Greetings on a splendid Sunday morning!
Jane and I returned from our “vacation” on Wednesday night in
time for me to attend our monthly Finance and Facilities Commit-
tee meeting, and I must tell you, we were glad to be home. Why?
Because vacation was just too much work. We spent the time at
the cabin and I discovered muscles that haven’t been used for a
while. I think we went through an entire bottle of Aleve. I built an
attic in the garage and we went through boxes that contained
YEARS of stuff. Keepsakes, photos, Christmas decorations, an-
tiques, etc. Then I moved the boxes to the attic and it was hot up
there. We mowed, painted, cleaned and, in general, got the place
ready for the summer. In the quiet times I became familiar with
two new books (at least new to me). One called The Year of Living
Biblically and the other, a gift from the Nelson’s at Christmas, The
Complete Works of Oswald Chambers. Yes, I’ve read his famous
work “My Utmost For His Highest” many times, but this book con-
tains lectures from classes, sermons and various other notes. It’s
wonderful and I found myself eager for the quiet time each day.
Let me take a moment here to thank all of you for your consistent
faithfulness to your church over this past fiscal year. Our books
will officially close at midnight, May 31st. Thank you for the won-
derful attitude with which you give and pray and love. May God
grant you His very best today.
Let’s worship Him this morning in “spirit and in truth.”
