1. Purpose & Description


This Procedure establishes the method to be adopted for the development and
implementation of a behavioural safety programme. By analysing the interactions between
peoples behaviour and the working environment it is possible to identify those factors that
support safe or unsafe behaviour. By changing the environment to support safe behaviour
and implementing behavioural safety processes, accidents and incidents can be reduced.
This is required to ensure that all the necessary means are taken to ensure that a
programme of behavioural safety is developed effectively and that all those involved are
aware of the process, predominantly detailing the steps to ensure that the process is in
accordance with legislation and International Best Practice. This document aims to:
I.

Identify clearly the procedures to be followed and clearly identify the


stakeholders involved at the different stages.

II.

Give detailed explanation of how to complete the activities within the procedure

III.

Identify all relevant supporting information and documents to be used when


using the procedures.

undertaking any task
