Introduction

Praise be to Allah, our Lord Lord of the Universes

Lord of all things
Lord of truth
Lord of mercy
Lord of trial

In the Quran, the venue of ad-Dajjal is not discussed as

in hadiths. It is a belief of Muslims of all times that adDajjal will be coming at the end of times. It was said to
be among the greater signs of resurrection. All these
Muslims have been reading the hadiths narrated on him
and thus they believe in him.
Ad-Dajjal, according to hadiths, was born in Medina,
was one-eyed, no two eyes with the right or/and the left
blind. He was a short man of Jewish extraction with
curly and coarse hair. He travelled at the speed of
clouds blown by the wind. He brought with him
mountain of bread and river of water, or Paradise and
Hell, or may things that a Prophet cant bring.

It is said that he had no access to Mecca and Medina.

He performed miracles such as making the sky to rain,
the crops to grow, killed people and brought them back
to life, things which Prophet Mohammad, who was the
beloved of Allah, could not do. He lived on an island
but he was back in the vicinity of Medina. He
commanded armies and, ultimately, he was slain by
Isa, son of Mariam.

This myth of ad-Dajjal, however, is probably the reason

that so many hadiths about him survived to the present
day. The Muslims are therefore warned against this
belief. The hadiths quoted in this book prove that adDajjal has been a myth for so long. Nevertheless, it is
still in the mind of the Muslims and they are awaiting
his coming at the end of time Allah knows when the
end of time will happen.

The birth of ad-Dajjal

1 - The Messenger of Allah said: The father of adDajjal and his mother will abide for thirty years
without bearing a son. Then a boy shall be born to
them, having one eye in which there is some defect,
providing little use. His eyes sleep but his heart
does not sleep.

.
Then the Messenger of Allah described his parents for
us: His father is tall, with little fat, with a nose as if
it were a beak. His mother is a bulky woman with
long breasts. So Abu Bakrah said: I heard about a
child being born to some Jews in Medina. So azZubair bin al-Awwam and I went until we entered
upon his parents. They appeared as the Messenger of
6

Allah had described them. We said: Do you have any

children? They said: We remained for thirty years
without any children being born to us then we bore a
boy, having one eye in which there is some defect,
providing little use. His eyes sleep but his heart does
not sleep.

.

.

He said: So we were leaving them, when he appeared,
glittering in the sunlight in a velvet garment,
murmuring something. He uncovered his head and
said: What were you saying? We said: Did you hear
what we were saying? He said: Yes, that my eyes sleep
but my heart does not sleep. 1
1. Ad-Dajjal was born in Medina while the
Prophet said that Mecca and Medina were
protected by angels so that he would not have
access to it (See Ad-Dajjal will not enter
Mecca and Medina). When did the boy become
ad-Dajjal? Was he not born as ad-Dajjal since
the beginning?

2. The characteristic of one-eyed will be

mentioned in Ad-Dajjal will be one-eyed.
1

. Jami at-Tirmithi: Volume 4, Book 7, hadith 2248.

3. It is said in this hadith that his eyes sleep but

his heart does not sleep. We remind you that
in the case of the Prophet, it was said the same
thing, that is his eyes sleep but his heart does
not sleep. And this quality is attributed to
every Prophet. Please see hadiths below:

.

.

2 - Narrated Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman: He

asked Aisha: How was the prayer of Allahs
Messenger in Ramadan? She replied: He did not pray
more than eleven rakaats in Ramadan or in any other
month. He used to pray four rakaats - let alone their
beauty and length - and then he would pray four - let
alone their beauty and length - and then he would pray
three rakaat. She added: I asked: O Allahs
Messenger! Do you sleep before praying the witr? He
replied: O Aisha! My eyes sleep but my heart does
not sleep. 2

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 32, hadith 230; Volume

4, Book 56, hadith 769; Sahih Muslim: Book 4, hadith 1607.

3 - Ibn Abbas reported that he spent a night in the

house of his maternal aunt, Maymunah. The
Messenger of Allah got up at night and performed a
short ablution (taking water) from the water-skin
hanging there.

(Giving a description of the ablution Ibn Abbas said:

It was short and performed with a little water.) I also
got up and did the same as the Messenger of Allah had
done. I then came (to him) and stood on his left. He
then made me go around to his right side. He then
observed prayer and went to sleep till he began to
snore. Bilal came to him and informed him about the
prayer. He (the Prophet) then went out and observed
the dawn prayer without performing ablution. Sufyan
said: It was a special (prerogative of the) Apostle of
Allah for it has been conveyed to us that the eyes of
9

the Messenger of Allah sleep, but his heart does not

sleep. 3

4 - Narrated Kuraib: Ibn Abbas said: The Prophet

slept till he snored and then prayed. Ibn Abbas added:
I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt,
Maymunah. The Prophet slept for a part of the night
and late in the night, he got up and performed ablution
from a hanging water skin, a light (perfect) ablution
and stood up for the prayer. I, too, performed a similar
ablution then I went and stood on his left. He drew me
to his right and prayed as much as Allah wished, and
again lay and slept till his breath sounds were heard.
. Sahih Muslim: Book 4, hadith 1676.

10

Later on the muadhdhin (call maker for the prayer)

came to him and informed him that it was time for
prayer. The Prophet went with him for the prayer
without performing a new ablution. (Sufyan said to
Amr that some people said: The eyes of Allahs
Messenger sleep but his heart does not sleep.

Amr replied: I heard Ubaid bin Umar saying that the

dreams of Prophets were Divine Inspiration, and then
he recited the verse: I (Ibrahim) see in a dream, (o my
son) that I offer you in sacrifice (to Allah). (37.102) 4
Did the Prophet of Islam share a quality which
ad-Dajjal had? Or did ad-Dajjal share it with
him? Dont you reflect!

