Alert: Unique Destructive Device Construction (Brass Fittings) St George, UT

Summary:
(U//LES) On April 19, 2016, ATF, Salt Lake City Field Office was contacted by the St. George.
Police Department (SGPD), St. George, UT concerning the discovery of similar destructive
devices recovered from two different incidents within St. George, Utah.
(U/LES) On January 2, 2016, the Southern Utah Bomb Squad responded to a report of a
suspected destructive device at the Ultra Car Wash, 766 South River Road, St. George, Utah.
The device, which was discovered by a car wash employee; was constructed from a short length
of brass-colored pipe with brass-colored end caps.

Alert: Unique Destructive Device Construction (Brass Fittings) St George, UT

(U/LES) On April 17, 2016, the SGPD responded to a call of a dumpster fire at 1610 North
Dixie Downs Road, St. George, Utah. After the fire was extinguished by the fire department,
remnants of a suspected destructive device were discovered and appeared to be visually
consistent with the device discovered at the carwash on January 2, 2016. SGPD retained several
pieces of device debris, from the dumpster, which were turned over to ATF on April 19, 2016,
for laboratory examination (BATS ID#416358).

(U/LES) Further investigation concerning the unique brass fittings, revealed that similar items
are sold at local True Value and Walmart under the following names: Gilmour, 05HC2GT, 2Pack Green Thumb Brass Hose Caps and Fiskers.
