This Rules and Regulations are for the clientele of the library and other library users who wants to avail or use the library. I.
PROPER CONDUCT IN THE LIBRARY
1. Silence must be observed. Idle conversation and other necessary noise must be avoided. 2. Eating, smoking, and sleeping are strictly prohibited inside the library. 3. The library must be kept clean at all times. Littering should be avoided. Waste papers and scraps should be thrown to the trash cans or boxes available or kept for later disposal. 4. Chairs should be pushed back slowly under the table when leaving the library. 5. Newspapers and magazines should be returned to their proper places. 6. Books and other materials should be handled with care. Writing in the books and tearing pages are strictly prohibited. 7. Catalogue trays should be returned to their proper places after use. 8. Catalogue cards should not be pulled out of the trays. 9. The library is an open shelf system. Inspection of users things before exit is part of the normal procedure in the library. 10.Bags, folders, etc. cannot be taken inside the book stock. They should be left near the checker at the entrance. 11.Cell phones and the like should be turned off when entering the library. 12.Any staff on duty has the authority to request anyone causing disturbance to go out of the library. 13.Violation of the Rules of Conduct shall be reported to the Office of Student Services for proper disposition and recording.
II. CARE OF NEWSPAPER
BOOKS,
MAGAZINES
AND
Utmost caution against soiling, disfiguring and mutilating of books
and other library materials shall be strictly observed. Any student who shall wilfully, maliciously or wantonly tear, deface, mutilate, destroy any book, pamphlet, periodicals, manuscript, map, chart and engraving part and any picture on any property of the University Library and who shall take away and carry away with the intent to convert to his own use the aforementioned library materials shall be subject to disciplinary action by the Office or be required its acquisition cost based on the provision on Fines and Penalties.
III. FINES AND PENALTIES
1. For overdue books, the following fines are imposed: a. For reference books, P5.00 a day including Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays and additional P5.00 for every hour of delay beyond 9:00 oclock A.M. on the scheduled day of returning the books. 2. Payment of overdue and lost books a. Payment of fine for overdue books shall be paid at the Cashiers Office. The Official Receipt shall be presented together with the book/s to be returned. b. Lost books must be reported immediately. 3. Misuse of Library Cards. This pertains to the lending of library card to other users, by substituting other picture with those of the pictures of other students. In case where students misuse their library cards, the following penalties will be imposed. a. First Offense : Written Warning b. Second Offense : Suspension of Library privileges for 1 month c. Third Offense : Suspension of Library privileges for one semester
