CLINICAL INSTRUCTION PROGRAM


Care for Infants and Toodlers
Asilo Dela Milagrosa
LEVEL III

I. Philosophy:

The USJR College of nursing Pediatric Nursing Program will be


guided by Erickson’s Pyschosocial Theory, Havinghurst’s
Developmental Tasks, Piaget’s Cognitive Development,
Freud’s Psychosexual Theory, Sullivan’s Interpersonal Theory,
Kohlberg’s Moral Development Theory and the normal
developmental milestone of the child. The program is based
on the following concepts:
1. Pediatric understanding on the child’s growth and
development from birth through adolescence.
2. Pediatric nursing is to promote the highest possible state of
health in each child.
3. Children are highly susceptible to diseases throughout the
health – illness continuum.

II. Description of Asilo dela Milagrosa:

The infant and toddler department of Asilo dela Milagrosa


provides a warm, nurturing atmosphere where the child will learn, play
and grow. Children who are two weeks to two years old are eligible for
infant and toddler child care program.

III.Specific Objectives

At the completion of the required related learning experience in


Pediatrics a level III student will be expected to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the ways children change
from birth through adolescence and how these changes are
reflected in physiology, pathology and growth and development
(physical, psychosocial and behavioral).
2. Communicate effectively with infants, toddlers and children.

3. Demonstrate respect for patient and family confidentiality.


4. Participate as part of the health care team and demonstrate
respect for the individual members of the team.
5. Assume responsibility for self directed learning.
6. Obtain a Pediatric history using effective interview techniques
