Pastors Remarks
Dear Church Family,
Vacation Bible School is just around the corner (June 13-17). I am thankful for
those workers and leaders who have already committed for that week. VBS is a
ton of work but it is fun! It still remains one of the biggest evangelistic events for
most churches. What a great opportunity we have to love children and point them
toward someone who loves them more- Jesus. Pray for our VBS, for workers and
the children who will attend and that the gospel message will take root in the
hearts of people, both children and adults.
According to LifeWay research, for 85% of churches that are experiencing
growth, small group Bible study was a primary Step 2 strategy for assimilating
and disciple people. (Step 1 being worship attendance).
Keep these things in mind:
1. Since we have dedicated space for groups, we can make space to continue to
have Bible study for all age groups, to start new groups and reach people.
2. Parents need help, especially today, in teaching Bible knowledge and spiritual
disciplines.
3. People need relationships. People can know others and be known. Thats
community. Thats why we emphasize grouping people together by similar
ages or interests.
4. The strategy of LIFE Groups (Sunday School) is Biblical. It is a way to
express obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). We are
teaching others, reaching, and influencing the next generation.
As you have heard recently on Sunday mornings, reaching and shaping the next
generation has been on my heart. Most churches are not doing a good job of
reaching them, and that includes FBC. We must do better. Lets pray for Gods
wisdom and strength to do what we need to do.
Our winter guests are gone home. We miss them when they are not here. Let me
encourage you to be faithful in your attendance and financial giving in these
summer months.
In His love,
Bro. Darrol

Hello Family,
Now that everyone is back to their normal schedules, please be in prayer for our students. With the
end of the year approaching quickly, our students are facing large amounts of stress and pressure from
grade deadlines, ACT and SAT testing, finals, and everything in between. I urge you to please pray for
these students during this demanding time in their school careers and home lives.
If you or anyone you know is planning on going to camp, please remember the mandatory student/
parent meeting on W ednesday, M ay 25th in the Smith Building at 8:00pm. We need everyone who is
going to camp to be at this meeting along with at least one parent. We will be going over transportation,
rooming & roommates, church groups, color teams, account balances, and any other information that
would be important for you to know. Please make sure you are here!
In addition to starting camp preparations, we are also going to be saying goodbye to the class of 2016.
On Sunday, May 29th, we will be honoring this years graduates in our services. If anyone you know
anyone graduating from high school, college, or trade school, please call the church office so that we can
recognize their accomplishments on Graduate Sunday. Baccalaureate will be held J une 1st, the
following Wednesday, here at First Baptist Church at 6:00 PM.
And finally, as youth camp slowly creeps up on us, we are still in need of financial support for many of
our students. The individual cost per student is $290.00 for the week. Accordingly, we have developed a
sponsorship program in which you can choose to sponsor a whole student, half a student, or a
quarter student camp cost. A half student would be $145.00 and a quarter student would be $72.50.
Please pray and consider donating and becoming a sponsor for a teenager this year. If you write a check,
please put Youth Camp in the memo line.
I am so appreciative for everything this church family does for our student ministry. It is an honor to
serve and minister in an environment where students matter! Please begin to pray for the hearts and
minds of those who will be attending camp. God has always done a great work at camp and I am
confident that He will continue. Accordingly, please be in prayer for the students when they step into the
real world after camp is over! Life can be hard especially when you desire to change your life!
Keep fishing,
Bro. Brian

Join us at Submerged for a week of exploring below the surface. Kids will begin their
exploration each day at The Helm. From The Helm, kids will gather at the Observation
Station where they will be submerged in Gods Word.
Each day kids will explore what lies below the surface in the deep sea by creating crafts,
playing fun games, enjoying tasty snacks, singing cool songs, and learning about missions.
Kids will discover that Jesus saw people for who they were deep down, not who they
appeared to be on the surface.
Were recruiting divers for the week of June 13-17, 2016, join us as we submerged in
Gods Word. For additional information, call the church office at (863) 635-3603.
Be sure to invite friends and family to join us for this deep sea adventure!

My Dear Friends,
I wish to thank all of you for your wonderful gift
of love and prayers. Without them I would not
be here today. My speedy recovery is due to
answered prayers. Thanks also for the phone
calls, visits at home, in hospital, and Royal
Care. Also for the flowers, food and many
cards I have received.
May God bless you all.
