4.1.1

Local FTP Server

If the SBL files are placed on a local FTP server, perform the following steps to select FTP
server and SBL:
1. In MINI-LINK Craft, start the local FTP server by following the instructions in
MINI-LINK Craft User Guide.
2. In MINI-LINK Craft, in the Management Tree, right-click the NE.
3. Point to Tools and click Software Upgrade.
4. On the Upgrade of Baseline page, see Figure 1, under FTP Server, select

5. Click Apply and then click Next.

4.2 Selecting Settings and Verifying Preferences

To select settings and verify preferences:
1. On the Settings page, under Activation, do one of the following:

If you want the NE to run on the new SBL immediately after the software
upgrade is finished, select Immediate.

If you want the NE to run on the new SBL from a certain point of time in
the future, select Scheduled and specify Date (yyyy-mm-dd) and Time
(hh:mm).

Under Confirmation, do one of the following:

o

If you want to manually confirm the new SBL, select Manual. This is
feasible together with immediate activation.

If you want the NE to automatically confirm the new SBL, select

Automatic.

Verify the Preferences to be used for the upgrade. The preferences should
be configured as below.

Note:
Version Control is automatically enabled after an upgrade of SBL. It cannot be
enabled manually.

If needed, configure the preferences on the Preferences page, and

click Apply.

Note:
If a plug-in unit with higher minimum software revision than the revision defined
in the NE is used, the version control will be omitted for the plug-in unit and the
event Compliant Software Running will be displayed on the Event Log page.

On the Settings page, click Apply and then Next.

4.3 Starting the SBL Upgrade

To start the SBL upgrade:
1. On the Start Upgrade page, verify the requested actions and click Start
Upgrade.
The Upgrade Progress Baseline page, monitors the download of the new
SBL. The page is refreshed every fifth second. When all load modules have been
correctly received, the status Upgrade Finished is displayed for the SBL. It is
shown if a load module causes traffic disturbances or not.
If the upgrade fails, either click Cancel to cancel the upgrade and try again at a
later time, or click Start Upgrade to retry the failed upgrade.
Note:
A script error will appear when performing software upgrade from SBL R16A21
or earlier to SBL R16A22 or higher. This is due to a cookie mechanism
introduced in SBL R16A22 and it is independent of the hardware used and the
MINI-LINK Craft version. The script error does not mean that there is anything
wrong with the software upgrade.
To recover from the fault, press the Yes button and reload the software upgrade
from MINI-LINK Craft. The correct SBL version is then shown. Note that this
fault only occurs once when upgrading from an old SBL.

2. Depending on the selected activation method the following apply:

o

If Activation > Immediate was selected:

1. Click Activate. The Activation page is displayed.
2. If manual confirmation was selected, the Confirm New Software
Configuration page will be displayed. Click Confirm. The new
SBL is now the active software in the NE.
Note:

If you do not confirm within 15 minutes the NE will revert to the old SBL.
Clicking Fallback will give the same result, see Performing an Emergency
Fallback.

If Activation > Scheduled was selected, the Scheduled Activation

page is displayed. Among others, it informs if a load module, included in
the selected SBL, causes traffic disturbances. The new SBL will be
automatically confirmed at the specified time.
