Tourism of infrastructure can be define as the tourism policies and


international relationship that remove barrios or obstacle and give the
tourist freedom to visit a destination

It also includes development of facilities and emendates such as


water, electricity, road, transport, construction, taxation, policies,
communication network

Roles of transport in tourism

A fast and efficient of transport very essential to link various


tourist destination especially in vast contry like india

Time taken to cover long distance should be cut shot to the


minimum

Now a days tourist have very limited time in their hand a leisure
tourist may only a few weaks while business tourist will have only
couple of days

Tourist want to maximize the value of their money spend by


covering maximum no of plans in the limited of time in frame

The biggest obstacle of tourism development in india in the


inadequate

Travel facilities form the main point of arrival in the country to th


tourist place

The growth of air travel capacity will improve this condition the
tourist traffic in India is estimated to grow at 6% annually

To develop any place of tourist attraction there have to be proper


and safe mode of transportation.Transportation is vitule for tourism

Study have shown that tourist spend almost 30-40% of there total
holiday expondation on transportation and
remaining food,
accommodation and other activity this reflect how transportation is
important

A tourist can travel by variety of means with the help of


development of technology like by Air-domestic and international flight
career, helicopter etc.

Land Transport = Volvo coatch,St buses ,Rent car ,railway.

Water Transport =water transport is negligible in India ex.River

A tourist always think of safe confertable and convienent mode of


transport a long with cost and time if destination fails to meet so, He
will think of other destination

MODES OF TRANSPORT:
1. ROAD:
o road transport is one of the most promessing and powerfull
means of transport for short and medium distance
o It offers advantage like flexibility,reliability,speed,and door to door
service
o It also compement and increase the efficiency other modes of
transport
o It has vital role in the opening of interior and remote area
o It is cheaper and less capital intensive
o Indian roads are classified into following categories:

State highway
District road

Air India ,Jet Airways ,Spice Jet ,Indigo, Kingfisher etc.

oAt present 40% of the coming traffic by air consist of tourists because of
geographical reasons the vast majority of tourist (90%) coming to india
arrive and depart by air.
4. WATER TRANSPORT:
oWater transport is regarded as the oldest transporation mode.

oIt was used to carry goods and people from one place to another place
with very less cost.
oThere are three broad categories of water transport

scope for utilizing water transporation

INTERNATIONAL OR STAR CATEGORY HOTELS:oThey are modern western style hotels,mostly found in metrocities ,major
tourist center and large cities at prime location
oHotels are classified on the international star grading from 5 star to 1 star
grade depending on the service and facility provided by the hotel
oFive star luxury hotel offers highest standard of excellance in room and
service (Rooms of various types restaurants and bar,gym,swimming
pool,etc)
APARTMENTAL /RESIDENTIAL HOTELS:oThey are residential homes with hotel service
oThey are situated in large city mostly with European plane (only room no
meals )

oThe room may be furnished or unfurnished are sold on monthly or yearly


basis
COMMERSIAL HOTELS :-(non star )
o They are located mainly near the business or commercial center
oThey cater to individual tourist for business purpose ,the mainly budget
tourist and this repeat quest.
oThey have less inventory of room 20-30 or less
FLOATING HOTELS :
oThey are located on the surface of the water , which can be see water ,
river water or even lake water
oThe Facility and service of the hotel are similar to regular water
oAt many places the old ships have been converted into floating hotels
and are very popular anong tourist
oCruise liners conme under luxury floting hotels
Ex: queen Elizabeth. II a cruise ship is now brought to dubai as
a floting hotel

oThis hotel are located near the airports .

oThey cater specially to the transit passenger and airlines crew who are
waiting for a connecting flights and need a place to rest
oThey provide temporary accommodation to passengers affected by
delayed cancelled flights.

HARITAGE HOTELS :oMany of the old properties or mristocrastic families like castles, palaces
fort and havlis have been converted into hotels these are called
heritage hotel.
oThe properties are renovated to creat accommodation and other service
without disturbing the richness and royalty of the heritage

BOUTIQUE
oThes are designer hotels based on theme which provide luxurious
personalized services and facilities.
oThey are generally smaller is size than the branded hotels ang have 30100 rooms
Ex :- govdon house, boutique hotel.
MOTELS:

oMotels are generally located along busy highway and cater primarily to
transit and cost conscious travelers.
oThey provide with basic facilities in room and parhing.
Ex :- motel 8.
RESORT:oResort mainly cater to tourists for rest , relaxation and recreation.
oResort hotels are mostly located near the seaside, at hill station, in
wildlife sanctuaries or national parles.
oThe rooms are generally large then the other type of the hotels and ofter
provide kitchen facilities since most of guest or families stay for
several weeks
EX:- taj holiday village ,goa , MTDC Matheran, etc.
Supplementary / Alternative accommodation:o Supplementary accommodation indudes accommodation for tourists
but not necessarily like hotel services .
o Large numbers of tourists prefer this kind of accommodation since it
is economical.

1.TOURIST LODGES:
o Generally located at railway station, bus stand, etc.
o Rooms are moderately furnished.
o Since accommodation at reasonable price with hot and cold water,
dining room, parking and room service.
2.TOURIST BANGALOWS :-

oTourist bungalows are situated at tourist centres and are moderately


maintained.
oVery in experience cater normally to middle class, budget travelers,
and youth.
