PRIMAVERA Windows Services v1.0 SR4

Introduction
This document describes the PRIMAVERA Windows Services v1.0 SR4 (AWS)
solution and its installation process, namely its services (ex. PRIMAVERA
Deployment Center, PRIMAVERA Deployment Center Client, PRIMAVERA
Analytics, PRIMAVERA Fashion Retail and PRIMAVERA Electronic Data
Interchange).
This solution contains the Deployment Center service. This service aims to
support the automatic installations of maintenance builds, service releases and
new PRIMAVERA products. It also allows managing installations, updates and
uninstallations on server and stations from the central console, remotely and
automatically.
Thus, among other possibilities, it will be possible to:
- Reduce the time spent on the builds update process in Users. Therefore,
updates are obtained more quickly;
- Manage, in a very simple way, the necessary updates;
- Manage ignored updates;
- View the history of updates performed;
- Remote installation on the stations individually or in lot;
- Integrated and remote uninstallation of PRIMAVERA applications;
- Applications export / import, between different servers, when it is not
possible to use Deployment Center online.

In order to see the most up to date version of this manual, we suggest you check online in the
PRIMAVERA KnowledgeBase.

PRIMAVERA Windows Services v1.0 SR4

Installation
This chapter presents the minimum requirements and the Windows Services
product installation process and its services.

Requirements
For the correct installation of the Windows Services and its services, the
necessary requirements are:
1.

Windows XP SP2 or above (32bit or 64bit);

2.

Microsoft Management Console 3.0 (MMC 3.0);

3.

Internet connection with a minimum speed of 256Kbps.

For Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 SP1 Operating Systems, you must
install the Microsoft Management Console 3.0 (MMC 3.0), from a free download
link on Microsoft's website (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957502).

The latest Service Packs for Windows XP (SP3) and Windows 2003 (SP2),
already offer the MMC 3.0 by default, thus, if you have these versions, you
won't have to make any additional installation.

When installing the PRIMAVERA modules Windows Services (AWS), Deployment

Center (AUP) and PRIMAVERA Fiscal Reporting (PFR) it is not possible to use
network paths using the Universal Naming Convention (UNC). For example,
"\\server\".

Installation Methods
There are three distinct methods for installing the Windows Services and the
Deployment Center service:
- Installation through the Integrated Setup;
- Installation through the Deployment Center Installer;
- Manual installation.

Even though we describe three different installation methods, we suggest that

you use the Integrated Setup or the Deployment Center Installer methods.

Installation Process - Integrated Setup

Since this product is also sold with the PRIMAVERA ERP, PRIMAVERA Fiscal
Reporting (PFR) or PRIMAVERA Fashion Retail (RTL), it will be automatically
installed through the integrated setup. Thus, in order to install the AWS through
the integrated setup, we advise that your read the product installation manual
of the PFR, RTL or the PRIMAVERA ERP.

Installation Process - Deployment Center

Installer
Through this method, it's possible to install the Deployment Center on the
server and the Deployment Center Client on the stations, without using the DVD
of any PRIMAVERA product (described on the Integrated Setup installation
method). This feature is particularly useful, in case of new networks installation.
This feature, together with internet products first install feature, makes
installing PRIMAVERA products easier and more efficient, since there's no need
for DVDs and it allows for installing any product from the internet, always in the
same manner, using the Deployment Center and the Deployment Center Client.
To install the Deployment Center from the internet simply perform the following
steps:

1.

Download and run the Deployment Center Installer, available in

Partner'Space, in Technical Downloads | Independent Products |
Independent Solutions and wait for the wizard to start.

2.

On the login window, accept the licensing terms and click "Next";

3.

Select the installation type intended and click "Next";

4.
5.

A list containing the modules to install is shown. Click "Next";

Wait for the installation process to be completed;

PRIMAVERA Business Software Solutions, S.A.

6.

At the end of the installation, the Deployment Center should create a

network share in the PRIMAVERA folder, on the server, as usual in
PRIMAVERA installations;

7.

Next, each station should access that network share and the
"WindowsService100" folder and run the SetupPosto.exe in order to
install the Deployment Center Client;

8.

During this wizard, credentials to access the server should be indicated.

From this moment, and by configuring a license in the Deployment Center, it's
possible to have immediate access to all PRIMAVERA applications available for
installation from the internet and in a fully automatic manner. Thus, it's possible
to make a first installation and update of all modules of applications like ERP and

PRIMAVERA Business Software Solutions, S.A.

Fiscal Reports, among others. The installation of pre-requirements like Crystal

Reports, Java and VBA is fully ensured by the Deployment Center.
When installing the desired products from the internet, you ensure you only
download what you really need and, by doing so, you always get the latest
version available. The Deployment Center knows which products you have
bought, so, it will only suggest products you are interested in.

The Deployment Center Installer automates the .NET 4.0 framework installation,
which is used by the product. The remaining dependencies, like the MMC
console and eventual hotfixes (in windows XP) and the windows installer 3.1
(Windows XP and Windows 2003) should be previously installed. These
dependencies can be found here.

Installation Process - Manual

You must initially install the Windows Services and, subsequently, the services.

In case we are facing a Station / Server configuration, these installations should

be performed on the Server.

This section presents the manual installation of Windows Services and of the
Deployment Center service.

Pre-requirements
On this manual installation scenario, the installation wizards don't make any
pre-requirements validation, so, it's up to the user to ensure these are correctly
installed / present in the system before proceeding with the modules'
installation.
According to the operating system's version it may be necessary to manually
download and install some of these requirements. The article "How to install the
Deployment Center pre-requirements" contains detailed information on the
necessary pre-requirements based on the operating system's version.

station), then the Deployment Center Client service which allows for
automatically updating versions on the stations is also installed.

Sharing the "PRIMAVERA" folder

When configuring a Station / Server installation of the PRIMAVERA ERP, you
must define a network share on the "PRIMAVERA" folder.

PRIMAVERA Business Software Solutions, S.A.

12

PRIMAVERA Windows Services v1.0 SR4

From the Deployment Center service installation, this process undergoes a slight
change, since the Deployment Center works in an agnostic manner regarding
the PRIMAVERA ERP v8.00.
Thus, it will be necessary to share the "PRIMAVERA" folder. Thus, we are able to
put inside it a "WindowsService100" folder and make the updates immediately
visible at the stations. Something that wouldn't be possible with the share
placed inside the "SG800" folder.

Access the product

After the AWS and the corresponding services installation, a new menu entry is
created on Programs:

Since the AWS works on the MMC, we may access the AWS by means of various
alternatives, for example, directly through the MMC console. However, you must
start the console always in 32bit mode.

There's a compatibility problem in executing the MMC on 64bit and 32bit

operating systems.
Thus, on 64bit machines you must call the MMC using parameter "/32"
indicating that the AWS console must be executed as a 32bit process.

Configuration
This chapter presents the Windows Services and the Deployment Center and
Deployment Center Client services configuration process.

PRIMAVERA Windows Services

Pooling
The Pooling allows for determining which services will be executed, within a time
interval (in seconds).

Default setting
This option will allow for configuring the e-mails submission to notify the
existence of new updates, or the result of any other service.
If the configuration set here is equal to the services configuration, select the
"Propagate Configurations" option. This option replicates the Windows Services
settings for each service.

Enable / Disable Services

This option allows for enabling / disabling services. By default, after a service is
installed, it will become enabled.
