Biography on Twelfth Night

William Shakespeare was born in late April 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon to John Shakespeare
and Mary Arden. It is generally accepted that he attended the King's New School, the Stratford
grammar school known for its classical curriculum, because of his knowledge of Latin classics
and written scenes recalling grammar school experiences such as exercises memorized by
schoolboys. It is known for certain that at age 18, he married Anne Hathaway with whom he
had 3 children. Susanna was born May 26, 1583 and the twins, Judith and Hamnet, were born
February 2, 1585. It is not known for sure how he supported his family or where they lived but
by the early 1590's, he was established in London as both an actor and playwright. The
majority of his money however, did not come from his writing or performances but from his
position as a sharer in the Lord Chamberlain's Men, which earned him 1/10 of the company's
profit. This was enough to allow Shakespeare to become a successful real estate investor.
The public acting of women was prohibited in the England of Shakespeare's time and so writers
would often emphasize the femininity of their female characters so as to remove the necessity
of an actual female in the role. Shakespeare was greatly responsible for roles in which female
characters spent much of their time disguised as boys. This helped to deflect attention from the
fact that the part was actually played by a young boy.
A play in that time was often commissioned by an acting company, which could then sell it to a
publisher at its own discretion without further compensating the author. Shakespeare did not
take part in the process of publishing his own plays. Thus, in his lifetime alone, twenty
publishers bought different editions of his individual plays but none took any special steps to
ensure that the text was correct. His name was rarely printed on his work until the 1623
publication of the First Folio because its use had little commercial value at the time.
Shakespeare's First Folio was not published until 7 years after his death in 1616. He was
outlived by his wife but chose to leave the majority of his estate to his daughter Susanna. He
also left 300 to his daughter Judith. Hamnet had died at age 11. William Shakespeare was
buried in the chancel of Holy Trinity Church, having died on or near his estimated April 23
birthday.

Twelfth Night is a Romantic Comedy that was written by William Shakespeare. This Romantic
Comedy deals and relates to real life events, as people in life hides their true colors and
identities so that others won't know their true inner self..
For example,Viola played a character in the name of Cesario in Twelfth Night. She actually had
true feelings for Orsino, but couldn't express her feelings because of her disguise being a man.
Her disguise instead was to help Olivia hook up with the man that loves Orsino but when she
(Olivia) rejected Otsino's love.
It was now in Act 5 when Viola confesses her love to Orsino and the two characters married to
each other. Now that was a true definition of LOVE TRIANGLE in Twelfth Night.
Very interesting book that will show everyone that love is indeed crazy, and I enjoyed reading
this Romantic play, because not only was all of ye characters confused in the play they were in
love.
Twelfth Night being the night of fun and disguise makes this book interesting. This is because
Shakespeare made love seem hard to get. When in reality love is really hard to get. Malvolio
was a great character because people tend to be like him. Even though he was ride and thought
he was the boss of everyone, deep down you know there is that loveable person that is really
nice.
I swear love and false identities take the stage in this play. Shakespeare also did a great job
with displaying the deceptive traits of every character and always finding a way to place another
twist into the play.
Now humor is the hardest thing to understand in a foreign language coming from a foreign
culture. Shakespeare language and times are foreign to us. For example Sir.Andrew Toby Belch
and Fiesta (the clown),but let us just pay close attention to Firsta he was the clown he have a
very good sense of humor, also his lines of words has more than hidden meaning and jokes
which make the audience laugh . Even though he was the clown we believe that he was going
to be very dumb, but it wasn't like that he was one of the character that has a good level of IQ.
Shakespeare uses the theme of disguise in twelfth Night. Shakespeare has been able to
manipulate and uses disguise in whatever way he likes, to usually portray comedy,
misunderstanding, and affection also to give information to the audience without the characters
knowing.
Shakespeare is very clever in the way that he creates certain contrasting dramatic effects such
as comedy, tragedy and uneasiness through disguise. One of the most overt examples of
disguise is through the character of Viola as mentioned earlier. She was stranded in Illyria after
a shipwreck, she dresses as a make in order to work as a Eunch for the Duke Orsion.
Act two, scene four. Shakespeare challenges gender roles and the conventions of romance in
his use of disguise seeing Orsino battle with his feelings.
