REVISION REASON:
This revision No. 1 is issued to:
Include MOD references and implementation rank, for production aircraft
Add reason for non mixability between HFP PN 4E33xx and 4E46xx series
Update the PN cross reference table
1. PURPOSE:
The purpose of this article is to provide operators with the necessary information to enable replacement of the heated
floor panels (HFP), Part Number (PN) 4E33xx, 4E40xx and 4E47xx series with new Titanium HFP PN 4E46xx series.
2. BACKGROUND:
2.1 Heated Floor Panels PN 4E33xx series
The combination of sixteen (16) Heated Floor Panels PN 4E33xx series and the new defined floor panel PN F5367xxxxxx
were introduced in the door 1, 2, 3 and 4 (LH and RH) areas on A330/A340 family aircraft, as a product improvement further
to airlines indications of too low temperatures on such areas.
Airbus has been receiving reports of Aluminum HFP (Part Number PN 4E33xx series) delamination and corrosion.
Several other reports have shown cases of damaged panel with presence of burnt holes on the inner aluminum
plate.
As a consequence the affected Heated Floor Panels lose their heating function, thus affecting the temperature level
at the doors and galleys areas. Flight diversions have been reported due to overheating of HFP located at door 2
LH or due to a burning plastic smell with an unusual high temperature of the cabin floor in the door 4 LH area.
Corrosion and delamination were found at the aluminum sheets of the HFP, mainly located at the edges and the
outer fastener bore holes. The flanges of the HFP are delaminated in between the Aluminum sheet, with
possibility of moisture ingress in that area. Findings are due to:
Damage of the surface protection mainly at the edges and in bore holes
Moisture ingress between the HFP and the honeycomb floor panel
Galvanic corrosion between heated aluminum plate and adjacent carbon fiber panels
Picture 4.: Corrosion at the edges and the outer fastener bore holes
Corroded panels are not repairable.
2.3 Temporary solution for HFP, pending the availability of PN 4E46xx series
When a HFP is reported inoperative or regulating too hot, it is recommended to perform the Operational Check of the
Door Area Heating System by using the Test Button on each Control Unit as per Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM)
25-27-00-710-801 (for HFP PN 4E33xx) and Bite Test of the Door Area Heating System as per AMM 25-27-00-740801 (for HFP PN 4E33xx, 4E40xx and 4E47xx).
When a failure in form of overheat or corrosion (visually detected) of the panels is identified, three possibilities
are proposed up to availability of the Titanium HFP PN 4E46xx series:
a)
When the structural integrity of the affected panel is still intact, deactivate the heated floor panel system for
this door prior the aircraft departure by pulling and securing all circuit breakers associated to the system as
per AMM 25-27-00-040-801 Deactivation of the Heating Floor Panels and Aircraft Schematic Manual
(ASM) 25-27-00 Schema 01.
b) For HFP PN 4E33xx series: When panels are in a shape that they will no longer support mechanical
loads, deactivate the system via the respective circuit breakers and replace the corroded heated floor panels
by locally manufactured dummy panels from the same size made from al2024 or al6061 with a thickness of
3mm or 0.125inch.
c) Replace the heated floor panel (HFP) with the same PN of HFP.
For HFP PN 4E33xx, when the HFP system is deactivated, the Maintenance Planning Document (MPD) task 252700-01-1
DOOR AREA HEATING SYSTEM (interval '2C') shall no longer be applied.
4. REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:
As listed in the IPC, the new Titanium heated floor panels, PN 4E46xx, are replacing the following HFPs:
PN 4E33xx series that shall be removed in conjunction with the adjacent HFP and their associated
floor panels, which are PN F5367xxxx (listed in IPC 53-XX),
PN 4E40xx,
PN 4E47xx.
- The Titanium HFP PN 4E46xx installed in production, through MOD55903, shall be replaced by the same new PN
4E46xx.
- In-service, HFP PN 4E33xx series are one-way interchangeable with the new HFP PN 4E46xx series with the
following conditions:
PN 4E33xx may be replaced:
o With PN 4E33xx
o With PN 4E46xx only if the conditions listed in section 4.1 are fulfilled
Once PN 4E46xx, has been installed as a spare part, it may be replaced:
o With PN 4E46xx
o With PN 4E33xx if the adjacent HFP PN 4E46xx is also replaced by PN 4E33xx
(please refer to section 4.1 for more details) and the associated floor panels are reinstalled.
- In-service, HFP PN 4E40xx and 4E47xx series are one-way interchangeable with the new HFP PN 4E46xx:
PN 4E40xx/4E47xx may be replaced by PN 4E46xx or PN 4E40xx/4E47xx
Once PN 4E46xx has been installed as a spare part, it may be replaced by PN 4E46xx or PN
4E40xx/4E47xx.
Airbus recommends to follow the same conditions as listed for the replacement of HFP PN 4E33xx series, please refer to
section 4.1 for more details.
Note: As already listed in the IPC, HFP PN 4E40xx is one-way interchangeable with (Replaced
by) with HFP PN 4E47xx.
FIN 20DS and FIN 22DS shall be replaced at the same time
FIN 21DS and FIN 23DS shall be replaced at the same time

FIN 113DS and FIN 114DS shall be replaced at the same time
FIN 117DS, FIN 118DS, FIN 119DS and FIN 121DS shall be replaced at the same time
Note: The above replacement rules are applicable to HFP PN 4E33xx series and are recommendations for HFP PN
4E40xx and 4E47xx series, due to galvanic couple that may lead to an accelerated corrosion of the remaining composite
HFP.
The HFP PN 4E33xx series shall be removed in conjunction with their associated floor panels, which are PN F5367xxxx
(listed in IPC 53-XX):
