It Can Wait Campaign Updates

March 23, 2016
Successful Free Concert on It Can Wait Tour
Blacksburg, V.a., March 23, 2016 Our free concert stop at Virginia Tech featuring
country star Tim McGraw was a success. The concert took place on the Drillfield and
drew in 13,000 students. The two hour live performance was filled with classic songs
and also a song written specifically for the It Can Wait campaign.
The tour stop also consisted of a driving simulation event to give students the
opportunity to learn about the dangers and consequences of texting and driving. Both
events generated 11,081 new pledges that have also downloaded the DriveMode app.
Driving Simulator Aids Texting While Driving Battle
The It Can Wait campaign has created a state-of-the-art texting while driving simulator
to help individuals learn about the dangers of texting while driving. The online simulator
is available at itcanwaitsimulator.org. AT&T is also continuing to tour the state-of-the-art
texting while driving simulator chair to high schools and events across the country.
It Can Wait Campaign Launched in Mexico
AT&T has expanded efforts into Mexico City, Mexico to encourage and educate drivers
of the dangers and consequences of texting while driving. New research shows more
than 92 percent of urban Mexicans said they read or send messages while driving.
The 16 municipalities Casa de Cultura will host It Can Wait neighborhood events that
will include virtual reality experiences. AT&T hopes this will raise more awareness and
help people change their behavior.
App Generates More Momentum for It Can Wait
AT&T offers a free mobile application called DriveMode that is designed to curb texting
while driving. During DriveMode, the app silences text message alerts when behind the
wheel. The app also provides customizable auto-reply messages to let friends and
family know he or she cannot respond.

There are 1,500 organizations and 50,000 individuals involved in the program. AT&T
and its employees urge the public to commit they will join the movement to end texting
while driving. The campaign has resulted in more than two million downloads of the app.
Pledge Continues to Grow
The It Can Wait campaign has encouraged drivers to make a commitment to never
text and drive by taking the pledge at ItCanWait.com. The program has strongly urged
people to share their pledge on social media to extend the movement.
It Can Wait has spread the word about this effort and has generated more than 7
million pledges since beginning in 2010. Nearly 80 percent of teen drivers have said that
if their friends tell them texting while driving is stupid, they are not as likely to do it.