4. The statement: His mother is a bulky woman

with long breasts. Had the Prophet seen her
breasts to describe them as long? Is it not a
pornographic statement? Did the Prophet really
say that? Or the hadith is not a hadith, hence
the statement of the Prophet!
5. According to this hadith, ad-Dajjal was a Jew
living in Medina.

Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 4, hadith 140.

11

Ad-Dajjal emerged from al-Khalla, between

)Iraq and Sham (Syria

We have previously seen that ad-Dajjal was born in

Medina. But in the following hadith, we see that he
emerged from al-Khalla, between Syria and Iraq, then
in Khurasan and then in Iraq:

From al-Khalla:

5 - An-Nawwas b. Saman reported: He would

appear on the way between Syria and Iraq. 5

From Khurasan, a land in the east:

.

. Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7015; Jami at-Tirmithi:
Volume 4, Book 7, hadith 2240; Sunan Ibn Majah: Volume
5, Book 36, hadith 4077.

12

6 - Abu Bakr as-Siddiq said: The Messenger of Allah

narrated to us, saying: The Dajjal shall emerge from
a land in the east called Khurasan. He is followed
by a people whom appear as if their faces are
shields coated with leather. 6
1. First, we see that ad-Dajjal was born in
Medina. Second, we see that he emerged from
al-Khalla. Third, we see that he emerged from
Khurasan. We ask the following questions:

2. Did ad-Dajjal emerge from al-Khalla and

Khurasan at the same time? If we consider alKhallah and Khurasan as one and same place?
But if they are different places? Then how
could he emerge from them? We saw early that
he was born in Medina. How then did he
emerge from the two places which are far from
Medina? Did he travel to those places and then
emerged there?
3. Dont you believe that there are contradictions
in those hadiths and they cannot be used as
authority in Islam?

. Jami at-Tirmithi: Volume 4, Book 7, hadith 2237; Sunan Ibn

Majah: Volume 5, Book 36, hadith 4072.

13

Ad-Dajjal was in the Syrian or Yemenite

sea:
After having said that ad-Dajjal would be at al-Khalla
or Khurasan, now it is question of the Syrian or
Yemenite sea:

.
.

7 - Allahs Messenger, striking the pulpit with the help

of the end of his staff said: This implies Taiba
meaning Medina. Have I not told you an account
(of ad-Dajjal) like this? The people said: Yes, and
this account narrated by Tamim Dari was liked by me
for it corroborates the account which I gave to you in
regard to him (ad-Dajjal) at Medina and Mecca.
Behold he (ad-Dajjal) is in the Syrian sea
(Mediterranean) or the Yemen sea (Arabian Sea). Nay,
on the contrary, he is in the east, he is in the east, he is
in the east, and he pointed with his hand towards the
east. I (Fatima bint Qays) said: I preserved it in my
mind (this narration from Allahs Messenger.

14

1. The fact that or is mentioned in this hadith

proves that the narrator did not know exactly
where he was or will be: Syrian or Yemenite
sea.
2. Then he said he is from the east. What a joke
is this?

The conquest of Constantinople would be

with the coming of ad-Dajjal

The conquest of Constantinople also referred to as

the fall took place in May 1453. Today, we are in the
year 2015. That is to say, 562 years have passed since
then. But in the hadiths quoted below, we see that adDajjal was coming with the conquest of
Constantinople. Meaning to say that ad-Dajjal had
already come and gone. But Muslims have been fooled
by the coming of ad-Dajjal, Isa and the Mahdi. Are
they going to come again?

15

8 - Narrated Muadh ibn Jabal: The Prophet said: The

flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib
is in ruins, the ruined state of Yathrib will be when
the Great War comes, the outbreak of the Great
War will be at the conquest of Constantinople and
the conquest of Constantinople when ad-Dajjal
(Antichrist) comes forth. He (the Prophet) struck his
thigh or his shoulder with his hand and said: This is as
true as you are here or as you are sitting (meaning
Muadh ibn Jabal). 7
Now let us see the hadith that says that ad-Dajjal will
come when the Muslims fight the Romans:

9 - It was narrated from Jabir bin Samurah, that Nafi

bin Utbah bin Abu Waqqas narrated that the Prophet
said: You will fight the Arabian Peninsula and
victory will be granted by Allah. Then you will
fight the Romans and victory will be granted (by
Allah). Then you will fight Dajjal and victory will
be granted (by Allah). Jabir said: Ad-Dajjal will not
appear until you have fought the Romans. 8
7
8

. Sunan Abu Dawud: Book 38, hadith 4281.

. Sunan Ibn Majah: Volume 5, Book 36, hadith 4091.

16

1. In the Quran, Allah says:

The Byzantines (Rome) have been defeated, in the

nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will
overcome. Within three to nine years. To Allah
belongs the command before and after. And that day
the believers will rejoice in the victory of Allah. He
gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted
in Might, the Merciful. 9

2. In the above verses, we note that the Roman

(Byzantines) had already been conquered. But
whether it were the believers who conquered it
is difficult to say. According to recorded
history, the Romans were conquered around
1444. Today 571 years have passed. Then adDajjal had already passed and gone and he was
defeated by the Muslims at that era. So, why
Muslims are so foolish to wait indefinitely for
him? It is also noted that all the verbs used in
these verses are in past tense.

3. Now lets see the hadiths: First we see that the

conquest of Constantinople announced the
coming of ad-Dajjal. This period had already
9

. Sourah 30, ar-Rum, verses 2-5.

17

passed. Muslims are being fooled with the

coming of ad-Dajjal.

4. Secondly, we see that when the Muslims

fought the Roman and gained victory, this was
a new announcement of the coming of adDajjal.

5. So, which among the two eras was ad-Dajjal

coming, if he was really coming and it is not a
myth?

