ALGERIA NATIONAL TEAM

The Algeria National Football Team nicknamed The Fennecs or The Desert Foxes is
controlled by The Fédération Algérienne de Football.
The beginning of Algerian Football team in 1958 by Mohamed Boumerzekg . During the
1980 African Nations Cup Algeria beat Egypt in a penalty but in the final they were
defeated by Nigeria. In 1982 Algeria qualified to The World Cup and won the West
Germany by a score of 2_1 , that put Germany in danger to qualify for the next round., but
unfortunately The West Germany and Austria qualified , after in 1984 Algeria took the third
place in the African Nations Cup in Cote D’Ivoire , two years later The Desert Foxes
qualified to the African Nations Cup , but it was eliminated in the first round , In Mexico at
The 1986 World Cup , our National Team couldn’t pass the first round once again in a
group included Northern Irland, Brazil and Spain . In 1990 it passed to The African Nations
Cup , in group A , The Fennecs started the tournament by beating Nigeria (5_1), Cote
D’Ivoire (3_0) and Egypt (2_0) then in semi-finals Algeria beat Senegal (2_1) After in the
next round , in the final against , Nigeria versus Algeria in «5 July 19962 stadium» Cherif
Oudjani enabled Algeria to win the African Cup for the first time by his historic goal .
-------Today Algeria is qualified to The World Cup 2010 in South Africa , After beating
Zambia , Rouanda and Egypt in the elimination , before going to the World Cup , The
fennecs were eliminated in the semi-final because they were defeated by Egypt after a big
much versus Cote D’Ivoire in the quarter-final , and Egypt won The African Cup for three
time successively but EL-KHADRA hopes a good result in The World Cup with our desert
Foxes and the coach Chikh Saadane because all this success grace to him.

RABAH SAADANE
- Rabah Saadane is the coach of our Desert Foxes since
October 2007, was born on May 3th 1946 in Batna, Algeria .
His career has seen many clubs in Algeria and France. He was
a player in MSP Batna and it was his first club, then in MO
Constantine, to JS El-biar, and USM Blida, He also played for
Rennes in France but he stopped playing football aged 27
because he had a car accident .
- Saadane coached The Radj casablanca in Morocco and won
the champion league CAF 1989, with him this club won its
first champion next he coached The ES Setif, too and won The
Arab Champion League in 2007, it also was the first of the
club .
- Chikh Saadane is Known for being the first coach who led
the Algeria National Team to Mondial 1980 But Algeria lost against Yugoslavia in the
quarter finals and he also led our National Team in 1986 when it qualified to the world cup
and he still coach it in 1999, 2003, 2004, 2007 until now ; except The Algeria National
Team he coached the National Team of Yemen. Today Algeria is qualified to Mondial 2010
grace to him.
