To get good answers, you must ask good questions
If 42.3% of goals come from dead ball situations:
How much training do we devote to dead balls?
What solutions do we adopt?
Do we exploit the players qualities?
Do we consistently create 1v1 or 2v1 situations?
Are we unpredictable?
Do we force opponents to make choices?
In the static game (deal balls), the rules change -- the regulations -- and the roles
If ...

The opponent must respect the 10 yards from the ball

The offside rule does not apply (corners, throw-ins, goal kicks)

Then
Who initiates
Who and how many attack
When and where to attack
CHANGES THE GAME???!!!!

Rules, Roles and Situations
Many goals are scored are scored directly from and / or developing from dead ball situations; the
balance of a race is often broken by exploiting dead ball situations.
Everything happens for what reasons?
What happens when there is a dead ball situation?
They change the rules of the game
They change the roles of the players
They change the team setting
They change the level of mental stress

They change the rules of the game

The game of soccer alternates between defense and offense and the players interact with each
other by making choices, alternating their moves without knowing what the opponent will do.
When the referee stops the game or the ball comes out and then you start to play on the basis of a
deal ball: the rules change!
The game is still and there is an initial move
The opponent must be 10 yards from the ball
Who has the ball can decide where, how and when to kick it
PAGE 13
The changing roles of players
During the game, in order to deal with the alternation of the offensive and defensive phases,
teams are built with a balance which provides defenders, midfielders, strikers with different roles
and different locations according to the setting of the coach, the objectives, the results, etc.
When we had a deal ball situation, the roles change!!!

We can exploit those with the most dangerous shot, those who are best in the air and
those with the longest throw
No more defenders, midfielders, strikers but shooters, headers, launchers, defenders.

Changes the team shape

The shape of the team may include, for example, a basic 4-4-2 which can turn into a 4-5-1 in
defense and a 3-4-3 in attack. But if for example, we bring 8 players forward into the area, how
can we define the teams shape? Could we call it a 1-8-1 that becomes a 1-5-4 after the execution
with 1 shooter, 5 attackers and 4 defenders?
When there is a dead ball situation:

Change the rules of the game!!!

Change roles and tasks of players!!!
Change the shape of the team!!!
PAGE 14

Change the level of mental stress

When a dead-ball situation occurs, there exists a higher level of mental activation:
High structuring of dead ball situations
Significant amount of planning
Broad and diversified distribution of players functions
Synchronicity required for the execution
The adoption of strategic and tactical behaviors to create and exploit creates problems in for
defenders:

Attentional (where is the ball? where is the opponent?)

Cognitive (what do they do? where do they go? who initiates?)
Emotional (risk-difficulty)

CHAPTER: A Different Game

If they change all these factors: it changes the game!!!

And consequently the situations of the soccer game can be divided into static and dynamic.
Substantial differences in static and dynamic situations:
DYNAMIC SOCCER
The speed of the ball means that players take
on very defined roles (attackers, midfielders,
defenders)
[Direct translation: during the evolution of the
game the player must be careful that it intends
to breaking free is addressed directly to the
opponent that the fellow with the ball. Only
when the latter and able to make the switch,
there are the conditions for the dissociation.]
The player with the ball often has pressure
from the opponent and cannot focus solely on
the technical act.
For example, team shape: 4-4-2

STATIC SOCCER
Because the ball stops, there is not such a
distinction in roles; players can mobilize
[Direct translation: in the developments of the
situations arising from dead-ball player that if
a dash as the prevailing reference to the direct
opponent.]
The player who puts the ball in play can focus
on the technical act because opponents must
remain 10 yards away.
For example, attacking corner: 1-8-1