There were thirty ad-Dajjals:

10 - Narrated Abu Huraira: Allahs Messenger said:

The Hour will not be established till about thirty
Dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of them will
claim that he is Allahs Messenger. 10

10

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 88, hadith 237.

18

11 - Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said: The

Last Hour will not come before there come forth
thirty Dajjals (fraudulents), everyone presuming
himself that he is an apostle of Allah. 11

1. According to the translations of the hadiths,

dajjals means liars or fraudulents. This is
a fact that we do not deny for the true adDajjal, according to Muslims and their
scholars, is one. We have seen that he had
already taken birth in Medina and will see
other details in coming hadiths.

Who was ad-Dajjal?

Ibn Sayyad was ad-Dajjal:

Now we will see the differences in the person of adDajjal. Some hadiths say that he is Ibn Sayyad. Others
say that he is Ibn Swaid but the latter did not accept
that he is such. Furthermore, the Prophet was not sure
that Ibn Sayyad is ad-Dajjal. Let us see the hadiths:

11

. Sunan Abu Dawud: Book 38, hadith 4319 & 4320; Jami atTirmithi: Volume 4, Book 7, hadith 2218; Ibn Majah:
Volume 5, Book 36, hadith 3952,

19

12 - Narrated Muhammad bin al-Munkadir: I saw Jabir

bin Abdullah swearing by Allah that Ibn Sayyad was
ad-Dajjal. I said to Jabir: How can you swear by
Allah? Jabir said: I have heard Umar swearing by
Allah regarding this matter in the presence of the
Prophet and the Prophet did not disapprove of it. 12
1. From this hadith, we see that Ibn Sayyad was
ad-Dajjal as Umar swore by Allah, that he was
he.

2. The Prophet listened to the swearing and he did

not object, which confirm that Ibn Sayyad was
ad-Dajjal.

But the Prophet was not sure as to his identity:

.
.
.

.

.

13 - Narrated Ibn Umar: The Prophet said to Ibn

Sayyad: I have kept for you a secret. Ibn Sayyad
said: Ad-Dukh. The Prophet said: Keep quiet, for you
cannot go beyond your limits. On that, Umar said
(to the Prophet): Allow me to chop off his neck! The
Prophet said: Leave him, for if he is he (i.e. adDajjal), then you will not be able to overcome him,
12

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 92, hadith 453.

20

and if he is not, then you gain no good by killing

him. 13
1. By the fact that the Prophet said: and if he
is not meaning if Ibn Sayyad is not adDajjal. This is clear indication that he was not
sure. But Umar, above, swore by Allah that
Ibn Sayyad was ad-Dajjal with the approval
(keeping silent and having no objection) from
the Prophet.

2. So we may ask who ad-Dajjal was! Was he a

young boy that was born in Medina or was he
Ibn Sayyad? Are there no contradictions in
these hadiths that need our attention? Do we
agree with these hadiths? Was ad-Dajjal a
reality or a myth?

Ibn Swaid (not Ibn Sayyad) was ad-Dajjal:

14 - Muhammad b. Munkadir reported: As I saw Jabir

b. Abdullah taking an oath in the name of Allah that it
was Ibn Swaid who was the Dajjal. I said: Do you
take an oath in the name of Allah? Thereupon he said:
I heard Umar taking an oath in the presence of
13

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 77, hadith 615.

21

Allahs Apostle to this effect but Allahs Apostle did

not disapprove of it. 14
1. This hadith has been mentioned before but with
the following changes: Ibn Sayyad is replaced
by Ibn Swaid.

2. Is Ibn Sayyad and Ibn Swaid one and the same

person? Was ad-Dajjal known as Ibn Sayyad
and then Ibn Swaid? Did the person had two
names? Dont you feel that there are
contradictions between the hadiths? Was it a
mistake of the narrator? What should you do
with such hadiths? Do you consider them as
sahih?

Then Ibn Swaid affirmed that he was not

ad-Dajjal:

.

14

. Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 6999; Abu Dawud: Book 38,
hadith 4317.

22

.
.

15 - Abu Said reported: I accompanied Ibn Swaid to

Mecca and he said to me: What I have gathered from
people is that they think that I am ad-Dajjal. Have you
not heard Allahs Messenger as saying: He will have
no children I said: Yes, of course. Thereupon he said:
But I have children. Have you not heard Allahs
Messenger as saying: He would not enter Mecca and
Medina? I said: Yes, of course. Thereupon he said: I
was born in Medina and now I intend to go to Mecca.
And he said to me at the end of his talk: By Allah, I
know his place of birth, his abode where he is just
now. He (Abu Said) said: This caused confusion in
my mind (in regard to his identity). 15

.

15

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 6994.

23

16 - Abu Said Khudri reported: Ibn Swaid said to me

something for which I felt ashamed. He said: I can
excuse others; but what has gone wrong with you, O
Companions of Muhammad, that you take me as adDajjal? Has Allahs Apostle not said that he would be
a Jew whereas I am a Muslim and he also said that he
would not have children, whereas I have children, and
he also said: Verily, Allah has prohibited him to
enter Mecca whereas I have performed Pilgrimage,
and he went on saying this that I was about to be
impressed by his talk. He (however) said this also: I
know where he (ad-Dajjal) is and I know his father
and mother, and it was said to him: Wont you feel
pleased if you would be the same person? Thereupon
he said: If this offer is made to me, I would not resent
that. 16

-

-

16

. Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 6995.

