qualifications issued by other Australian higher education institutions, such as

helping them to learn in a way that directly benefits themselves and their employer.

The MBA (Master of Business

Administration) degree is internationally
recognised and is seen as a passport to
a successful management career.

MBA degrees provide students with

knowledge of how people and processes
operate within organisations and the wider
environment affecting those organisations.

It is the worlds most popular

postgraduate degree, with around
200,000 MBA graduates produced in
the USA, and almost 30,000 Australians*
studying for an MBA each year.

MBAs were first developed in the USA

in the early 1900s. They were designed
for graduates within technical disciplines
who had little or no business education.

INNOVATIVE MODEL
12 MONTH MBA

KEY FEATURES OF THE MODEL

1. Study Mode Options
The AIB MBA is offered in three flexible study modes:
Distance Learning: A flexible learning option for students
who want the flexibility to study from home, the office, or while
travelling, at times that suit them.
On-campus: For learners seeking to complement their
distance learning experience with three weekend workshops
per month led by practical faculty and guest lecturers.
Hybrid: For students looking to undertake certain subjects via
distance learning and others on-campus.

4. Work-Applied Learning
AIB strongly believes that to produce effective business
graduates, business programmes must blend theory and action.
Our learning methods are soundly based on Work-Applied
Learning (WAL), a practice which ensures each student
consciously applies their knowledge and skills to the workplace.
This is assessed through formal coursework, including
assessments that measure students learning from both their
application and reflection of the theory.
5. Practical Assessment
AIBs emphasis on Work-Applied Learning is reflected in the
unique assessments offered throughout the MBA programme:

2. Monthly Subjects
The 12 Month MBA is 12 subjects delivered over 12 months.
AIB is the only institution in Australia that uses the Monthly
Learning Model which allows students to start, master, and
complete a subject within a month while working full-time.
This learning model is superior to the semestral or trimestral
approach adopted by most traditional MBA programmes as
it allows working adults to balance personal and professional
commitments, while focusing on just one subject at a time.

Each of the first 11 subjects are assessed with:

1 take-home, work-applied assignment
1 open book, work-applied examination
The 12th subject is a Project, which allows students to identify
and address an issue of strategic and functional importance in
their organisation.
6. Flexible Completion Times
Although the MBA can be completed in as little as 12 months,
it can be undertaken in up to three years. Students can
accelerate or extend the programme to suit their personal
and professional needs.

3. Accelerated Learning
The AIB MBA is fully accredited to be delivered in just 12
months while a student works full-time. While the content is of
the same standard to other accredited MBA programmes, the
intensive structure of the course forgoes term and semester
breaks, which in traditional MBA models constitutes a
substantial amount of time during the course.

HOW TO FIT AN MBA

INTO YOUR LIFE

WITH AIBS UNIQUE MONTHLY LEARNING MODEL, WE ALLOW YOU TO

ACCELERATE YOUR LEARNING BY FOCUSING ON ONE SUBJECT EVERY
MONTH BEFORE MOVING ONTO THE NEXT.
We understand that with work, family,
and social commitments it can be difficult
to juggle the 3 4 subjects traditional
universities require over each semester.

AIBs Monthly Learning Model is the

preferred solution for busy, working
adults who also want to study full-time.
The amount of independent study you
will complete each week will depend on
your individual circumstances.

Where would you find the time

to study?
Read on to hear real examples of how
our graduates fit the MBA into their life
and a few of their study tips.

GRADUATE STUDY TIPS:

HOW TO STUDY WITH A FAMILY
Give your kids one special weekend a month to do
something you wouldnt usually do as a family
(e.g. go-karting, ice-skating, etc.).

Join in on homework time with your children by

studying your MBA.

Wake up 1 hour earlier to study so you can spend

the evening with the kids.

Study for 1 2 hours each weeknight after dinner

and family time with your children.

Make dinner dates and breakfast dates with your

family and stick to them.

Take advantage of the office after hours and avoid

peak-hour traffic by studying for 1 2 hours each
night after work.

Take public transport to work and study while

commuting.

Use study leave near exam or assignment days to

give you more time to revise and prepare.

Negotiate study time during your working hours with

your manager.

Choose to attend on-campus weekend workshops

that will keep you to studying on set dates and times.

STUDYING WHILE TRAVELLING

Use an iPad to read your study notes

while travelling.

Study from your hotel room, and photocopy the

textbook beforehand if needed.

Complete exams overseas if necessary through

the Australian Consulate.

Make use of local facilities including libraries, coffee

shops or the beach rather than only your hotel desk.

Wake up half an hour earlier than your family to hit the

books before the days excitement begins.

