Moroni is an incredible example of strength, faith, and perseverance.

It must
have been incredibly difficult wandering alone in the wilderness, continually being
chased by enemies, all the while carrying many heavy historical artifacts. This was
after having watched the moral descent of his people, and failing in his fight to
influence them towards repentance and righteousness. Needless to say, he certainly
had faced incredible hardship, and displayed immense patience in dealing with his
situation.
Some of the most poignant of scriptures come from Moroni during this period
of time. I imagine the charge he received to finish his fathers lifes work must have
been quite a burden, especially given the priority of content he would have had due
to the fall of his society. Their fall must have impacted his decision concerning which
concepts to stress, especially given that their weaknesses would likely be shared by
many in the last days. It is fairly uncertain about just how much Moroni knew about
our day, but it is likely that the Lord gave him as much understanding as possible.
This means that the teachings Moroni would stress in the final chapters of the
Book of Mormon would be concepts insufficiently stressed previously. This gives a
new light on the material in Moronis portion of the record. Indeed, the sacrament
prayers were mentioned, but never fully detailed in the previous portions of the
record. This would prove to be instrumental in the restoration of the church, as even
before the Book of Mormon was fully translated, Joseph Smith would receive
sufficient revelation as to the process and formalities associated with the
sacrament. The sacrament is a continuation of and extension for baptism and the
gift of the Holy Ghost. It enables individuals to more fully and deeply receive Christ
in their lives. Moroni knew this and wanted individuals to have this closeness with
Christ and the Holy Spirit.
The Light of Christ is an incredibly important concept as well. I imagine that
Moroni received it concerning his mission. I say this because he may very well have
blamed himself for the descent of his people. He may have believed that if he
worked harder or was perhaps more diligent as a missionary, then his people may
not have fallen from righteousness. However, in knowing that all individuals have
the Light of Christ and the ability to discern right from wrong, it would alleviate a lot
of pressure and perhaps guilt. I imagine that he included this because it had such an
impression on him.
Of course, the most powerful teachings Moroni could include is that of faith
and hope. These are teachings which likely would have been difficult to believe in
his circumstances. He would have often lost hope and had obstacles which may
have caused his faith to waver. However, he included these lessons because of the
power that both hope and faith have. Im not sure how much he knew we would rely
on these teachings, but due to his own hope and faith, future generations and
countless individuals have found strength.
Moronis struggles and example of perseverance serves as a perfect model
for how we should be in the face of difficulty. Despite having struggles, he sought
peace and answers to his concerns. After having received revelation from the

Father, he passed his lessons down to future generations. All of this displayed faith
and hope in the face of incredible hardship.