24

17 - Abu Said al-Khudri reported: We came back

after having performed Pilgrimage or Umra and lbn
Swaid was along with us. And we encamped at a place
and the people dispersed and I and he were left behind.
I felt terribly frightened from him as it was said about
him that he was ad-Dajjal. He brought his goods and
placed them by my luggage and I said: It is intense
heat. Would you not place that under that tree? And he
did that. Then there appeared before us a flock of
sheep. He went and brought a cup of milk and said:
Abu Said, drink that. I said: It is intense heat and the
milk is also hot (whereas the fact was) that I did not
like to drink from his hands or to take it from his hand
and he said: Abu Said, I think that I should take a
rope and suspend it by the tree and then commit
suicide because of the talks of the people, and he
further said Abu Said! He who is ignorant of the
saying of Allahs Messenger 9he is to be pardoned),
but O people of Ansar, is this hadith of Allahs
Messenger concealed from you whereas you have the
best knowledge of the hadith of Allahs Messenger
amongst people?

25

.

.

Did Allahs Messenger not say that he (ad-Dajjal)

would be a non believer whereas I am a believer? Did
Allahs Messenger not say he would be barren and no
child would be born to him, whereas I have left my
children in Medina? Did Allahs Messenger not say:
He would not get into Medina and Mecca whereas I
have been coming from Medina and now I intend to go
to Mecca? Abu Said said: I was about to accept the
excuse put forward by him. Then he said: I know the
place where he would be born and where he is now. So
I said to him: May your whole day be spent! 17
1. Despite that the hadiths are narrated by the
same narrator, that is Abu Said al-Khudri, yet
we note the differences in the wordings.
2. In hadith no.15, Ibn Swaid said that I was
born in Medina whereas hadith no. 17 he said:
I have been coming from Medina. No
mention of Medina is made in the second
hadith.

17

. Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 6996.

26

3. In hadith no. 15, he said: I intend to go to

Mecca whereas in hadith no. 16 he said: I
have performed Pilgrimage.
4. The statement that proves that Ibn Swaid was
not ad-Dajjal are seen in the hadiths and then
he said: If this offer is made to me, I would
not resent that. Did the Prophet or his
companions have to choose who will be adDajjal? Is it a selective choice?
5. In hadiths no. 15 and no. 17, he said: I know
his place of birth, his abode where he is just
now which means that ad-Dajjal already
existed during the lifetime of the companions.
But why are Muslims fooled in believing that
ad-Dajjal is coming at the end of time? Why
are they fooled in believing that Mahdi and Isa
are coming again? Has ad-Dajjal been granted
life until the end of time? Where is it
mentioned? Can anyone prove it?
6. The many differences in the hadiths are enough
to invite us to reflection on their authenticities
Do we accept them when there are
contradictions between each other?

27

Ad-Dajjal was chained:

.
.

.

.

18 - Fatimah bint Qays narrated that Allahs Prophet

ascended the pulpit, he laughed, and said: Verily,
Tamim ad-Dari narrated a story to me, and it made
me happy, so I wanted to narrate it to you. Some
people among the inhabitants of Palestine traveled
by boat in the sea, taking them here and there, until
it cast them on an island among the islands at sea.
There they found a beast, clothed with its hair
flowing out. They said: What are you? It said: I am
al-Jassasa. They said: Give us some news. It said: I
shall not give you any news, nor do I want any of
your news. But go to the furthest village, for there
is someone who will give you news and seek your
news. So we went to the furthest village, and there
was a man fettered with chains. He said: Inform me
28

about the spring of Zughar. We said: It is full and

flowing. He said: Inform me about Al-Buhairah.
We said: It is full and flowing. He said: Inform me
about the date groves of Baysan which is between
Jordan and Palestine, do they produce food? We
said: Yes. He said: Inform me about the Prophet,
has he been sent? We said: Yes. He said: Inform
me how the people came to him. We said: Quickly.
He leaped up to try and escape. We said: What are
you? He said: I am ad-Dajjal. (The Prophet said): He
will enter all of the lands except At-Taibah, and AtTaibah is al-Madinah. 18
1. It is question here of ad-Dajjal being on an Island.
Therefore he already existed during the lifetime of
the Prophet. But how can Muslims of today be
waiting for him to come? Are they so foolish? The
hadiths of him being on an Island will be
mentioned in section: Ad-Dajjal is hidden on an
island.

2. When we say that ad-Dajjal was chained or fettered

with chains, do we have to ask the question of how
he ate and how he answered the call of nature.

3. In the last part of the hadith, the Prophet said that

he would enter all lands except Medina. But what
about Mecca? All lands include Mecca also? We
will see the hadiths concerning the fact that adDajjal was prevented access to Mecca and Medina
in section: Ad-Dajjal will not enter Mecca and
Medina.

18

. Jami at-Tirmithi: Volume 4, Book 7, hadith 2253.

29

4. We will also see that the Palestinians (people of

Palestine) travelled to that island where ad-Dajjal
was.

All Prophets warned their people of adDajjal:

19 - Ibn Umar said: Then the Prophet got up amongst

the people, glorifying Allah as He deserves, he
mentioned ad-Dajjal, saying: I warn you about him
and there is no prophet who did not warn his
nation about him, and Nuh warned his nation
about him, but I tell you a statement which no
prophet informed his nation of. You should
understand that he is a one-eyed man and Allah is
not one-eyed. 19

19

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, hadith 290, Volume 8,

Book 73, hadith 194.

30

20 - Narrated Ibn Umar: Once Allahs Messenger

stood amongst the people, glorified and praised Allah
as He deserved and then mentioned ad-Dajjal saying: l
warn you against him and there was no prophet
but warned his nation against him. No doubt, Nuh
warned his nation against him but I tell you about
him something of which no prophet told his nation
before me. You should know that he is one-eyed,
and Allah is not one-eyed. 20

.

.

