Dear EPM Leadership Summit Attendee,

Welcome to the 2015 EPM Leadership Summit! The Column5 team is very excited to be bringing back
our event series to fill a need where SAP EPM customers can get vital information, build relationships, and
become inspired to take their EPM process to the next level.
We appreciate that you have made the investment in time and resources to support your pursuit of value
with Enterprise Performance Management. Together, my hope is we can push each other to achieve new
heights of success, and the first step is coming together to share ideas at a focused event.
The Column5 team has done a significant amount of logistics planning, content preparation, and resource
investment to make this event a huge success; however, the most important requirement for our mutual
ability to drive value from this event is your participation. This event is very much focused on customers,
and it is my objective to ensure the EPM Leadership Summit exceeds your expectations in every way.
Please feel free to share your ideas, challenge speakers, and ask questions in the sessions so before we
conclude, every question is answered. It is our intent to provide an environment conducive to learning. If,
at any time, any aspect of the event does not meet your expectations/preferences, immediately notify any
member of the Column5 team so we can address it.
I look forward to hearing your feedback about the event as we spend the next few days together. Please
share your thoughts with me so we can understand what we are doing well and can do more of, and
where we can improve!
On behalf of the entire Column5 team, enjoy the conference we are glad you are here!
Best Regards,

David

AGENDA
SESSION DESCRIPTIONS
PRE-SUMMIT: Mastering EPM Workshops
Title: Performance Tuning - BPC NW
Description: Starting with strategies to troubleshoot report/input schedule
performance in a NetWeaver environment, this session will demonstrate a
methodical approach to demystifying how performance can be improved.
Server and client logging options will be utilized to discover what is
causing underlying performance problems, so factual explanations for
performance challenges can be identified. Attendees will leave this course
with understanding of the different areas of the client server application that
can affect performance of reports including: query creation, send/retrieve
performance and formatting and what server/client changes can be made to
positively affect performance.
Presenter(s): Charles Dagaev
Date/Time: Tuesday, February 24, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Room: Van Gogh 2
Title: EPM v10 Reporting
Description: Topics include: considerations for input forms, including context options, selection and hidden
areas, and password protection. We will also be working with basic, intermediate and advanced EPM functions
in the EPM Add-In.
Presenter(s): Jennifer Harlan
Date/Time: Tuesday, February 24, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Room: Van Gogh 1
Title: BPC Logic
Description: Performance for BPC solutions often hinges on an ability to run vital business rules efficiently.
Similarly, cost of ownership can skyrocket when internal teams cannot manage these critical calculations
without calling in an external consulting team. Given the role logic plays as a linchpin in the success of EPM
projects, you might think training on this all important topic would be easy to come by. Not so. This is the only
place you can find training focused on logic by the team that knows it best.

Title: Integrated Reporting as a Foundation for Effective EPM
Description: We will explore how organisations are integrating the reporting of actual results across the time
and functional dimensions of the business to create a solid foundation for effective performance management.
Moving beyond traditional financial data and into key driver reporting and embracing customer and product
key performance indicators, as well as profitability measures, integrated reporting takes organisations into new
and more agile levels of reporting, analysis, and predictive capability. How do organisations move to this level
of excellence in performance reporting and how do they exploit latest generation ERP and EPM solutions to
provide a robust platform to support such fast and effective integrated reporting?
Presenter(s): David Jones
Date/Time: Wednesday, February 25, 10:00am - 10:50am
Room: Van Gogh 1
Title: 20 Years of the Virtual Close...Why Does Speed of Reporting Matter and Who Cares?
Description: For the last 10 years we have been conducting unique research on the speed of external
reporting and audit sign off for the worlds largest companies. We look at the key trends in this research and
the impact of events such as the introduction of Sarbanes-Oxley and the global financial crisis. Nearly 20 years
since the champions of virtual close, such as IBM, Cisco, and Alcoa set out their stall for a world of highly
automated and real time actual results reporting, we look at whether the principle of virtual close has taken
hold, and if not, why organisations are holding back. As we identify those who have consistently reached the
upper quartile of the speed of close metric, we also look at the common characteristics of those organisations
from a systems, process and organisational standpoint. What are the 10 most common characteristics of those
organisations and how can we use these as learning points for process improvement in our own organisations.
What are the common benefits that such organisations declare in focusing on a fast close? Do those benefits
really justify the investment necessary?
Presenter(s): David Jones
Date/Time: Wednesday, February 25, 1:00pm - 1:50pm
Room: Van Gogh 1
Title: Big Data / Predictive Analytics
Description: Big Data is one of those buzzwords you can see on billboards, in the airport, on TV, and all
over the internet. You see it everywhere, but what is it? What relevance does it have for EPM? Discuss several
use cases for Big Data appliances in the EPM world. Another buzzed about solution is Predictive Analytics.
Learn whether predictive solutions can increase value in your enterprise.
