Unliketraditionalencyclopedias,Wikipediafollowstheprocrastination
principle[notes4]regardingthesecurityofitscontent.[57]Itstartedalmostentirely
openanyonecouldcreatearticles,andanyWikipediaarticlecouldbeeditedbyany
reader,eventhosewhodidnothaveaWikipediaaccount.Modificationstoall
articleswouldbepublishedimmediately.Asaresult,anyarticlecouldcontain
inaccuraciessuchaserrors,ideologicalbiases,andnonsensicalorirrelevanttext.

Restrictions
Overtime,theEnglishWikipediaandsomeotherWikipediasgraduallyhave
restrictedmodifications.Forexample,intheEnglishWikipediaandsomeother
languageeditions,onlyregisteredusersmaycreateanewarticle.[58]OntheEnglish

AnyeditthatchangescontentinawaythatdeliberatelycompromisestheintegrityofWikipediaisconsideredvandalism.
Themostcommonandobvioustypesofvandalismincludeinsertionofobscenitiesandcrudehumor.Vandalismcanalso
includeadvertisinglanguageandothertypesofspam.[68]Sometimeseditorscommitvandalismbyremovinginformationor
entirelyblankingagivenpage.Lesscommontypesofvandalism,suchasthedeliberateadditionofplausiblebutfalse
