characteristicexampleofpropagandaforthisagendaistheplayentitledDeepAretheRoots(in
otherwords:ofracialprejudice),whichItalianradiohasfelttheneedtosubjectustomorethan
once.

Theintegrationistswhodrawtheseconclusionsaslogicalastheyareaberrantfromthedogma
ofegalitariandemocracy,andwho,whiletalkingatfullblastaboutfreedom,areinfactadvocatinga
trulycoercivesystem(1),arestillopposed,especiallyintheSouth,bycertaingroupsthathaveno
intentionofgivingagreenlighttotheadvanceoftheblackraceandthenegrificationoftheir
country.However,theselattergroupsfailtorealizetheextentofthephenomenon,inthesensethat
theyonlynoticeitinitsmostmaterialandtangibleform.Theyfailtoseetheextenttowhich
Americaisnegrifiednotonlyraciallyanddemographically,butaboveallinitscivilization,inthe

behavior,andtastesofAmericans,evenwhentherehasbeennoactualmixingwithnegroblood.

TheUShasbeencompared,notwithoutjustification,toameltingpot.Itactuallypresentsuswitha
caseinwhichahumantypewasformed,withcharacteristicsthataretoalargeextentuniformand
constant,fromoutofahighlyheterogeneousrawmaterial.EmigratingtoAmerica,menofthemost
diversepeoplesreceivethesameimprintaftertwogenerations,exceptinrarecases,theylose
almostalloftheiroriginalcharacteristics,reproducingafairlyhomogeneousunitintermsof
mentality,sensibility,andbehavior:theAmericantype.
Inthisregard,theoriessuchasthoseformulatedbyFrobeniusandSpengler,whohaveassertedthat
thereisacloserelationshipbetweentheformsofagivencultureandakindofsoulboundtothe
naturalenvironment,tothelandscapeandtheoriginalpopulation,donotseemapplicable.
Otherwise,anessentialpartofAmericanculturewouldhavebeenpossessedbytheindigenous
element,whichconsistsofAmerindians,theredskins.TheredIndianswereproudraceswiththeir
ownstyle,theirowndignity,sensibilityandformsofreligiositynotwithoutjustification,a
traditionalistwriter,F.Schuon,spokeofthepresenceintheirbeing,ofsomethingaquilineand
solar.Andwewillnothesitatetoassertthathaditbeentheirspiritthattoanappreciableextent
hadimbuedinitsbestaspectsandonanappropriateplanethehumanmaterialthrownintothe

Instead,besidesitsPuritanProtestantcomponent(which,inturn,asaresultofitsfetishistic
emphasisontheOldTestament,possessesmanyjudaized,degeneratetraits),itseemsthatitis
preciselythenegroelement,initsprimitivism,thathassetthetoneinimportantaspectsofthe
Americanpsyche.ItisalreadycharacteristicthatwhenspeakingofAmericanfolklore,itistothe
Negroesoneisreferring,asiftheyweretheoriginalinhabitantsofthecountry.Thus,thefamous
PorgyandBessbytheJewGershwin,whichdealsexclusivelywithblacks,isconsideredintheUSto

Butthephenomenonofpopularanddancemusicisevenmoreconspicuousandgeneral.Fitzgerald
wasnotwrongwhenhesaidthatinoneofitsmainaspects,Americancivilizationcanbecalleda
civilizationofjazz,i.e.,ofanegrifiedmusicanddance.Inthisdomain,verysingularelective
affinitieshaveledAmerica,bywayofaprocessofregressionandprimitivization,toimitatethe
Negroes.Assumingtherewouldbeaneedforfrenziedrhythmsandformsasalegitimate
compensationforthemechanicalandmaterialisticsoullessnessofmoderncivilization,onewould
havedonemuchbettertolooktothemanysourcesavailableinEurope:wehaveelsewhere

identitywithallmembersofthetribe.
Thepassagecontinuesalongthesamelines,andJungendsupwonderingiftheinhabitantsofthe
newcontinentcouldstillbeconsideredtobeEuropeans.Buthisobservationscanbefurther
developed.

ThebrutalitythatunquestionablyisacharacteristicofAmericanscanwellbesaidtohaveanegro
character.InthehappydaysofwhatEisenhowerwasnotashamedtocalltheCrusadeinEurope,
aswellasintheearlydaysoftheoccupation,wehadtheoccasiontoobservethetypicalformsof