21 - Narrated Abu Huraira: Allahs Messenger said:

Shall I not tell you about ad-Dajjal a story of which
no prophet told his nation? Ad-Dajjal is one-eyed
and will bring with him what will resemble Hell
and Paradise, and what he will call Paradise will be

actually Hell; so I warn you as Nuh warned his

nation against him. 21

22 - Narrated Ibn Umar: We were talking about the

farewell pilgrimage while the Prophet was amongst us.
We did not know what the farewell pilgrimage
signified. The Prophet praised Allah and then
mentioned al-Masih ad-Dajjal and described him
extensively, saying: Allah did not send any prophet
but that prophet warned his nation of al-Masih adDajjal. Nuh and the prophets following him warned
(their people) of him. He will appear amongst you,
and if it happens that some of his qualities may be
hidden from you, but your Lords State is clear to
you and not hidden from you. The Prophet said it
thrice. Verily, your Lord is not blind in one eye,
while he (i.e. Ad-Dajjal) is blind in the right eye

32

which looks like a grape bulging out (of its

cluster).22

23 - Abdullah b. Umar told that Allahs Messenger

stood up amongst the people and lauded Allah as He
deserved, then he made a mention of ad-Dajjal and
said: I warn you of him and there is no Prophet
who has not warned his people against ad-Dajjal.
Even Nuh warned but I am going to tell you a thing
which no Prophet told his people. You must know
that he is one-eyed and Allah, the Exalted and
Glorious, is not one-eyed.

Ibn Shihab said: Umar b. Thabit al-Ansari informed

me that some of the companions of Allahs Messenger
informed him that the day when Allahs Messenger
warned people against ad-Dajjal, he also said: There
would be written between his two eyes (the word)
Kafir (infidel) and everyone who would resent his

33

deeds would be able to read or every Muslim would

be about to read. 23
Now, let us summarize the above-mentioned hadiths:

1. In all the hadiths above, Nuh is mentioned as

the Prophet who warned his people. The birth
of Nuh and his advent as Prophet is not known,
either in the Bible or the Quran. We wonder
how the Prophet could have known about the
warning of his people! Did he receive
revelations to that effect? Where are these
revelations or narrations?
2. After Nuh, we have Prophets like Ibrahim,
Musa and Isa. Did they warn their people
about ad-Dajjal? From where are these
narrations?

3. The dictionaries give the definitions of oneeyed as follows: having one eye: having the
sight of only one eye (Merriam Webster
Dictionary); having or showing only one eye
(the free dictionary); having but one eye
(http://dictionary.reference.com). According to
this meaning, we understand that ad-Dajjal had
only one eye and not two like every man and
animal. But later we will see in the hadiths that
ad-Dajjal had two eyes, one blind.

4. In hadith no.21, it is stated that he will have

something with him that re3ssembles hell and
paradise.

Ad-Dajjal was hidden on an island:

...

.

24 - Amir b. Sharahil Shabi Shab Hamdan reported

that he asked Fatimah, daughter of Qays and sister of
ad-Dahhak b. Qays and she was the first amongst the
emigrant women: She said: He said: By Allah. I
have not made you assemble for exhortation or for
a warning, but I have detained you here, for
Tamim ad-Dari, a Christian, who came and
accepted Islam, told me something, which agrees
35

with what I was telling, you about the ad-Dajjal. He

narrated to me that he had sailed in a ship along
with thirty men of Bani Lakhm and Bani Judham
and had been tossed by waves in the ocean for a
month. Then these (waves) took them (near) the
land within the ocean (island) at the time of
sunset I am going to tell you about myself and I
am Dajjal and would be soon permitted to get out
and so I shall get out and travel in the land, and
will not spare any town where I would not stay for
forty nights except Mecca and Medina as these two
(places) are prohibited (areas) for me and I would
not make an attempt to enter any one of these
two Behold he (Dajjal) is in the Syrian sea
(Mediterranean) or the Yemen sea (Arabian sea).24

1. In this hadith, we read that ad-Dajjal was found

on an island in the Mediterranean Sea OR
Arabian Sea. By the fact that the Prophet
mentioned OR indicates that he was not sure
of the place. So where was he? Can a Prophet
say something he was not sure? Have you not
heard that everything he said, it was
revelation?
2. In previous hadiths, we find that ad-Dajjal was
born in Medina. But how had he reached the
island in the Mediterranean Sea or the Arabian
Sea? Did he travel? By what means did he
travel?

24

. Sahih Muslim: Volume 41, hadith 7028.

36

3. The question of Mecca and Medina will be

dealt in the following section.

Ad-Dajjal did not enter Mecca and Medina:

These hadiths that are being quoted prove that adDajjal did not have access to Mecca and Medina. But
in the hadiths of the following section, we will see that
Medina only is mentioned. Also in the next section,
we will see that he had access to ALL land, except
Medina and he was unable to enter it. Let us see the
hadiths about Mecca and Medina:

25 - Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said:

There will be no town which Ad-Dajjal will not
enter except Mecca and Medina, and there will be
no entrance (road) but the angels will be standing
in rows guarding it against him, and then Medina
will shake with its inhabitants thrice and Allah will
expel all the non-believers and the hypocrites from
it. 25

25

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 30, hadith 105.

37

26 - Amir b. Sharahil Shabi Shab Hamdan reported

that he asked Fatimah, daughter of Qays and sister of
ad-Dahhak b. Qays and she was the first amongst the
emigrant women: I am going to tell you about
myself and I am Dajjal and would be soon permitted to
get out and so I shall get out and travel in the land, and
will not spare any town where I would not stay for
forty nights except Mecca and Medina as these two
(places) are prohibited (areas) for me and I would not
make an attempt to enter any one of these two. 26

. Sahih Muslim: Book 4, hadith 7028.

