Abstract
Oneofthemainmethodsforutilisingwasteisitsuseasanenergysource.Wasteisonly
suitableforuseasafuelifithasachemicalenergycontent.Thisenergycontentdepends
mostofallonthesizeofthe(organic)combustiblefractionandonthemoisturecontent.
Tobetteremploythechemicalenergycontainedinwastes,alternativefuelshavebeen
developedwhicharemixturesofdifferentwastes.Someofthesealternativefuelsare:
RDF,BRAM,SIBRCOM,INBRE,PAKOM,etc.Researchcarriedoutforanumberof
yearsincementplantsallovertheworldhasclearlyshowntheadvantagesofwaste
utilisationinclinkeringprocessesandcementproduction.Thedecisivefactorspromoting
theuseofcementkilnsfortheutilisationofwastesare:thehighincinerationtemperature,
thelargeareaofthefurnace,thesignificantlengthofthekilnandthealkaline
environmentinsidethekiln.