Im one of those lunatics that generally

work for over 80 hours a week I just
seem to naturally be able to manage
that strain, and Ive never had a coffee
in my life! All of my studies were pretty
much done at night time. I knew that
I would not be able to find time within
my busy work schedule, so I made
the effort to study after hours. I found
that worked quite well for me. I would
get home, have dinner and then throw
myself into it.

I ended up being very diligent with

One of the key lessons Ive learnt

throughout my cricketing career is that
theres no substitute for hard work.
The harder you work, the luckier you get.
There are no shortcuts or quick routes,
so work as hard as you can.
Glenn McGrath
Former Australian Cricketer,
Co-Founder of the McGrath Foundation
(Speaker at AIBs 2015 Graduation Ceremony)

The number one reason our business

fails or succeeds is because of the
people we surround ourselves with.
Our business has goals and plans to
succeed, and we need people who will
work through every single challenge and
just do it.
Janine Allis
Founder of Boost Juice and Retail Zoo,
and Shark on Network TENs Shark
Tank Australia
(Speaker at AIBs 2014 Graduation Ceremony)

I learned very early on, if you want to

achieve exceptional results, in person
or business, you have to be prepared to
take risks. Give things a go. Unless you
try, you will never know. Always be aware
of failure but never ever fear it.
John Anderson
Founder of Contiki Holidays

(Speaker at AIBs 2015 Adelaide Alumni Event)

GRADUATION

ALL GRADUATES ARE INVITED TO CELEBRATE THEIR ACHIEVEMENT AT

THE PRESTIGIOUS AIB GRADUATION CEREMONY.
The Australian Graduation Ceremony
tends to be in November each year
where Graduates are formally conferred
their degree in the presence of their
family, and a community of fellow
graduates, faculty, industry guests,
and Members of Parliament.

The ceremony is attended by faculty,

academic and advisory board members,
and high profile guests, many of whom
have presented inspiring and thoughtful
graduation keynote speeches.
In recent years, these proficient keynote
speakers have included Janine Allis,
Founder of Boost Juice, and Glenn
McGrath, former Australian International
Cricketer, and Co-Founder of the
McGrath Foundation.

Their speeches are aimed at motivating

and inspiring our graduates with their
successful business stories.
As graduates of The Practical Business
School, graduates recognise the value
their qualification has to the industry, due
to its emphasis on practical application
of each skill to the workplace, and know
that this memorable achievement will be
valued for a lifetime.

The sense of achievement on the

day is just remarkable. Having
my family watch me receive
my parchment is a memory Ill
cherish forever.

COURSE FEES

Senator The Honourable Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training, addresses graduates and attendees at the AIB Graduation Ceremony.

MBA

COURSE FEES
AIBs MBA programme is amongst the
most affordable in Australia.
Your specific course fees will depend
on a number of factors including: your
location, whether you are undertaking
the course in stages, whether you are
entitled to exemptions, and when you are
planning on commencing studies.
Your Course Advisor will be able to
provide you with the current fee schedule
and determine your specific course
fees payable.

FEE-HELP
The Australian Institute of Business
(AIB) is an accredited Higher Education
Provider and is approved to offer
FEE-HELP, an Australian Government loan
scheme which assists eligible students to
pay part or all of your tuition fees.
No loan fee applies to FEE-HELP loans
for the MBA, and the Commonwealth
Government pays the amount of the loan
directly to AIB on the students behalf.
Your eligibility for FEE-HELP is not
affected by your income and assets.

Interest is not applied to FEE-HELP

debts, however an index amount is
applied each year and this indexation
amount is in line with the Consumer Price
Index (CPI).
For further information regarding
FEE-HELP, please visit
www.studyassist.gov.au.

UP-FRONT PAYMENT OPTION

If you are not FEE-HELP eligible and you
are not studying in Australia, you may
enjoy considerable savings by paying for
your course fees up-front. Paying up-front
also protects you from future course fee
increases.

FUNDING SOURCES
In addition to FEE-HELP, funding sources
vary from student to student. The vast
majority utilise personal funds for their
studies, while others prefer to spread their
payments into manageable amounts over
a period of time with a low-rate credit
card, personal loan, or incorporating this
in a home loan.

PAYMENT MODES
Payments can be made by (Visa/
MasterCard) credit card online through
our payment gateway which attracts
a small credit card surcharge. Other
accepted modes of payment are:
cheque, direct debit, and bank transfer.

TAX BENEFIT
If you are accepted into the course, you
may be able to obtain a tax deduction
of your course fees as a self-education
expense. Please visit www.ato.gov.au
for more information or consult your
accountant.
Contact one of our Course Advisors
by calling 08 8212 8111 or via email
at courseadvisor@aib.edu.au to find
out about payment options available
to you. Other fees are listed in the