38

26

27 - Anas b. Malik reported that Allahs Messenger

said: There will be no land which would not be
covered by the Dajjal but Mecca and Medina, and
there would no passage out of the passages leading
to them which would not be guarded by angels
arranged in rows. Then he would appear in a
barren place adjacent to Medina and it would rock
three times that every unbeliever and hypocrite
would get out of it towards him. 27
Now let us see how many contradictions are there in
these hadiths:

1. In hadith 27, the Prophet said that he would

appear in a barren place adjacent to Medina
whereas in hadith 24, he said that he would be
in the Syrian Sea OR Arabian Sea (sea of
Yemen), on an island. The contradiction
between the hadiths is evident and clear. How
can he (ad-Dajjal) be in a barren place adjacent
to Medina and at the same time on an island in
the sea?
2. We have already pointed out that by using the
word OR, the Prophet was in doubt. Or is
used to link alternatives.

27

. Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7032.

39

3. In hadith 25, the Prophet said: and then

Medina will shake with its inhabitants
thrice while in hadith 27, he said: and it
would rock three times. The narrator of the
two hadith is the same Anas ibn Malik. How
could he narrate two different narrations?
4. The fact that ad-Dajjal did not have access to
Mecca and Medina has already been discussed.
Now we will see those hadiths in which adDajjal would enter ALL the lands except
Medina:

Ad-Dajjal entered all of the lands except

Medina:

28 - Narrated Abu Bakrah: The Prophet said: The

terror caused by al-Masih ad-Dajjal will not enter
Medina and at that time Medina will have seven
gates and there will be two angels at each gate
guarding them. 28

28

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 30, hadith 103.

40

29 - Narrated Anas and Abu Bakrah: The Prophet said:

The angels will guard Medina from Ad-Dajjal. 29

30 - Narrated Abu Huraira: Allahs Messenger said:

Neither al-Masih (ad-Dajjal) nor plague will enter
Medina. 30

31 - Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said: AdDajjal will come and encamp at a place close to
Medina and then Medina will shake thrice
whereupon every disbeliever and hypocrite will go
out towards him. 31

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 54, hadith 462.

32 - Narrated Abu Bakrah: The Prophet said: The

terror caused by al-Masih ad-Dajjal will not enter
Medina and at that time Medina will have seven
gates and there will be two angels at each gate. 32

33 - Narrated Abu Huraira: Allahs Messenger said:

There are angels at the mountain passes of Medina
(so that) neither plague nor ad-Dajjal can enter it.33

34 - Abu Huraira reported Allahs Messenger as

saying: Ad-Dajjal would come from the eastern side
with the intention of attacking Medina until he will
get down behind Uhud. Then the angels will turn
his face towards Syria and there he will perish. 34

42

1. So we have found that in these hadiths, only

Medina is mentioned. Are there contradictions
between the hadiths saying that ad-Dajjal had
no access to Mecca and Medina and the hadiths
that mentioned only Medina?
2. How would ad-Dajjal perish? There are so
many hadiths which stipulate the end of adDajjal but there are contradictions between
them. Please see the section the death of adDajjal for details.
3. Ad-Dajjal is said to encamp at a place near
Medina while he is on an island in the
Mediterranean or Yemenite Sea. How can this
possible.

Now that we have seen that ad-Dajjal had no access

to Mecca and/or Medina, it is question of dreams of
the Prophet. In these dreams, he reported having seen
ad-Dajjal near the Kabah, when in reality he stated
that Mecca is prohibited to him:

.

43

35 - Narrated Abdullah: The Prophet mentioned alMasih ad-Dajjal in front of the people saying: Allah is
not one-eyed while al-Masih ad-Dajjal is blind in
the right eye and his eye looks like a bulging out
grape. While sleeping near the Kabah last night, I
saw in my dream a man of brown color the best one
can see amongst brown color and his hair was long
that it fell between his shoulders. His hair was lank
and water was dribbling from his head and he was
placing his hands on the shoulders of two men
while circumambulating the Kabah. I asked: Who
is this? They replied: This is Isa, son of Mariam.
Behind him I saw a man who had very curly hair
and was blind in the right eye, resembling Ibn
Qatan (an infidel) in appearance. He was placing
his hands on the shoulders of a person while
performing the circumbulation around the Kabah.
I asked: Who is this? They replied: The Masih, AdDajjal. 35

35

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 55, hadith 649; Sahih

Muslim: Volume 1, hadith 327.

44

36 - Narrated Abdullah bin Umar: Allahs Messenger

said: Today I saw myself in a dream near the
Kabah. I saw a whitish brown man, the
handsomest of all brown men you might ever see.
He had the most beautiful hair hanging down to the
earlobes you might ever see. He had combed it and
it was dripping water; and he was performing the
circumbulation of the Kabah leaning on two men
or on the shoulders of two men. I asked: Who is
this? It was said: al-Masih, the son of Mariam.
Suddenly I saw a curly-haired man, blind in the
right eye which looked like a protruding out grape.
I asked: Who is this? It was said: He is al-Masih
ad-Dajjal. 36

36

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 72, hadith 789; Book 87,

hadith 128; Sahih Muslim: Book 1, hadith 323, 324, 325.

45

.

.

37 - Narrated Abdullah bin Umar: Allahs Messenger

said: While I was sleeping, I saw myself performing
the circumbulation of the Kabah. Behold, there I
saw a whitish-red lank-haired man between two
men with water dropping from his hair. I asked:
Who is this? The people replied: He is the son of
Mariam. Then I turned my face to see another man
with red complexion, big body, curly hair, and
blind in the right eye which looked like a
protruding out grape. I asked: Who is he? They
replied: He is ad-Dajjal. Ibn Qatan resembles him
more than anybody else among the people and Ibn
Qatan was a man from Bani Al-Mustaliq from
Khuzaah. 37
1. How could the Prophet see ad-Dajjal in dreams
near the Kabah? Is not Mecca prohibited for

9, Book 88, hadith 242.

46

him? Do not dreams of Prophets become true?

