Gang Chen has 23 years of professional architectural experience on a diverse field of project types, including:
retail, healthcare, educational, industrial, hospitality and telecommunication projects, etc. He is very
familiar with agency submittal procedure, and ADA, Title 24, OSHPD & DSA requirements. He is an expert in
the design and construction of a variety of unusual projects: well-known large-scale healthcare and hospitality
projects with over one billion dollars in construction cost, award winning school design, highly acclaimed urban
design/streetscape projects, multi-family housing and high end custom homes, etc. Mr. Chen has professional
experience with several celebrated architectural design firms, including: Nadel Architects, Inc., Wimberly
Allison Tong and Goo (WATG), HOK/LBL, GAA Architects (formerly Gilbert Aja and Associates), and JAG
Architecture (formerly J & G Architects). Many of his projects have been published extensively in Architecture,
Design Journal, Architectural Record, Los Angeles Times and Orange County Register, etc.

Gang Chen is responsible for office management, project management, including business development (bringing
projects into the office), hiring staff and building project team, maintaining the budget and ensuring the
profitability of the office, design, design development, construction document preparation, construction
administration, and coordination with clients, consultants, agencies and staff members.

Gang is also in charge of LEED research, Building LEED certification assistance and consultation, and LEED
publications.

January, 2008 to February 2009, Vice President & Managing Principal, Perlman Architects of California,
Inc.
Gang Chen is responsible for office management, project management, including business development (bringing
projects into the office), hiring staff and build project team, maintain the budget and ensuring the profitability of
the office, design, design development, construction document preparation, construction administration,
coordination with clients, consultants, agencies and staff members. He brought in 6 signed contracts with about
1.5 millions of US dollars in design fees within the first year. His clients include many US national developers
and tenants, California and China developers and tenants, etc.

December, 2000 to January, 2008: Senior Project Manager, Nadel Architects, Inc.
Issue contracts and additional service to clients and issue consultant contracts, train and supervise project team,
quality control, develop project checklists and standard details and typical sheets, write specifications, maintain
overall budget and profit for the projects.

Gang Chen was the principal manager for 9 of the 14 buildings that form the 43-acre, 1 million square foot retail
center at Amerige Heights, Fullerton, CA. He was the principal manager for the 113-acre, over 1 million square

foot retail power center at Crossing at Corona (the largest shopping center in Riverside County), and for the
Park West Shopping Center at Stockton, and for 5 of the 6 major buildings at the San Jose Market Center at
San Jose, including Marshalls, Cost Plus, Michaels, PetSmart & Office Depot, and for 7 major buildings at
Grand Plaza at San Marcos, CA, two major buildings at the Yucaipa Valley Centers in Yucaipa, etc.

Gang was also in charge of many tenant projects and is very familiar with their prototypes, including Ross, dd
Discount stores, Michaels, PetSmart, Sportsmart, Sports Chalet, Staples, Office Depot, Walgreens, Pier 1
Imports, Marshalls, Cost Plus, Famous Footwear, Aaron Brothers, Starbucks, etc.

June, 1998 to December, 2000: Senior Project Manager, JAG Architecture, Inc.
Gang Chen was the principal Project Manager for Lucky 478, Hawthorne. A 71,189 s.f. prototypical
supermarket, with Deli, Bakery, Dairy, Grocery, Produce, Meat Sales, Photo, General Sales, Floral and Drive-
Thru Pharmacy.

His duties included: develop the whole design development and construction documents package, set up the
framework for the project, assign job task and supervise staff, coordinate Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical,
Plumbing, and Refrigeration consultants, answer questions in pre-bid meeting, process RFI and shop drawings,
field observation and field visit reports, certify payment and process change order requests, etc. Gang Chen was
also the primary Project Manager for Lucky 676, Huntington Beach, Lucky 656, Laguna Niguel and Lucky 451,
Huntington Beach, Albertsons 6534, Orange, Sav-On 9510, Westminster.

Gang Chen was responsible of the full package of Design development and Construction Drawings and
Coordinating Consultants for these projects.

May, 1997 to June, 1998: Project Manager, Jeff Matzek & Associates, Inc.
Industrial Projects: Koll Plantation, City of Industrial, a 3,203,838 s.f., and 14 tilt-up building complexes on
73.55 acres. Gang was the principal Project Manager in charge of the DAB and CD packages. Responsibilities
include establishing and meeting project schedules and budgets, setting up the frameworks for the project, ADA,
UBC and Title-24 compliance, quality control, etc. Gang was also the primary Project Manager for Oberthur
Smart Cards, USA, Inc. (Kirk Plastic), and a 106,715 s.f. tenant improvement for an existing tilt-up building.
Residential Projects: Kaufman & Broad homes (standard plans & options).

