This past summer was a real blessing even though it was a work-,
filled one. Camp began June the 18th and we were not back in
Bari \mtil September was almost upon us.

in it, when at the time it seemed nothing but a huge disappoint
ment? At the beginning of the summer, the Chaplain at a military
base some distance below Bari, asked if we would hold a week
end retreat for his men.

In the group was a young girl from Paris who was visiting her
aunt at the base and had come along with her cousins. She was
French, CaLhullc, a^~~wene~iier panentrs and the first"evening around the camp-fire she gave us the feeling that she was satis
fying a thirst that perhaps she herself had not realized. During
the day and evening that followed she talked to us and others and
we discovered that she was not satisfied with the religion she
had been raised in and some time ago had talked to her parents
about it. But she had not been able to find, in Paris, any help,
Sunday morning at the worship service, as the invitation was
extended, one of the girls moved out of her place to go forward
to make her confession and without a second's hesitation Brigitte
followed her. She was buried with her Lord in baptism that
afternoon in the beautiful Adriatic Sea and she arose to begin a
life with Him in a city where there are no missionaries who teach
the simple New Testament Gospel and where the shadow of the
"world-power" in religion, lies heavy on the people.