It is said in hadith:

38 - Narrated Aisha, (the wife of the Prophet): The

commencement (of the Divine Inspiration) to Allahs
Messenger was in the form of true dreams in his sleep,
for he never had a dream but it turned out to be true
and clear as the bright daylight. 38
2. And in another hadith it is said:

39 - Amr said: Ubay bin Umar said: The dreams of

the Prophets are Divine Inspirations. 39
3. So we come to the point that the dreams of the
Prophet were true and clear as bright daylight.
How then could the dream concerning adDajjal reveal that he was found around the
Kabah? Is not the dream of the Prophet true?
Then why is Mecca prohibited for ad-Dajjal?

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 1, hadith 3; Volume 6,

Book 60, hadith 478; Volume 9, Book 87, hadith 111.
39
. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 12, hadith 818.
38

47

Dont you think that the dream of the Prophet

was FALSE as ad-Dajjal would not have access
to Mecca? Do you still believe that ad-Dajjal is
going to come and will be destroyed by Isa
who is going to come also? How can you be
fooled with such belief?

Ad-Dajjal was one-eyed:

40 - Then the Prophet got up amongst the people,

glorifying Allah as He deserves, he mentioned adDajjal, saying: I warn you about him and there is no
prophet who did not warn his nation about him,
and Nuh warned his nation about him, but I tell
you a statement which no prophet informed his
nation of. You should understand that he is a oneeyed man and Allah is not one-eyed. 40

40

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 52, hadith 290; Book 55,

hadith 553.

48

41 - Nuh warned his followers against him but I am

telling you about him, something which no prophet
has told his people of, and that is: Know that he is oneeyed where as Allah is not one-eyed. 41

42 - Narrated Anas: The Prophet said: No prophet

was sent but that he warned his followers against
the one-eyed liar (ad-Dajjal). Beware! He is oneeyed and your Lord is not so and there will be
written between his eyes (the word) kafir (i.e.
disbeliever). 42
1. In all the hadiths (40 to 42), we see that adDajjal was ONE-EYED, meaning that he had
only one eye like Cyclops. A Cyclops, in
Greek mythology, and later in Roman
mythology, was a member of primordial race
of giants, each with a single eye in the middle
of his forehead. Was ad-Dajjal one-eyed like
the Cyclops? Do the above hadiths imply this
characteristic? Do we have such legend in
Islam? How then did he have two eyes?

. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 73, hadith 194, 241;

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7000.
42
. Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 8, Book 88, hadith 245, 505.
41

49

Ad-Dajjal was blind of the right eye:

After having seen that ad-Dajjal was one-eyed, now let

us see that he had two eyes. Are the contradictions
evident? These hadiths are mentioned in Sahih alBukhari, Sahih Muslim and others:

43 - Narrated Abdullah: The Prophet mentioned the

al-Masih ad-Dajjal in front of the people saying: Allah
is not one-eyed while al-Masih ad-Dajjal is blind in
the right eye and his eye looks like a bulging out
grape. 43
1. We dont understand how ad-Dajjal could be
one-eyed for Allah is not, yet his right eye
(meaning he had two eyes) was blind? Is this
really a contradiction? Or is there a
misunderstanding of the hadith?

43

Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 55, hadith 649.

50

44 - Narrated Salim from his father: Then I looked

behind and I saw a red-complexioned, fat, curlyhaired man, one-eyed blind in the right eye which
looked like a bulging out grape. 44

45 - Narrated Ibn Umar: The Prophet said: Verily,

your Lord is not blind in one eye, while he (i.e. adDajjal) is blind in the right eye which looks like a
grape bulging out (of its cluster). 45

46 - Narrated Abdullah bin Umar: Allahs Messenger

said: Suddenly I saw a curly-haired man, blind in
the right eye which looked like a protruding out
grape. I asked: Who is this? It was said: He is alMasih ad-Dajjal. 46
.

.
Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 5, Book 59, hadith 685;
Volume 9, Book 93, hadith 504; Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith
7005.
46
.
Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 72, hadith 789;
Volume 9, Book 87, hadith 128; Sahih Muslim: Book 1, hadith
323; Book 49, hadith 1675.
44
45

51

47 - Narrated Ibn Umar: The Prophet said (about adDajjal) that he is one eyed, his right eye is as if a
protruding out grape. 47
1. According to the dictionary, the word

means one-eyed, that is having only one eye

like the Cyclops and not two. Nevertheless, it
mentioned his right eye here, meaning adDajjal had two eyes? Do you understand this?

.

48 - It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah b.
Umar that one day the Messenger of Allah mentioned
in the presence of people about al-Masih al-Dajjal. He
said: Verily Allah (hallowed be He and High) is not
blind of one eye. Behold, but al-Masih ad-Dajjal is
one-eyed, blind of right eye as if his eye is like a
swollen grape. 48
47
48

.
.

Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 1, Book 88, hadith 238.

Sahih Muslim: Book 1, hadith 324.

52

Ad-Dajjal was blind of the left eye:

Muslim and Ibn Majah narrate a hadith which

contradict al-Bukhari by stating that ad-Dajjal is blind
of the left eye instead of the right:

49 - Hudhaifah reported that Allahs Messenger said:

Ad-Dajjal is blind of left eye with thick hair and
there would be a garden and fire with him and his
fire would be a garden and his garden would be
fire. 49

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7010.

53

49

50 - It was narrated that Hudhaifah said: The

Messenger of Allah said: Ad-Dajjal is blind in his
left eye and has abundant hair. With him will be a
Paradise and a Hell, but his Hell is Paradise and his
Paradise is Hell. 50
1. After considering the hadiths in the previous
section and those of this section, do we have to
reject them (49 and 50)? Are we willing to do
so or to say so?

