o
o Further to the inspection on site of the slab, no crack was seen. Maybe
crack plastic shrinkage appeared prior finishing but these cracks have
been closed by the finishing operation using helicopter. Troweling
/helicopter is a good “system” to close such cracks in the fresh concrete
period .
o The depth of plastic shrinkage & thermal crack

o Regarding the possibility of measurement the crack depth (if there is

crack), ultrasonic test can be used to measure depth of cracks, according
the above explanation the cracks stop at upper reinforced maximum.
o The problem of workability and behavior is due to the T° of concrete at
supply and environment temperature. Admixture has reacted too slowly. To
overcome this issue, T° of concrete supply for next slab will be between 25
and 30°C.
o
o Curing :-
o To check the efficiency of curing Cores test are not recommended since
they are destructive for the slab. The practice recommended by code for
the strength results is to refer to the cubes tests (cured as per agreed
procedure)and cube make and consolidated without curing and kept in side
mold on the slab until the time of curing.
o
o Adding small quantity of water during finishing is a bad habit of several
concrete finishers however this does not affect the concrete structural
integrity but may affect the finishing color. With this type of finish, the use
of brush as final finish should have overcome this color finishing problem.
