dock and truck, can be operated via mechanical spring or hydraulic
powered systems.

 Dock lift: serves same function as a leveler but operates similar to a scissor
lift to allow for greater height adjustments.

 Dock seals: compressible foam blocks against which the truck presses
when parked; seals are used at exterior truck bays in colder climates where
this will provide protection from the weather.

 Truck or vehicle restraint system: a strong metal hook mounted to

the base of the dock which will hook to the frame or bumper of a
trailer and prevents it from rolling away during loading operations, can
be operated via manual, hydraulic, or electrical systems; this system
can replace or work in conjunction with wheel chocks.

 5 - x-ray doors:

 We use it in:
 1. X-ray room:
When the targeted X-ray beam hits the human
body, a small amount of the beam is deflected
by the body and scatters outwards, hitting the
walls, floor, ceiling and door of the X-ray room.
It is this small amount of X-ray that we help to
contain using our X-ray doors.

 2. CT scan room:
The 3-D computer image of the body is built up by taking multiple X-rays at incremental steps. The image is
then viewed on a computer screen.
Like the simple X-ray machine, the X-ray beams direction are known and easily absorbed. Some scatter still
occurs and has to be contained.

 3. Radio-therapy room;
The radio therapy room is used for the treatment of patients. Radio therapy is the use of X-rays and similar
rays to treat disease. The X-rays are targeted at the treated area in short bursts over a number of days.
Specifications:

5. Vertico Garage Doors
 We would recommend one of two makes of operators that are suitable to fitting
to side hinged garage doors with the addition of swing arm conversion kit.

 The swing arms attach to the door leaves around 1½ inches below the top of
the leaf so the arms sit just below the door stays. They are attached to the trolley
that runs along the boom, pushing and pulling the door leaves open. The boom
bracket is fitted flush with the bottom of the head frame, just above the doorstop.
Each door leaf can open to around 115% assuming that opening could be
achieved manually

 The security that the electric operator offers is excellent. The spring arrangement
in the leading arm combines with the force of the secondary arm to create a
very strong closing.

 If your side hinged doors are either timber or steel there should be not be a
problem attaching the swing arm plate to the door leaf.

 The electric motor, hydraulic pump and internal rack-and-pinion transmission

system are compactly housed in a single block in anodized aluminum. The motor
unit is mounted to the inside face of the lintel just above the top of the door using
a specially fabricated mounting bracket. As the pinion rotates the door leaf is
opened and closed by means of a telescopic arm which ensures an even and
perfectly linear movement.
 Installation carried out by The Garage Door Centre with 3 pairs of electric
hydraulic operators
 Up and over one piece garage doors come in two forms known either as retractable or canopy, and the type of
motorization kit required will be dependent on which of these two options your door is.

A retractable up and over garage door has lifting springs at the side and horizontal guides in which rollers are guided
and the door is supported at its four corners during the entire opening and closing motion. This leads to a very smooth
and resistance free operation and this in turn means that these retractable doors only require a motor and a belt or
chain mechanism to open and close them.

The complete retractable motorized system can be fitted in a couple of hours with a simple tool kit,
and manual adjustments are kept to a minimum by electronics that recognize the doors opening
characteristic and accommodate to them.
 A canopy garage door uses a torsion spring above the door panel
and vertical guides at the sides for the door rollers and it does not
have four constant points of transition contact like a retractable door.
This results in canopy doors having a less sophisticated movement than
a retractable door and in turn means that they require a much more
complex and potentially expensive conversion kit.
They are called sectional garage doors as they open and close in
separated individual panel sections, Operating vertically without any
swing out from the structural opening and tracking mechanism at all.
Because of this operation almost any shape of garage
opening can be installed to, i.e. arched, angled corners, etc.
Unusual shaped openings do not cause a problem with a sectional
garage door.
 Sectional garage doors will make full use of the space in front of or behind
your garage opening as they all open vertically. This mechanism is ideal for
shorter driveways, garages next to pathways and internal space problems
with higher 4 x 4 and taller vehicles.
 The spring system will provide better and smoother assistance
during operation and will be particularly useful on larger sized doors. All
sectional garage doors can be either manual or remote control
operated and in either case are very smooth and quiet because of
excellent construction and design elements.

