time: 30 minutes

Step /stage 1: After some of unkown words mentioned by students are


explained and exemplified, ss will be asked to summarize the general idea of
the text. They will have to make a paragraph with their own words. Each one of
students will have to read their paragraph aloud, so their partners will take
notes of an aspect that they did not take into account.
Step 2/ stage 2: Students will be asked to complete the crossword on page 35.
The first person that completes it will win a special reward.