Generallyspeaking,thetasteforbrutalitynowseemstobeingrainedintheAmericanmindset.Itis
truethatthemostbrutalofallsports,boxing,originatedinEngland,butitisintheUnitedStates
thatitsmostaberrantformshavedeveloped,anditistherethatithasbecometheobjectofa
collectiveobsession,soontransmittedtoothernations.Concerningthetasteforgettingintofights
andcomingtoblowsinthemostsavagemanneritisenough,though,toconsiderthegreaterpart
ofAmericanfilmsandpopulardetectivestories:vulgarfistfightingisaconstanttheme,evidently
becauseitcorrespondstothetastesofAmericanaudiencesandreaders,forwhomitseemstobe
thesymboloftruemasculinity.America,theworldleader,has,ontheotherhand,morethanany
othernationrelegatedthetraditionaldueltothestatusofridiculousEuropeanantiquatedrubbish.
Theduelisamethodofsettlingdisputes,followingstrictrules,withoutresortingtotheprimitive
bruteforceofthemerearmandfist.Thereisnoneedtopointoutthestrikingcontrastbetween
thisAmericantraitandtheidealbehavioroftheEnglishgentleman,despitethefactthatthe
EnglishmadeupacomponentoftheoriginalpeopleoftheUnitedStates.
ModernWesternman,toalargeextentaregressivetype,isinvariousrespectscomparabletoa
crustaceanheisashardontheoutsideasamanofaction,asanunscrupulousentrepreneur,as
anorganizer,andsoforthasheissoftandformlessinhisinternalsubstance.Now,thisistrueto
thehighestdegreeofAmericans,whorepresentthedegenerateWesterntypecarriedtothe

ThatAmericaneroticismisaspandemicasitistechnicallyspeakingprimitive,hasalsobeen
deploredbyAmericangirlsandwomen.Whichbringsustoyetanotherconvergencewithwhatis
characteristicofthenegroraces,inwhichtheattimesobsessivepartalwaysplayedbyeroticismand
sexualityisassociatedwithprimitivismthus,theseracesunlikeorientals,theancientWestern
worldandcertainotherpeopleshaveneverknownanarsamatoriaworthyofthename.Themuch
vauntedhighsexualperformanceofNegroesisreallyonlyofacrudelyquantitativepriapiccharacter.
AnotherobviousaspectofAmericanprimitivismconcernstheconceptofbigness.WernerSombart
hassuccessfullyputhisfingeronitinsayingthattheymistakebignessforgreatness.Now,this
traitisnotfoundinallnonEuropeanpeoplesorpeoplesofcolor.Forexample,anauthenticArabof
theoldrace,aredskin,anEastAsianarenotoverlyimpressedbymerelymaterial,quantitative,
ostentatioussize,includingthatrelatedtomachinery,technologyandtheeconomy(apart,of
course,fromalreadyEuropeanizedindividuals).Itisatraitfoundonlyintrulyprimitiveandchildish
racesliketheNegro.ItisnoexaggerationtoassertthatthefoolishprideofAmericansinspectacular
bigness,intheachievementsoftheircivilization,reekoftheNegropsyche.
Here,weoughttomentiontheoftrepeatednonsenseaboutAmericansbeingayoungrace,with
thetacitcorollarythattheyaretheraceofthefuture.Itistruethatamyopicgazeeasilymistakes

paradoxically,thesimilaritiesofsupposedlyyoungpeoples,intheabovesenseoflatecomers,with
genuinelyprimitiveracesthathaveremainedoutsideofworldhistory,andexplainsthetastefor
primitivismandthereturntoprimitivism.WehavealreadyremarkedupontheAmerican
predilection,fromanelectiveaffinity,forNegroandsubtropicalmusicbutthesamephenomenon
isapparentinotherdomainsofmorerecentcultureandart.Wecouldconsider,forexample,the
glorificationofngritudebyexistentialists,intellectuals,andprogressiveartistsinFrance.
ItfollowsthatEuropeans,includingtheimitatorsofthehighernonEuropeancivilizations,
demonstrate,inturn,thesameprimitiveandprovincialmentalitywhentheyadmireAmerica,when
theyletthemselvesbeimpressedbyAmerica,whentheystupidlyallowthemselvestobe
Americanizedandenthusiasticallybelievethatthismeanscatchingupwiththemarchofprogress,
andthatitisasignofbeingliberatedandopenminded.
Thiscatchingupincludesthesocialandculturalintegrationofthenegro,whichisspreadingin
EuropeitselfandeveninItaly,andpromotedthroughthesubliminaleffectsofimportedfilms
(whereblacksandwhitesareshownmixinginsocialfunctions,asjudges,policeofficers,lawyers,

Italianpublisher,Einaudi,wasquicktospreaditinourcountryaswell,inatranslationintwo
editions.Thisrantingbookgoestothepointofclaimingthatnegroculturewouldbeaexcellent
meansofrevivingandrestoringthematerialisticcivilizationoftheWest...
RegardingtheelectiveaffinitiesofAmericans,wewouldliketorefertoonemorepoint.Ifinthe
UnitedStatesofAmericatherewasonethingthatseemedtobepositiveandpresentsomesortof
hope,itwasthephenomenonofanewgenerationthathadchampionedakindofrebellious,
anarchistic,nihilistic,andanticonformistexistentialism:thesocalledBeatgeneration,theBeats,
thehipstersandthelike,whichwewilldiscussmoreelsewhere.Well,fraternizingwithblacksanda
veritablereligionofnegrojazz,deliberateracemixing,includingwhitewomenhavingsexual
relationswithNegroes,areacharacteristicaspectofthismovement.Inawellknownessay,Norman
Mailer,whowasoneofitsmainexponents,actuallyestablishedakindofequivalencebetweenthe
negroandthehumantypeofthegenerationinquestion,evendefiningthelatterasawhitenegro.
