THE
ADVENTURES
OF CAGLIOSTRO
One believed to have been
given the name of Joseph
Balsamo but who later
adopted the name "Count
Cagliostro", has the
doubtful distinction of
being the world's
outstanding Masonic
charlatan.
He became a Mason in
London in 1776, and later
conceived the idea of his
"Egyptian Rite", which he
formulated and promoted
with his wife.
The project was a money
making scheme; they
founded lodges through
out Europe. His colorful
career came to an end
when he established on of
his lodges in Rome.

The Masters Message

Brethren,
We have just completed the first half of our Masonic year, it
has been an exciting and busy time! In the first six months
we have raised six new brothers as master masons and
initiated another. We have held a brothers night out, family
movie day, Christmas party, reinstated the annual masonic
memorial service, officer visits to several district lodges and
some smaller events. We had several brothers return to
lodge after long absences and we are so glad to welcome
them back. We have refurbished and updated the lodge
building, created a lodge store, introduced PayPal as a
convenient way to pay dues online. We were honored to be
a spotlighted lodge in the Northeast Masonic Newsletter and
hosted the Northern Area Town Hall Meeting conducted by
Anthony R. Cracco the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the
state of Illinois.
The lodge officers just conducted our mid-year meeting to
look at where we have been and what we can do going
forward to improve our lodge. We have several events we
would like to do such as a garage sale, a bbq, and pancake
breakfast, supporting RAM for the special 4th of July party
and many other ideas. We discussed the status of some
incomplete projects and a few more improvements to the
lodge such as adding a white board and projector in the

dining room for education, constructing the basement

lounge, replacing the secretaries desk, carpet for the front
area and library, signage on Genesee Street. Most
importantly we discussed how to retain current brothers and
how to get more interaction and fellowship as brothers. We
are looking for new ways to attract good men looking to
become better men.

He was arrested on
December 27, 1789, and
charged with the "crime"
of being a Freemason. He
was imprisoned by the
papal police, was
questioned, tortured,
tried and found guilty. He
died some years later
while still in prison.

As the Memorial Day holiday approaches, I hope we all

remember to go to a local parade or function of
remembrance for those who gave their all for us, so that
we may enjoy the freedoms we have. We must teach the
next generation about the sacrifices of the men and woman
who came before us, which allow us to live and breathe the
fresh air of freedom. We should never take these freedoms
for granted, but cherish them and always be prepared to
defend them.
Fraternally,
