The Chairman Board of Studies in Management,
Department of management Studies,
Goa University ,

Sub:- Anticipated Changes in the management programs particularly BBA under
the department of management.
Respected Madam,

I / my organization had been involved with the BBA program for the last
_______________ years and have found that the students of the BBA program make
very good entry level / supervisory level employees the extent that they are
often the first preference over pass outs from other streams.
The products of the BBA program generally have better communication skills,
higher confidence level and better analytical skills.
During the interaction with the BBA students we have found that the focus on
skill based continuous evaluation leads to better development of skills and
problem solving orientation as opposed to rote learning based end term exams.
The system of each institute offering unique electives both in terms of subjects
as well as content has also allowed the BBA program to cater to individual needs
of industry and give us both a good blend and a spread in choice of depth and
variety of knowledge and skill that we can recruit from.
The focus on soft skills and non business courses in the program also leads to an
all-round development of the students giving them insight into other facets of life
and thus making them better employees and human beings. Infact several large
companies are breaking away from traditional mundane learning methodologies.
Companies are adopting theatre, plays, pottery, jiving and dumb charades as
pedagogy tools to help people memorize concepts better. L'Oreal India uses a
range of abstract tools such as pottery and painting to impart key skills. HSBC
India, on the other hand, discovered how learning could be better delivered when
the CEO threw open a challenge to all employees on a particular theme.

students in such activities can give them a competitive advantage in their career
and also some such skills can be converted by enterprising students into
entrepreneurial ventures.

I would request you to the take the above into consideration in detail before
undertaking any changes that may be detrimental to a very effective program. I
would also request you to consider a broad based consultation including industry
in improving this program further keeping in mind the above unique features of
the same.
Thanking you.
