Jeremiah Prison Ministry

We are serving him by serving them! ”His mercy endures forever” Psalm 106:1

Is it possible that February is half over?

now it is going by too fast. I hope you all weathered the blizzard! I have

Jeremiah & Valerie are engaged

December 26, 2009 was an exciting today for two special people. Jeremiah
proposed to Valerie with family present for the joyous occasion. You can see the
smile on both of their faces and it’s still there today. Jeremiah totally surprised
Valerie, and both families were in on the secret pulling it off without telling her in
advance. It was an awesome moment in the visiting room that day!

We are excited for them. Its hard to believe that they have been seeing each
other now for four years. It takes a special woman to date, fall in love and get
engaged to a special man in prison. They have their hope & trust in the Lord that
Jeremiah will be released and then they will set the wedding date at that time.
So stay tuned for the great day we announce the wedding date! We will be there!

Juan’s Testimony

♦ My name is Juan Santiago and this is a short testimony of how good God has
been to me. I have been walking with the Lord for about six years. It became real
to me when I came to prison. When I had my freedom, I was a “seasonal
Christian” meaning I only went to church on the big holidays. My mom always
instilled godly principles around our home but I chose to live differently. As I grew
older it only got worse and I began to live like a wild teen. I sold drugs which was
my main thing became easier to do. I would try to make as much money as
possible but there still was an empty void.

♦ Bad decision after another brought me to where I am now in prison serving a 9 to

21 year sentence. I felt hopeless and alone! My mom would encourage me by
mail to always read the Book of Psalms. After all her teaching I finally decide to
listen. I dove right in and slowly I found comfort despite of my crazy situation. I
then took the biggest step and confessed to God how much I need Him and His
Juan Santiago forgiveness. I confessed Him as my Lord & Savior in that cell on my knees. I
believed and received God’s forgiveness.

♦ I started attending Bible Studies growing more in the faith. I found brother who
would continue to encourage me to “Run The Race.” It felt good to be around
those who had a sincere passion for the Gospel of Christ. I then was asked to help
volunteer with the services here at the prison. I accepted and I have been
blessed ever since. God has bee so good to me! Everyday is not the same in
place but Jesus sure lightens the load! I was 21 when I to prison and I am now
27 but Jesus made the difference. All praise, honor & glory to my Lord Jesus
Christ who loved me when I was unlovable. His grace is amazing and His mercy is
new every morning, accept Him you won’t go wrong.
Juan & Tom
♦ In closing my day as a Christian has been better than my best day as a sinner!
Jesus made the difference and He continues to! Here is a scripture of
encouragement for you: “For I know my thoughts towards thee said the Lord,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11
Be Encouraged and Be Blessed! Juan Santiago

The Grocery List

Louise Redden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked
into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble
manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries.

She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had
seven children and they needed food. John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her
and requested that she leave his store at once.

Visualizing the family needs, she said “Please, sir, I will bring you the money just
as soon as I can.” John told her he could not give her credit, since she did not
have a charge account at his store.

Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the

conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocer
that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her family.
 Going past
The grocer said in a very reluctant voice, 'Do you have a grocery list?' Louise
replied “Yes sir.” “OK” he said, “put your grocery list on the scales and whatever

The grocer stood there in utter disgust. Finally, he grabbed the piece of paper

from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement. It was not a grocery
list, it was a prayer, which said: "Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am
leaving this in your hands."

The grocer gave her the groceries that he had gathered and stood in
stunned silence. Louise thanked him and left the store. The other
customer handed a fifty-dollar bill to the grocer and said, “It was worth
every penny of it."

The Whole Armor of God ~ Ephesians 6:10-13
1. The Bible says that we have a spiritual enemy that devices strategies
and schemes against. Paul said we are not to be ignorant of his devices
or strategies.
2. When you received Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior, you broke your
alliance with the devil. His assignment is to bring enough trouble into
your life that you say, “What’s the use?” He wants you to walk away from Ephesians 6:10-13
God’s Word. His plan is to steal, kill & destroy.
3. Paul says to be strong in the Lord & the power of His might. The whole armor
of God will help us to stand against the strategies of the evil one.

4. How do you put on the whole armor of God so you won’t be defeated? It’s through continual relationship with
the Lord. As long as your relationship with Lord is in tact, your armor is in tact.
5. The Bible say that when you have faith in Him, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” This doesn’t
mean you won’t have trouble. This means that the devil’s assignment will not accomplish what he wants to do.
6. Paul said, “I fought the good fight, I finished the course, and I kept the faith.” The enemy’s plan is to get you
to quit before you finish the race that is set before you.
7. When you make a spiritual progress, the enemy will try to stir up trouble against you. When you take a stand
for the Lord, your spiritual enemy will challenge you. Satan is a defeated foe. Jesus
defeated him over 2,000 years ago. He stripped him of his power when he rose from the
grave. We must renew our mind with the Word of God everyday. God is your ever-
