parking at first pres

Part of making our church a welcoming place for guests
is to make our campus as accessible as possible.
The good news is, the church shares ownership in a parking
garage across the street, and helps to maintain it so you can
easily find free parking every Sunday and during the week.
We leave street and on-campus parking for visitors, seniors
and those who need extra accessibility to the buildings.
If you are a church member and would like to purchase
a parking card for the church garage for $10, please stop
by the lobby desk at Edington Ministry Center during
the week.

NOTES

traditional worship
PENTECOST SUNDAY
Today we celebrate the coming and the gift of the Holy
Spirit to the followers of Christ. Sometimes Pentecost
is also called the birthday of the Church. One of the
unique aspects of this day is that the Holy Spirit came
upon all the believers. The Holy Spirit was evident
in the Old Testament, but not as universal as in the
outpouring at Pentecost. Interestingly, this particular
Jewish festival celebrated the inclusion of other
nations embracing the Jewish faith. The book of Ruth
(the Moabitess) was read as part of the liturgy. She
was a foreigner who left her country and embraced
Gods People and as a result wound up in the lineage
of King David and, ultimately, that of Jesus Christ.
It is not surprising then that at Pentecost, God
opens wide the door and pours out His Holy Spirit
on all peoples, nations, and tongues. In fulfilling His
promise to Abraham, through his seed, Gods Chosen
People, He brings blessing to all the peoples of the
whole earth through the power and filling of the Holy
Spirit.
