If youre striving for an elegant, sophisticated or classic look this is the

way to get it. Embossing /debossing creates an image that begs to be
touched and admired. Much like a piece of sculpture, it has dimensionality and texture, forcing the ngers and eyes to linger. Flat
stamping is the best choice when you want a truly reective metallic, the sheen of a pearlescent nish or desire to simulate the look
of precious metal.

Project Planning, Ordering, Shipping

Before You Begin
Keep in mind the different techniques for
decorating (foil stamping, screen-printing, offset,
etc.) your presentation materials have their own
limitations. Speak with your customer service
representative about any specic guidelines
to be followed while preparing your artwork for
a specic decorating technique. Following the
suggested guidelines will help reduce the risk
of incurring additional charges to manipulate or
repair artwork.

Custom Slots, Business Card Slits, CD Dots,

Velcro Dots, Tang Strips, Etc.
Folder drawings in this catalog show the
standard placement of slits that come with the
folder to hold a standard horizontal business
card. Business card slits can be customized to
accommodate vertical, custom, or multiple business cards. Custom slots for brochures, CDs,
diskettes, booklets, etc. can also be added.
Please speak with your customer service representative for details.

Scaling images after importing them alters the

nal resolution of the image and can cause the
image not to print properly.
If an image is to completely cover the front or
back side of your document, you need to be
sure the image extends (bleeds) at least 1/8
over the edge of the page. Do not end it at the
trim edge or white will show on the edge.
If you must scan b/w line art, it should be
scanned at 2540 dpi or at the highest resolution
possible (preferably not less than 1200 dpi), at
the size used in the document. Photographs
should be scanned at 300 dpi at the size used in
the document. Images should not contain excessive resolution. Images over 400 dpi unnecessarily increase le size and do not enhance the
printed output. If an image is to bleed over the
edge of the page, remember to add in a bleed
allowance before scanning. Fixing bleeds may
prove difcult after images are completed.
The Difference Between Halftone Art & Line Art
While line art is normally suitable for most types
of screen printing, offset printing, stamping, and
embossing, halftone art is best suited for offset/4-color reproduction. Please do not set text
or create line art in PhotoShop unless absolutely
necessary.

For added security CD/DVD foam dots, Velcro

dot closures, Tang strips, elastic bands, etc.
can be added to help prevent loose items from
falling out.
Templates
When placing your order, please ask your
customer service representative for a template
of the product style you have chosen. Using our
template as a guide will help you to properly size
and position your artwork.

Supported Applications
We accept PC and MAC les for the following programs: Adobe Illustrator, PageMaker,
Photoshop, Macromedia FreeHand, and
QuarkXpress. We accept only PC les for Adobe
InDesign, CorelDraw, Microsoft Publisher and
Word. You can also visit our web site for the
most current programs and versions. If you have
used a program not listed above, please call
your customer service representative for more
information.
Images
All images should be created at the nal size to
be used. Images should not be scaled after being imported into the main document.

Halftone art - photographs, paintings, or other

images containing shades of color, fades, shadows, or gradients. See example above.

Line art - drawings, diagrams, and gures such

as logos, that are entirely solid colors, with no
fades, shadows, or gradients. Example above.
Color Modes
For screen printing and when using spot colors
in offset printing, artwork should be set up using
the PMS colors you are using. For offset printing that does not contain spot colors, all images
should be converted from RGB to CMYK mode
before being placed into the main document.
Ensure all ll & stroke colors used are CMYK.
Be aware colors shift when converted from RGB
to CMYK. Do not rely on the colors displayed on
your monitor.

Acceptable Image Types

Images used in your artwork should be saved
as EPS (for photographs or vector graphics) or
TIFF (for b/w, grayscale, or color raster images).
Unsuitable Image Types
GIF, JPEG, PICT, etc. are inappropriate formats
for high quality print purposes. These formats
are low resolution (72 dpi) images and will not
print correctly. Please do not use white boxes to
cover graphic images or type.
Placed or Linked Images vs. Embedded Images
Images should be placed or linked in your
document. This cuts down on le size and output time. Please do not embed (cut & paste)
your images into your main document. Embedded images increase the le size, take much
longer to output, and limit our ability to ensure
quality output.
Be sure to include copies of all linked or placed
les in your document when sending your artwork. Do not rename any linked or placed les
after saving the layout le. Verify the status of all
linked images before sending us your les.
Line Weight, Borders & Outlines
Line weights, borders and outlines should be
dened at .25 pt. or larger for offset printing, or
.75 pt. or larger for screen-printing, and 2 pt. or
larger for stamping or embossing. Lines smaller
than these may print inconsistently or not at all.
Never select hairline as the line weight. Different programs may dene hairline as different
weights, and they may use a weight that will not
print well for your job. Please speak with your
customer service representative for recommendations regarding the details of your artwork.
Fonts
Macintosh fonts are typically located in the fonts
folder within the system folder. Windows fonts
are typically located in the fonts folder within
the Windows/System folders. Type 1 Postscript
fonts are divided into two separate lesa
screen font and a printer fontyou need to be
sure to send both parts to ensure we can preview your fonts via computer screen and print
your le. True Type fonts contain both printer
and screen information in one le. To avoid output surprises and delays we recommend using
Type 1 Postscript fonts.
Take care to include all fonts used in your document, including fonts used in linked EPS les. It
is important to include all fonts used, even very
common fonts like Arial or Helvetica. Subtle
differences can exist between the Arial font you
are using and the Arial font we are using. We
will have no way of knowing if your font is different from ours.
Applying attributes such as bold or italic to a
font can cause a type substitution and result in
delays and additional charges. We recommend
using the specic font face to avoid this.
You may convert fonts to outlines within some
programs to avoid sending font les. Remember
however, once a font has been converted to outlines it can no longer be edited as text if errors
such as misspellings or the like are found.
Please do not create line art or set text in PhotoShop unless absolutely necessary.