June, 1996 to May, 1997: Project Manager/Job Captain, Wimberly Allison Tong and Goo (WATG), F+A
Architects, Inc. & API Consultants.
Hospitality Projects: Venetian Hotel/Casino, Las Vegas, a major project that includes two new hotel towers
totaling 6,000 keys, and two casinos, over 200,000 s.f. of retail space, a roof garden with a health and fitness
center and a wedding chapel, two theaters, interior canals with gondolas, and over one million square feet of
exhibition space. The architectural character incorporates both classic Italianate design and 14th-16th century
Venice, completes with replicas of the famous Doges Palace, Campanile and Rialto Bridge. The total construction
cost for this project is 1.3 billion dollars. Gang was in charge of life safety code research and coordination with
related the exiting consultant, etc. He also worked with the lead designer and developed the two main elevations
for the project. The elevations sheets that he developed were among the best sheets for the entire set of design
development drawings. Gang Chen was also the principal Project Manager for Las Casuelas Restaurant, Palm
Springs.

Educational Projects: "Space Saver" Intermediate School, Santa Ana, CA, an 116,000 s.f. state-of the-art multi-
story fundamental school for 1,300 students on 11 acres, built partially over a new 250-space parking garage
constructed for use by an adjacent shopping center.

The construction cost for this project was 22 million dollars. This project won the AIA design award. Other
educational projects include: Modernization of five schools for Sacramento Unified School District,

Modernization of ten schools for Artesia Unified School District, Modernization of Arminta School for Los
Angeles Unified School District, etc.

Healthcare Projects: Hoag Health Center, Costa Mesa; Kaiser Permanente, including Claims and Referrals,
Pasadena; Genetic Testing Laboratory, Los Angeles; Parsons, Pasadena; Specimen Processing Laboratory, Los
Angeles, etc.

April, 1995 to May, 1996: Job Captain, GAA Architects, Inc.


Telecommunication Projects: about sixty AirTouch Cellular projects, including all three prototypes: a
prefabricated ACP building and a monopole, underground vaults and roof top penthouses. The construction cost
for these projects is over 20 million dollars. Other Telecommunication Projects include: Nextel projects.

Retail Projects: HomeBase, Pomona; Bloomingdale, Century City; seven Macy's stores; Sears, Long Beach;
Standard Brands Paint located at La Mesa, Hollywood, Torrance, Santa Monica, etc; Queen Carpet; Owens &
Minors.

April, 1994 to April, 1995: Architectural Designer, HOK/LBL (Lee Burkhart Liu, Inc.)
Healthcare Projects: LAC+USC, a 2.4 million-square-foot replacement healthcare project for the Los Angeles
County and University of Southern California (LAC+USC), include an eighteen-story main hospital tower, an
outpatient department and a diagnosis and treatment department. The construction cost for this project was 1.2
billion dollars, and the final package contains 3,600 sheets of construction drawings. Naval Air Station, Lemoore,
California; this project was published extensively in Architecture, Design Journal, Architectural Record and Los
Angeles Times and Orange County Register. Mr. Chen's other healthcare projects include: Veteran
Administration Hospital, City of Sepulveda. Surveying and work with roofing consultants on reroofing.

November, 1992 to April, 1994: Architectural Designer, Siloam, Denis Kurutz and Associates, Richard
Chong & Associates, Hannan Development, Inc.

High-rise Building: Nanjing Commercial Building, a 39-story high-rise building with commercial/retail on the
lower 8 levels and hotel for the upper levels (including a presidential suite on the top level) and underground
parking garage.
Urban Design/Streetscape: Fremont Street Experience, Las Vegas, a huge space frame covered part of the
Fremont Street, with people mover, and six surrounding buildings. This project was published in Architecture,
April 1996.

Residential Projects: Harvey Residence, Hollywood (Custom home, 10 millions dollars in construction cost);
Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan Residence; Custom House at 2402 Washington Blvd., Santa Monica; Plaza
Vermont (60 unit condominium).

Public & Governmental Projects: Administration Offices, Building 5240, Utah; Laundry Building, Building
4229, Utah; Gymnasium, Utah; Xeriscape Restoration Garden, Long Beach.

September, 1990 to November, 1992: Architectural Consultant for various Architectural firms and Developers.
