Rowe Wallbox CD WB (#p11265)

by general Sun Nov 21, 2010 3:48 am

Hello all got some questions hopefully you all would help answer.Tried some other source with no
luck.
I have a Rowe 100C jukebox and I want to add a Rowe wallette(wallbox) CD WB to it, but have a
few questions.
There is a company that sells them on Ebay used. They state that all I need to connect it to my
jukebox is a 8 lead wire, true? What would the mutli leeads be for?
It appears that I would need a transformer to get them to work? Do these get placed into the
jukebox and then power the wall unit thru the wiring?
Does anyone have the schematics for the connection?
Since the wall unit only has 50 selections and the jukebox has 100 what happens to the selection
options? How does it work?
Any other advise? Thanks

It's been 20 years or so since I hooked one up--so, going from my great--but not too long memory-Yes, the 8 wire plug is all you need to insert into the CCC--the transformer is a "low voltage-25
watt" unit that sits in the phono.
The wall box is able to display either 100 HALF size title strips or 50 full sized ones ( I think--just
like the CD-RN model). The electronics are able to select all 100, all the time. I have no
"paperwork" on it, but if you check, a Service Manual for the wallbox should be available --either
directly from a Rowe Distrib, or re-printed by Victory Glass/AMR. Ron Rich

You could use 8 leads for: 1 pair for left channel, 1 pair for right channel, 1 pair for the signal
"RoweLink', and 1 pair for voltage. I would put the transformer near the wallbox for a shorter
distance.(lower voltage loss) The title pages are the only thing limiting you to 100 selections. Look
at the pages, and you will see it. Like Ron said the bubbler used a double card and you re-number
the pages.I will warn you to test your AC outlets and make sure they are properly wired and
grounded. If not, you will trash both computers.(Use a common 3 light plug-in tester.) The
schematic should be in the unit.

Hello all thanks for the advise/suggestions. So If I understand this correctly, the limitation is in the
display of the cd pages but the unit will allow selection of all 100 cds?
My brother found some older transformeres from a defunked record playing jukebox in the diner.
Were these stamdard volt/watt wise and if so could they be used on the newer model? What is the
voltage I am looking for, 25watts? 28-30 watts?
Thank again Ike

Yes--on the limitation--probably on the transformer-"nominal 25 VOLTS" is what' needed. Ron Rich

You need a 7-wire connection to this wallbox.

Wallbox terminal strip positions:
A.C. Power
Power Com
L CH
R CH
Audio Com
Rowelink A (ORN)
Rowelink A (ORN)
Rowelink B (WHT)

Rowelink B (WHT)
2 wires (18 AWG) for the wallbox AC power of 28-volts. You can use a Radio Shack
transformer for this, Part # 273-1512 or 273-1512B. Use an in-line fuse for safety.
3 wires (22 AWG) from the CD100 speaker output terminals to the wallbox speakers.
Use the E1 tap for Audio Com and the Left/Right E3 taps to the L CH and R CH.
2 wires (22 AWG) for the Rowelink communication. On the CD100, Rowelink connectors
are P10, P11 or P12. At the wallbox, 1 wire to a Rowelink A (ORN) terminal and other to
a Rowelink B (WHT) terminal.
The first wallbox ID is 70, all four dipswitches on the wallbox control board are down.

Datasync, I replied to you on the "other" forum as well, absolutely exactly what I was looking for.
Perfect info to make the connection easy.
Getting the wall box this weekend but the house is under construction so I will not be able to
connect it for a few months.
Thanks for the transformer lead, the person selling me the waalbox wanted alot of $$ for one, so I
figured I would find one on my own for less, but was not sure where. Also my brother may have
one from a old jukebox setup.
Just to clarify when you state :
A.C. Power

Power Com
L CH

Audio Com
Rowelink A (ORN)
Rowelink A (ORN)
Rowelink B (WHT)
Rowelink B (WHT)
Are ther two RowelinkA & B, or is this a double stike?
And when you state:
"The first wallbox ID is 70, all four dipswitches on the wallbox control board are down.", where
/when do you enter the wallbox's ID?
Thanka again Ike

Ike,
No, not a double strike
The 2 sets are for daisy-chaining to additional wallboxes as shown below:
Rowelink
Rowelink
Rowelink
Rowelink

A (ORN) <- From CD100 jukebox or previous wallbox

A (ORN) <- to next wallbox
B (WHT) <- From CD100 jukebox or previous wallbox
B (WHT) <- to next wallbox

Inside the wallbox door, is the control board. It has a 4 position set of ID switches. All must be
switched down.
