MFS-3 IS-manifold system

Features:

- Compactness and unique design.

- Throttle/stop valves on each station.
- System bleed valve on each manifold.

- Hand pump connections for emergency

operation.

Description:

This valve control system primarily for tankers is designed for placement in hazardous
area close to the actuators and valves by
means of a deck box (control station).

The system consists of 2 subsystems:

The manifold design is based on modular

mounting of the basic elements:

and there are 4 different control equipment

combinations:

IS-manifold
Bottom part
Top part

These elements are assembled into one unit

by means of assembly bushes (included).
This assembly is carried out without any kind
of piping.

MFS-3 IS-manifold - 6 stations:
Top part VPI-E/-C:

The IS-manifolds are available with 4 and

6 stations Cetop-3 in the MFS-3 (straight)
version.
All stations have common pressure (P) and
tank (T) ports and each control station has
separate user ports A and B.
If some of the stacking elements are to be
exchanged, the throttle/stop valves on P and
T port should be closed. It is then possible to
take off each stacking element without losing
the hydraulic system pressure.
The manifolds are provided with screws and
recess for cabinet mounting.

The bottom part contains stop valves for

high and low pressure system, quick connections for emergency operation, drain connection (low pressure system) and pressure and
tank connection for high pressure system.
Filter, quick connection for pressure gauge
(low pressure system), reduction valve and
relief valve are mounted on the bottom part.

Basic elements:

The low pressure system operates a 4/3

spring return valve or a 4/2 detent valve by
means of an on/off solenoid valve (12 or 24
V) at system pressure 7 bar.
The pilot pressure is produced by means of
a reduction valve (reducing the system pressure to pilot pressure).
The IS-solenoid valve is protected by a lter
with 3 m lter insert and an impurity indicator as well as a relief valve (set at 10 bar).
The system has its own drain connection.

The high pressure system leads the oil

ow to the actuator at system pressure 135
bar.
The oil ow can be throttled or stopped for
the whole system or individually for each
part.
The tank side is protected against pressure
peaks by means of a check valve.
The system can be emergency operated.

Basic elements:

The top part contains by-pass valve and

high and low pressure system connections.
Pressure gauge is mounted on the top part.

Non-return valve:

Non-return valve is used in the manifold (Tline) in order to prevent ow in one direction
and allow free ow in the other.
The non-return valve is as standard mounted
in the manifold.

Control equipment:

Cover plates C3: are used for blanking off

the control station connections when they are
not in use on the manifold. Because of the
two subsystems (the high and low pressure
systems) two cover plates are used.
VPI-E: Visual + electrical open/closed indication (switches).
VPI-C: Visual + electrical analog (potentiometer) indication.
TC block: Temperature compensating block
PTC block: Pressure and temperature compensating block.
For further information please see separate
data sheets.

Cover plates

IS-solenoid valves:

The solenoid valves are mounted in protection boxes which are lled with water-resistant S-736 silicone compound after mounting
of cables.

Assembly:

For assembly of the manifold, bottom part

and top part only a 6 mm Allen key 320 mm
in length is needed.
The Allen key is led into the P- and T-line,
respectively, and the parts are screwed together with the standard mounted assembly
bushes.

Electrical description:

The insulation amplier transmits a constant

current of 0.001 A to the potentiometer
through the zener barrier. Dependent on the
resistance in the potentiometer the measured
voltage in the amplier will be altered to
max. 12 V. This voltage is converted to a current signal to the meter.

The zener barrier (which is BASEEFA or PTB

approved) performs the voltage limitation by
means of resistance and the zener diodes,
and the current limitation by means of fuse.
Zener barriers, insulation ampliers and the
meters are mounted in safe area (control
console).

control circuit in the intrinsic relay. This
activates the circuit which is wired to the
indication lamps on the mimic on the control
console. The control circuit and the output

circuit are galvanically separated (i.e. no

electrical connection).
The intrinsic relay (which has a BASEEFA or
PTB approval) is mounted in safe area (control console).

Notice:

The potentiometers and the switches do not

have BASEEFA, PTB or similar approvel. According to international standards this is not
necessary. IEC publication 79.0 section one
1.3 states that apparatus which does not

generate or store more than 1.2 V, 0.1 A,

20 uJ or 25 mW need not to be certied or
marked. Since the switches do not exceed
those parameters they do not need a certicate.