•There are 3 main materials for the sectional door panel

construction:
1. Galvanized Steel
2. Timber - hardwood or softwood
3. GRP (fiberglass)

All insulated sectional garage

doors are foam filled, double
skinned galvanized steel panel
construction NOT single skin panels with polystyrene stuck to the
inside face.
 Sectional garage doors have a varied choice of either torsion or
tension spring mechanisms. The spring position can be either side
mounted tension, front mounted torsion, rear mounted torsion or
horizontal inside track mounted tension.

 Each different option requires a slightly different headroom

requirement and the important structural fixing points vary for
installing the springs and tracks.
 Silvelox garage doors are all built entirely in
timber and characterized by a particular building
technique that ensures solidity, non-deformability
and elegance. Stringent quality control standards, outstanding traditional
craftsmanship, and timber of the highest grade combine to produce possibly one of
the world‟s finest garage doors.

•The 80mm thick modular main door panel provides effective

insulation and acoustic properties. The range of styles, timber types
and factory finishes set the doors apart from all others.

•The unique pedestrian door option allowing access without

opening the entire garage door is a highly desirable and practical
solution that does not compromise the visual appearance of any
of the door designs available. Simply turn the garage door handle
in the opposite direction and you have a pedestrian door with a
threshold as low as technically possible.
•The Silvelox garage door is incredibly easy to operate and adopts a patented system that
allows the door panel to lift itself when the handle is turned, thus perfecting
the up and over action with lateral counterweights.
•Each garage door, even if ordered in the manual version, is pre-arranged to
allow the use of automation.
• Remote control operation is built into the upper crossbeam of the frame therefore not
encroaching into internal garage space.
 The Vertico garage door is constructed of the highest quality insulated aluminum slats with an
exceptionally high quality powder coating.
 Each garage door is made precisely to measure for every opening and it will be fitted to maximize the
available width and height for convenience when entering or existing your garage.

The Vertico garage door comes as standard with radio remote control, motor drive
and electronic hindrance stop.
Two programmable door opening positions enable the
user to have the choice of either full opening for car access or
narrower pedestrian opening width - control at the simple
push of a button.
The electric motor guide channel is integrated elegantly in the wall guide
channel not down the centre of the garage like other traditional motor drives.
 Standard Equipment includes:
1. Any size up to 5600 wide
2. Requires only 50mm lintel headroom internally
3. Only 130mm degree of radius at the corner to save lateral wall
space.

 Definition:
It is a kind of special doors which is responsible
for insulating the internal air of the refrigerator or the freezer room and the
external air , plus keeping a certain degree of temperature constant
inside the storage room.

 Applications:
It is used in all types of industrial and commercial fields that needs
a cold storage

 Components:
It is composed of two metal sheets plated with electrostatic
(to avoid rust) , between them a layer of polystyrene (2-5cm
thickness) which act the role of the insulator.
That‟s not only the only components of cold storage door but it is the
components of the most used kind of these doors
But earlier the doors were made of some kinds of wood that insulate
moisture and doesn‟t absorb it
 Installation:
The door is loaded on two side hinges , they are made of
steel to resist the weight of the door and the torsion force.
 Opening techniques:
 Definition:
Fire-resisting doors are vital to ensure occupants are able to evacuate to a safe place.
Specified and installed doors will hold back fire and smoke, preventing escape routes
becoming unusable as well as preventing the spread of fire, These will give some limited
protection against fire spread, but only a purpose-built fire-resisting door that has been
tested to an approved standard will provide the necessary protection. The level of
protection provided by the door is measured, primarily by determining the time taken for a
fire to breach the integrity of the door assembly, some standard ratings include 20-90
minute doors, together with its resistance to the passage of hot gases and flame. It may be
possible to upgrade the fire resistance of existing doors

 Components

 Fire doors may be made of a combination of materials, such as

timber
steel
gypsum (as an endothermic fill)
vermiculite-boards
glass sections

 Edges of a fire door usually need to have fire

rated seals which can be composed of:
An intumescent strip, which expands when exposed to heat
Neoprene weather-stripping
Gaskets to prevent the passage of smoke
 Some fire doors are equipped with internal windows which must remain intact under fire conditions
and hose stream impact resistance, and can include:
 Wire mesh glass
 Liquid sodium silicate fills between two window panes
 Ceramic glasses
 Borosilicate glass
Wired glass typically withstands the fire, whereas the sodium silicate liquid
also acts to insulate heat transfer, due to the endothermic action of this chemical.

