To encourage the enrolment of girl students, there are 4 (Four) Government ITIs and 1 (One) Extension C
exclusively for women, 12 co-educational ITIs have special wing also for girl students and 30% seats for
co-educational ITIs are reserved for girls. In addition, the girls trainees are exempted from paying of fee
training, only caution money (refundable) & pupils fund has to be paid at the time of admissions. Entry le
in ITIs varies from a minimum eligibility of 8th pass to 12th pass. Admission to the ITI is based on the me
qualifying exam.

The scheme for up gradation of 100 ITIs in India with domestic resources w
approved by Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) in Feb. 2005 & by Cab
Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) of Govt. of India in March 2005.
100 Govt. ITIs in India were funded from domestic funding on a ratio of 75
cost sharing basis between Central Government & State Government as adv
by Ministry of Finance.
400 Govt. ITIs were selected for Centre of Excellence (CoE) under this sch
in India on a ratio of 75:25 cost sharing basis between Central Government
State Government as advised by Ministry of Finance. Maximum provision o
budget under this scheme is Rs. 3.5 Crores.
In Delhi, three (03) ITIs are being upgraded under this project as Centre of
Excellence (CoE) in the following Sectors:-
(b) Sir C. V. Raman ITI, Dheerpur in Electrical Sector with North Delhi P
Limited (NDPL).
(c) ITI jail Road, in Information Technology Sector with Educom IT Solu
Limited.
Under the scheme each ITI has been released a refundable loan of Rs. 2.5 C
by the Central Government.
Following eight (08) ITIs are being up gradated under the scheme in Delhi.

Government
1) ITI Malviya Nagar in Electrical Sector with National Thermal Power
Limited (NTPC) on 19.12.2008.
2) H.J. Bhabha ITI, Mayur Vihar in Electrical Sector with Indra Prastha P
Generation Limited (IPGL) on 25.03.2009.
3) Jija Bai ITI for Women, Siri Fort in Hospitality Sector with Sheela Foa
Private Limited on 29.09.2009.

4) ITI Nand Nagari in Automobile Sector with Tata Motors Limited on
6.09.2010.
5) ITI Jahangir Puri in Automobile Sector with Tata Motors Limited on

6) ITI Jaffar Pur in Apparel Sector with V & S International Pvt. Ltd. on
10.09.2010.
The remaining Institutes i.e. ITI Mori Gate for Women, ITI Vivek Vihar for
Women, ITI Tilak Nagar for Women and Veer Savarkar Basic Training Cen
will be upgraded under PPP scheme in the coming session/s.
Short term modular courses are running under this MES scheme in various
institutes for skill development. The scheme is designed by DGE&T. The co
are generally run in the evening or on weekends to facilitate youth of
unorganized sector to get certified by studying part time. The duration of a
module ranges generally ranges from 60 hrs to 950 hrs. Initially while admi
candidates nominal fees is charged from students but there is a provision of
refund of tuition fee and examination fee for successful candidates. There a

Part Time Industrial Worker (Evening Classes) Scheme
The scheme for workers employed in Industries without any ITI certificate.
studying part time they can get certificate of ITI. Presently the courses are
running in 4 ITIs namely ITI Jahangir Puri, ITI Shahdara, ITI Pusa and ITI
Ki Sarai in the trades of Electrician, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Refrigeration
A/C and Fitter. The duration of the courses is two years and admissions are
in alternate years.
The candidates who are not willing to undergo regular/part-time studies due
various constraints but having 3 years experience can opt for being examine
private candidate under this scheme. After successfully passing the examina
the candidate gets certificate from NCVT/SCVT, same as in CTS scheme.
SC/ST youths are trained in Employable Skills under this scheme in plumbe
welder and scooter mechanic trades. A tool kit amounting to Rs. 700=00 is
provided to each successful trainee.

C. CONTINUING EDUCATION
For employed persons, provision of part time evening classes exists at Delhi
Technoligical Univsersity (Delhi College of Engineering) for Degree Engineering
Courses and in three Government Polytechnics for Diploma engineering courses.
Diploma holders can get admission in the second year of Degree level Engineering
programmes at I. P. University affiliated colleges through Lateral Entry.
These are conducted in various polytechnics under the Community Polytechnic Sch
Schemes for Persons With Disability, Swaran Jayanti Shahari Rojgar Yojana and fo
college and school drop outs identified by the Industries Department. Besides the a
non formal training facilities available in the Polytechnics, a number of different sk
oriented short -term courses are available at both polytechnics as well as ITIs. Som
the courses run at the ITIs are exclusively for women. Industrial Training Institutes
conduct evening classes for industrial workers and conduct trade test for private
candidates. There is special coaching cum guidance facility for SC/ST candidates in
trade of Stenography (English) available at ITI Nand Nagari.
