The attacks of September 11, 2001 were a series of terrorist attacks that day
committed suicide in the United States, members of the Al Qaeda jihadist network
by hijacking airliners to be hit several targets and killed a about 3,000 people and
6,000 others injured, and the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York
environment and serious damage to the Pentagon, the State of Virginia, being the
episode precede the war in Afghanistan and the adoption by the US government
and its political allies called war on terrorism.
The attacks were attributed to nineteen members of the jihadist network Al-Qaeda,
one divided into four groups of kidnappers, each with a pilot terrorist who is
responsible for piloting the airplane once already reduced the cabin crew. The
airplanes of American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines 175 were the first to be
abducted, both crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, the first into
the north tower and the second against South shortly after, causing both
skyscrapers collapsed in the two siguientes.2 hours 3
The third hijacked plane belonged to American Airlines Flight 77 and was used to
being hit against one of the walls of the Pentagon in Virginia. The fourth plane,
belonging to United Airlines Flight 93, did not reach any goal to be crashed in an
open field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after losing control in the cabin as a
result of the confrontation of the passengers and crew to the terrorist command.
The eventual goal would have the United States Capitol, located in Washington.
The attacks left more than 6000 injured, the death of 2973 people and the
disappearance of other equally 24.4 resulting 19 dead terrorists.
The attacks, which were condemned immediately as horrific attacks terroristas5 by
the Security Council of the United Nations, were characterized by the use of
commercial aircraft as weapons, causing a reaction of widespread fear throughout
the world and particularly in Western countries, which altered since international
aviation security policy.