Trapping Artwork
Please do not apply trapping to your artwork,
our graphics department will handle this for you.
Including Proofs
Please provide a color proof and a separated
proof of your artwork, or a PDF le. When we
examine your les we can tell very quickly if
what were seeing on the screen is what you
intended. Text re-ow is an example of a common problem that can be avoided if you provide
a proof of your artwork.
Sending Your Digital Files
When sending your digital les, please include
information about what type of computer (PC or
MAC) was used to create the les as well as the
names and versions of the software programs
used. Be sure to include all linked images and
fonts used in your document. If you do not include your images and fonts your document will
not print correctly.
We are prepared to accept your artwork on the
following types of media storage:

JAZ Disk PC/MAC 1GB, 2GB
3.5 Floppy Disk 1.44MB
If you are using a different media type than
those listed above please call us for more

Sending Files Via FTP or E-mail
You may send les over the Internet via FTP
or E-mail. Be sure to place all MAC fonts in a
Stuft le before e-mailing or sending via FTP.
It will be necessary to coordinate FTP activity
through your customer service representative.
When sending les via E-mail, keep in mind
some ISPs impose a maximum le size on Email attachments.
Before sending large les, contact your System
Administrator or ISP for information on size
limits before sending les via E-mail.

Ordering Information & Delivery Schedules
Production time varies by product based on
job complexity and other jobs in-house at the
time. Each quotation we issue has an estimated
production time shown. We will usually ship your
job within this time period. Whenever possible
we ship orders as soon as completed, usually
sooner than promised unless you are paying
for rush service. Final delivery schedule will
be based on an agreed upon date once our
company has received your COMPLETED
ORDER, as well as continued timely returns of
proofs, changes, etc. unless the specications
state otherwise.
Rush Orders
When possible, we will offer rush services
requiring delivery faster than our quoted delivery
schedule. Rush charges vary based on the time
requirement and the order complexity.
Changes or Cancellations
Cancellation after an order is in process will
require payment for the actual work performed
(amount to be determined by Folder Factory,
Inc.). Changes to orders in process may or may

not require additional charges and extended

delivery time. Our minimum cancellation charge
is $50.00 once your order has been entered into
our system.
Foil Stamp-Emboss Charges
We need a copy of your proposed design to
accurately quote for your needs. Die types vary
because of design complexity, run length, and
cost.
Return of Customer Art
Customer supplied artwork is always returned
to the customer at delivery time along with the
order.
Film, Plates, Screens & Dies
Film, plates, and screens are always retained
by the Company. Foil-stamping and embossing
dies may be returned to the customer, however,
this must be agreed upon and included in the
written agreement at time of order.
Art Proofs
Our prices include a full-size Epson Ink Jet
proof, a black and white proof, or a FAX proof
if requested. Proofs are sent to you on all new
orders and on re-runs where changes are made.
No proof for exact re-run. Alterations in the copy
when the proof is returned, that were not in the
original copy, may require an additional charge.
Any errors on our part will be corrected at no
charge. We will assume no liability for errors
that are not noted on the Proof Form and on
the proof. Proofs must be signed and returned
immediately to meet prior agreed upon delivery
schedule. Delays in proof return will increase the
time to nal delivery date.

Paper products are packed into a main box

which is sealed and nested into a larger box
tted with Styrofoam corners. The larger box is
sealed and shipped to you.
We take these extra steps in an attempt to prevent crushing, tearing, or moisture damage that
could occur along the way. We feel it is a good
idea to leave the boxes packaged as they are if
you plan to store them for any length of time.
Shipping Information
We ship most orders by United Parcel Service
(UPS) or Federal Express (FED EX), unless
requested otherwise by the customer.
Each package is individually numbered so information on scheduled delivery date, receiving
person, or date and time may be researched.
We can also ship via the common carrier of your
choice. (Customer is responsible for obtaining
quotation for shipping from your carrier. We will
supply shipping weight information for use in
obtaining quotes).
Folder orders shipped common carrier are
double boxed with separators, banded onto
wooden pallets, and shrink wrapped. All pallets
are labeled FRAGILE on all sides. All common
carrier shipments are usually made freight collect, FOB, Edinburg, VA.
If air shipment is needed, please specify when
you order.
COD Shipments
COD shipments require a COD fee payable to
the shipper at the time of delivery. Split Shipping

Screen Printing Ink Color Proof

We supply a color proof for any PMS color on
the actual stock to be used. Because of differences in equipment, processing, proong substrates, paper, inks, pigments, and other conditions between color proong and production
pressroom operations, a reasonable variation in
color between color proofs and the completed
job shall constitute acceptable delivery.
Press Proof
Press proofs are only supplied upon request.
Consult with your customer service representative for the charges based upon your actual
requirements.
Customer Supplied Film/Dies
We prefer to supply our own lm and dies. Customer supplied lm and dies must be inspected
for suitability before use.
Folder Factory Imprint
Folder Factory routinely imprints its products
with folders.com which is used as the regular
imprint. For patented styles the imprint is US
Patent #4,636,179 folders.com. The BrokerPatent imprint (when applicable) is US Patent
#4,636,179 FFI 22824. Imprints are placed in
a discreet position and size on the folders we
produce. Please let us know what imprint position you prefer.

Charges: $10.00 per location for more than two

locations.
Damaged Goods
Upon arrival, if your shipment has been damaged in transit, document with the shipper the
order is received damaged. If shipping via
United Parcel Service or Federal Express, notify
us immediately.
The customer is responsible for ling and
negotiating all common carrier damage claims
directly with the common carrier.
