EKSAOKON:A Child Care Centre
Program Manager- full time
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations/Chief Administrative Officer, the EksaOkon:a Childcare Centre Program Manager is
responsible for the EksaOkon:a Childcare Centre Program. The manager provides programming to the children of the Mohawks of
the Bay of Quinte using existing policies, principles and guidelines. The Manager also provides supervision and guidance to the
daycare team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Managing, supervising and directing the staff through positive team leadership and decision making according to MBQ
policy and procedures
Responsible for budgeting, maintaining financials and processing financial paperwork according to MBQ policy and
procedures
Staying current on legislative changes, ensuring adherence to Day Nursery Act and Occupation Health and Safety Procedures
Liaising with Federal, Provincial and Regional Child Care agencies
Providing administrative management of daily procedures, including but not limited to data collection, daily logging,
maintaining rapport with children and parents, etc.
Reporting to meet funding requirements, including statistical data, writing proposals for program enrichment and
enhancement
Working with children on the floor, including planning and supervising, and other duties as required
Education and Experience:
Diploma in Early Childhood Education (must be a member or be eligible to be a member of the College of Early Childhood
Educators) with at least three years experience in a child care setting; or
Diploma in a related field (such as SSW/DSW, etc.) with at least five years experience in a childcare setting
Minimum five years experience in an office environment and/or supervisory role
Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act and other related legislation
Knowledge and sensitivity to Native issues and community concerns
Knowledge of child development & good knowledge of program planning and implementation
High level of managerial and supervisory skills including bookkeeping and financial management skills
High level of computer proficiency, with specific experience in word processing and excel
High degree of initiative and self-direction and excellent problem solving skills
Must be able to work independently and handle multiple tasks
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Courteous, positive, helpful attitude & strong appreciation of and empathy with the needs of children and families
Must have a clear vulnerable sector check
