The first location is for the program files. The default path is C:\Program Files\Electric Quilt Company\EQ5\. The second location is for the project files you will be writing. The default path is C:\My Documents\My EQ5\. (In Windows XP and Windows 2000 where multiple user accounts exist, there will be a "My Documents" folder for each user. Be sure to click the Browse button to verify the actual location to be C:\My Documents\My EQ5\ otherwise you may not have a valid installation.) If you like, you can change both of these default locations, and you can make them be the same folder. For example, you could choose to create an "EQ5" folder for both locations. ---------------------ALTERNATE INSTALLATION ---------------------The standard installation should automatically start when you place the CD in the drive. If for any reason you cannot run this installation, an additional installation can be found inside the "Install2" folder on the CD. Double-click on the Setup.exe file found inside this folder. --------------------------------------ABOUT UNINSTALLING AND REINSTALLING EQ5 --------------------------------------If you uninstall EQ5, your project files will not be deleted. The User Library files do get deleted when you uninstall. If you need to reinstall EQ5, your project files and User Library files will not be overwritten or deleted. -----------------------EXTRA USER LIBRARY FILES -----------------------You'll find additional User Library files for blocks and fabrics on the CD. Copy these files into the same folder as your other User Library files. If you've chosen the default location, you'll find them in: C:\My Documents\My EQ5\User\ Since you are copying it from the CD, it may have a "read-only" attribute. You'll need to change this before you try to save blocks or fabrics in it. Use Windows Explorer to open the folder on your hard drive containing the files you copied from the CD. Right-click on the file. Choose Properties. Uncheck the "Read-only" attribute. Click OK.
-------------------LINKING STASH TO EQ5
-------------------The installation of EQ5 does not automatically link to STASH if you have STASH installed on your computer. To link STASH, follow these steps: 1. Choose Preferences from the File menu. 2. Click on the Directories tab. 3. Click on STASH from the list. 4. Click the Modify button. 5. Navigate to the location of the STASH library files. These files are found in the LIB folder of the STASH CD unless you've copied them to another location. Click on the LIB folder. 6. Click OK. If you have found the files correctly, you'll see the "Not Found" icon change to "OK." 7. When you open the Fabric Library, you'll see the STASH fabrics. If you don't get any fabrics when you click on STASH, then you should reinstall your last version of STASH (don't uninstall) and try steps 1-7 again. --------------------ABOUT THE ONLINE HELP --------------------EQ5 HTML Help uses an online Help Viewer. This viewer uses the underlying component of Microsoft Internet Explorer to display help content in HTML format. To display the help in EQ5, you must have Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. --------------------ABOUT THE HELP VIDEOS --------------------The videos included with EQ5 should have audio.
