runningeverythingandtheyhaveletusdown.Ourcurrentgovernmenthascometorepresenta
narrowgroupofspecialinterestsandthosepoliticallywellconnected.Wehavereachedapoint
wheretheaverageOregonianisntbeingrepresentedinSalem.Weneedagovernmentwhere
momsanddads,kids,andtheOregontaxpayerhaveaseatatthetable.Iwanttorepresentall
Oregoniansandgiveeveryoneaseatatthetableonceagain.

Oregonhaseveryadvantageimaginable:accesstoAsianmarkets,multipledeepwaterports,

timber,greatagriculturalandranchlands,freshwater,abundantCO2freesourcesofelectricity,
undevelopedrenewableenergyresources,abundantfisheries,strongmanufacturingbase,a
vibranthightechindustry,andsomeofthegreatestcompaniesonearth.Whatarewedoingwith

rates.Wespendabout$400,000perclassroom,yetonlyabout$100,000ofthatevergetsintothe
classroom.Wehavetodoamuchbetterjobofgettingmoneytothekids.Weneedtoshiftpower
backtoparentsandlocalcommunitiesandprovidemoreschoolchoice.Everykiddeservesthe
verybesteducationsotheyareabletoreachtheirfullpotential.
B.Stopwastefulspending:spendingisup63percentinthelastdecade.Everyyearspending
increasesmoreandmore.Careerpoliticianswasted$310milliononawebsitethatneverworked
and$195millionforabridgethatwasneverbuilt.WeneedtostopwastingOregonianshard
earnedtaxdollars.Wealsoneedtocrowdsourcethestatesbudgettoprovidenewinsightand
identifywaystosavemoney.Oregonianshavegreatideas;weneedagovernmentthatlistensto
them.
C.Weneedtermlimitsforpoliticiansandbills.Everybillthatispassedshouldhaveasunset.
Overthelast10years,ourlegislaturehaspassabout5,000bills.Someofthesebillsaregood
andothersarenolongerrelevant.Whengoodlawswouldcomeupforreview,theywouldeasily
berepassed,maybeevenwithanextendedsunset.Badoroutdatedlawswouldexpire.Weneed
termlimitsforelectedofficialstobreakupthepowerfulspecialintereststhathavetakeoverin
Salem.

ItisimportantwestopIP28.ThepoliticalclassinSalemkeepswastingmoneythenaskingthe
taxpayersformore.IP28isasalestaxandwouldbethelargesttaxincreasethestateshistory.

supportersspinit,IP28wouldleadtoOregontaxpayerspayingmoreforalltheirgoods.
