» The atmosphere at the starting line of the »Weißer Rausch«, for me and
probably for everyone else, cannot be compared with anything on earth.
Everyone who has made the decision to participate in this race is burning
with enthusiasm and ‘champing at the bit’ to start into the unknown. Will I
get off to a good start with all these crazies around me? Will the ascent be
harder than it was during training? How big are the bumps? Have I put on
the right wax? Will my strength last for the final obstacles? Will I be able to
improve my own personal best time? Can I beat my best friend this year?
Those are the questions running through your mind...pure adrenaline!” «
Paul Schwarzacher (5-time winner of Alpine Skiing, 2-time winner of Snowboard)

» The Arlberg Adler - a superlative challenge. Whoever is seeking a challenge

of the highest order is advised to take part in the Arlberg Adler. Because the
synthesis of these three disciplines is unbeatable: “Been there, done that.”
The adrenaline kick from the “Weißer Rausch” is hard to find anywhere else.
The Jakobilauf is a superb half-marathon. The route along the Rosanna River is
extremely attractive and the gentle bubbling brook compensates for the pain
you’re feeling from the effort for the ascent. At the Arlberg Bike Marathon,
rollicking downhill passages, strenuous and steep ascents await you. And now
and again you grant yourself - as a reward - a glance out over the splendid views
down to the green valley. After so much sweat and training, you are justifiably
proud of your performance. « Viktoria Pfeifer-Jennewein (winner in 2009)

»through
Back to nature! Whoever runs this spectacular marathon
an unforgettable panorama knows what I mean by that.
For me personally, the most beautiful run on my running calendar
and the non-plus-ultra high point. I originally intended to run this
race only once, but the unique route simply won‘t let me do that.
Despite physical exhaustion, there is still so much good-feeling
that remains. And that is shared by most of the runners. They are
proud to have taken part. The muscle cramps are soon forgotten -
the wonderful feelings remain!” « Bruno Franzoi (Kraft Running Group)

»in this
Every single time, it is an appetizing challenge to take part
superbly organised running event along the banks of the
Rosanna with both starting and finish lines at the Church Square in
St. Jakob am Arlberg. The attractive route of the Jakobilauf provi-

runners, but also for any-and-all who simply take joy in running.
Highly recommended. Take my word for it: easy running! «

The Arlberger Bike Marathon is a fixed date on our racing
For me and my team even at the start in the pedestrian
zone we already have prickles up and down our spines. Plus,
43 km and the 1450 meters of altitude are no cakewalk to reach
the finish line. But when the locals and guests cheer on the leading
group, it is the wonderful reward for all your efforts. Our biking

» It is a great challenge to race through the slalom gates just

like the pros once. No matter if it takes a little longer: after all,
techniques and condition aren’t quite good enough to maintain a
perfect line over a 3-kilometer distance. But who cares? For the
home stretch at the Stadium of the Alpine Ski World Champion
ships 2001, you whip up your last bit of strength. That makes
crossing the finish line something akin to victory for each and
every participant. « Thomas Biersack (Editor-in-Chief, ADAC Skiatlas)

techniques of yesteryear, the way the pioneers of this sport once practiced them. We
made the long trip to the Arlberg partly because we have a very special connection to
St. Anton. We were accorded the honour of opening the Alpine Ski World Champion-
ships 2001 by performing Zdarsky’s skiing techniques to the wild applause and acclaim
of spectators. That was reason enough to participate in the Nostalgia Ski Race of the Ski
Club Arlberg, and even with success. The race was a challenge for skier and skis alike.
As was evident, some tried-and-tested racers from the “far east” of Lower Austria had a