 Door handles:
They should be chosen so that they give security but do not allow tenants to be locked out of their lettings
by the action of the self closers. For this reason, the best design is a simple mortice lock and door handles
which require a key to lock the door, but the inside has a thumb turn instead of a key. This means that the
occupant can escape from the room in an emergency without relying on a key. A Rim lock with a rollerball
is also acceptable.
 Installation:
As well as ensuring the door is hung properly and squarely, it is also very
important that where a fire door is installed, any gaps left in the opening
between the wall and the door frame must be properly filled with fire resisting
material. Fire doors are normally installed by a carpenter.

Most fire doors are designed to be kept closed at all times. Some doors are
designed to stay open under normal circumstances, and close automatically
in the event of a fire. Whichever method is used, the door's movement should
never be impaired by a doorstop or other obstacle. Some fire doors are held
open with an electromagnet, which may be wired to a fire alarm system. If the
power fails or the fire alarm is activated, the coil is de-energized and the door
closes on its own.
 Impact Doors

 Revolving Doors

 Definition:
Impact Doors are an economical solution when unimpeded traffic is
necessary. Impact Doors are typically composite and can handle
repeated cycles of impact from pallet jacks and forklifts. They
customarily have "gravity" hinges that allow them to close without using
springs, hydraulics or electrical devices, making them less costly to
purchase and maintain.

.
 Applications:
 Food Processing
 Cold Storage Warehouses
 Manufacturing Plants
 Restaurants
 Retail Stores
 Supermarkets
 Pharmacies
 Convenience stores

 Specifications:
They are double-acting so they can be driven through from either direction. Most are equipped with
vision lights for safety, as well as guards and kick plates to protect the door and take the abuse at
impact points. They can be sealed to conform to the requirements of the USDA, FDA, temperature,
dust containment or any other barrier requirements.
Installations:
Simply install the upper hinge bracket lower jamb guard.
Slide the door into place and tighten two locking bolts.
Fine centering adjustments to the hinge may be made using a screwdriver to accommodate out-of-
square openings or other variables.
 Definition:
A revolving door typically consists of three or four doors that hang on a
center shaft and rotate around a vertical axis within a round enclosure.
Revolving doors are energy efficient in as much as they prevent drafts, thus
preventing increases in the heating or cooling required for the building. At
the same time, revolving doors allow large numbers of people to pass in
and out.
 Specifications:
Around the center shaft of the revolving door there are usually three or
four doors called "wings" or "leaves." Large diameter revolving doors
can accommodate strollers and luggage racks. The tallest revolving
door currently is approximately 16 feet (4.9 m) high with 4 wings. The
glass doors allow people to see and anticipate each other while
passing through the door.
 Classification:
▪ Manual revolving doors rotate with push bars causing all wings to rotate.
Revolving doors typically have a "speed control" (governor) to prevent
people from spinning the doors too fast.
▪ Automatic revolving doors are powered above/below the central shaft, or
along the perimeter. Automatic revolving doors have safety sensors; but
there has been at least one fatality.[3]

response to voltage and thus allow to control the amount of
light and heat passing through. In electro-chromic windows,
the electro-chromic material changes its opacity: it changes

 CLASSIFICATION:

1 .Electrochromic devices .
2 .Polymer dispersed liquid crystal devices .
Electrochromic devices :
Electrochromic devices change
light transmission properties in response
to voltage and thus allow to control the
amount of light and heat passing
through. In electrochromic windows,
the electrochromic material changes its
opacity: it changes between a colored,
translucent state (usually blue) and a
transparent state.
A burst of electricity is required for
changing its opacity, but once the
change has been effected, no
electricity is needed for maintaining the
particular shade which has been
reached. Darkening occurs from the
edges, moving inward, and is a slow
process, ranging from many seconds to
several minutes depending on door size
.
 Polymer dispersed liquid crystal devices :
 In polymer dispersed liquid crystal devices (PDLCs), liquid
crystals are dissolved or dispersed into a liquid polymer
followed by solidification or curing of the polymer. During
the change of the polymer from a liquid to solid, the liquid
crystals become incompatible with the solid polymer and
form droplets throughout the solid polymer. The curing
conditions affect the size of the droplets that in turn affect
the final operating properties of the "smart window".
Typically, the liquid mix of polymer and liquid crystals is
placed between two layers of glass or plastic that include a
thin layer of a transparent, conductive material followed by
curing of the polymer, thereby forming the basic sandwich
structure of the smart window. This structure is in effect a
capacitor.
