Materials:
1. marker, staff on board, chips, cards

Procedure: Board:
1. Students will play Rabbit and a Possum
2 rounds
2. Teacher will clap the 1st measure of Rabbit and a Possum
Students will echo teacher
Students will clap and say the rhythm on rhythmic syllables
3. Teacher will say, can you find that rhythm in the sneaky snake?
4. Students will go through the sneaky snake on the board
Teacher will ask, which one should we erase? why? after each run through
Chairs:
1. Teacher will instruct students to walk back to their chairs while echoing rhythmic patterns
-Ryhthmic patterns:
Link last rhythmic pattern with Hear Great Spirit
2. Students and teacher will sing Hear Great Spirit

3. Students will sing once more, teacher will come in as a round


4. Teacher will split the class into two groups, students will sing the song in a round
5. Teacher will have students read from her hands in solfege: Hear Great Spirit
6. Teacher will sing Hear Great Spirit in solfege and come in as a round with herself with hand
signs
Teacher will ask : What am I doing?
7. Students will try to sing a round with themselves with hand signs slowly

4. Teacher will model a rhythmic pattern and assess if students can identify My Paddles Keen
and Bright (individual)
5. Teacher will listen for correct pitches and rhythms while learning My Paddles Keen and
Bright (group)