The word kafir was written between his

eyes:

51 - Narrated Mujahid: I was in the company of Ibn

Abbas and the people talked about ad-Dajjal and said:
Ad-Dajjal will come with the word kafir (nonbeliever) written in between his eyes. On that Ibn
Abbas said: I have not heard this from the Prophet but
I heard him saying: As if I saw Moses just now
entering the valley reciting talbiya. 51

50
51

.
.

Sunan Ibn Majah: Volume 5, Book 36, hadith 4071.

Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 26, hadith 626.

54

1. Please note that Ibn Abbas denied the

statement of the Prophet: the word kafir (nonbeliever) written in between his eyes by
saying: I have not heard this from the
Prophet. This is repeated in the following
hadith by the same narrator:

52 - Narrated Mujahid: That when the people

mentioned before Ibn Abbas that ad-Dajjal would
have the word kafir (i.e. unbeliever) or the letters K F
R written on his forehead, I heard Ibn Abbas saying: I
did not hear this, but the Prophet said: If you want to
see Ibrahim, then look at your companion (i.e. the
Prophet) but Musa was a curly-haired, brown man
(who used to ride) a red camel, the reins of which
was made of fires of date-palms. As if I was now
looking down a valley! 52

52

Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 55, hadith 574.

55

53 - Narrated Mujahid: We were with Ibn Abbas and

the people mentioned ad-Dajjal. Someone said: The
word kafir (unbeliever) is written in between his eyes.
Ibn Abbas said: I have not heard the Prophet saying
this, but he said: As regards Ibrahim, he looks like
your companion and as regards Musa, he is a brown
curly haired man riding a camel and reigned with a
strong jute rope, as if I am now looking at him getting
down in the valley and saying: Labbaik! 53
Now we hear from Anas that the Prophet made such a
statement:

.

.

.
Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 72, hadith 795; Sahih
Muslim: Book 1, hadith 320.
53

56

54 - Narrated Anas: The Prophet said: No prophet

was sent but that he warned his followers against
the one-eyed liar (ad-Dajjal). Beware! He is blind
in one eye, and your Lord is not so and there will
be written between his eyes (the word) kafir. This
Hadith is also quoted by Abu Huraira and Ibn
Abbas.54
1. The statement at the end of the hadith that Ibn
Abbas also narrated this statement has already
been mentioned before. Ibn Abbas said that he
had not heard the Prophet saying so. So how
can we say that he narrated it?

Ad-Dajjal had Paradise and Hell with him:

We enter in the subject of what ad-Dajjal had with

him. We note that he had:

Paradise and hell.

Bread and water.
Water and fire.
Two rivers.
Bread and fire.
Garden and fire.
Food and water.
River and fire.

Now let us see the hadiths:

.
Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 88, hadith 245; Book
93, hadith 505.
54

57

55 - Abu Huraira reported Allahs Messenger as

saying: May I not inform you about ad-Dajjal what
no Apostle of Allah narrated to his people? He
would be blind and he would bring along with him
an image of Paradise and Hell-Fire and what he
would call Paradise that would be Hell-Fire and I
warn you as Nuh warned his people. 55

56 - It was narrated that Hudhaifah said: The

Messenger of Allah said: Ad-Dajjal is blind in his
left eye and has abundant hair. With him will be a
Paradise and a Hell, but his Hell is Paradise and his
Paradise is Hell. 56

58

He had bread and water:

.

.

.

57 - Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shubah: Nobody asked

the Prophet as many questions as I asked regarding adDajjal. The Prophet said to me: What worries you
about him? I said: Because the people say that he will
have a mountain of bread and a river of water with
him. The Prophet said: Nay, he is too mean to be
allowed such a thing by Allah. 57

1. Here we see that people said he would have

mountain of bread and river of water with him,
but the Prophet denied this saying: Nay, he is
too mean to be allowed such a thing by
Allah.

57

Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 88, hadith 238.

59

He had water and fire:

.

58 - Narrated Rabi bin Hirash: Uqbah bin Amr said
to Hudhaifah: Wont you relate to us of what you have
heard from Allahs Apostle? He said: I heard him
saying: When ad-Dajjal appears, he will have fire
and water along with him. What the people will
consider as cold water, will be fire that will burn
(things). So, if anyone of you comes across this, he
should fall in the thing which will appear to him as
fire, for in reality, it will be fresh cold water. 58
1. If the Prophet denied that ad-Dajjal had a
mountain of bread and a river of water with
him, did he approve that he would have fire
and water?

58

Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 55, hadith 659.

60

59 - Narrated Hudhaifah: The Prophet said about adDajjal that he would have water and fire with him:
(what would seem to be) fire, would be cold water and
(what would seem to be) water, would be fire. 59

60 - Hudhaifah reported Allahs Messenger as saying:

Ad-Dajjal would have with him water and fire and
his fire would have the effect of cold water and his
water would have the effect of fire, so dont put
yourself to ruin. Abu Masud reported: I also heard it
from Allahs Messenger. 60

61 - Uqbah b. Amr Abu Masud al-Ansari reported: I

went to Hudhaifah b. Yaman and said to him: Narrate
what you have heard from Allahs Messenger
pertaining to ad-Dajjal. He said that ad-Dajjal would
appear and there would be along with him water
and fire and what the people would see as water
that would be fire and that would burn and what
would appear as fire that would be water and any
one of you who would see that should plunge in that
which he sees as fire for it would be sweet, pure
water, and Uqbah said: I also heard it, testifying
Hudhaifah. 61

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7012.

62

Then he had two rivers or canals:

62 - It was narrated that Hudhaifah said: The

Messenger of Allah said: I know what ad-Dajjal will
have with him. He will have two flowing rivers, one
that appears to the eye to be clear water, and one
that appears to the eye to be flaming fire. If anyone
sees that, let him go to the river which he thinks is
fire and close his eyes, then lower his head and
drink from it, for it is cool water. Ad-Dajjal has one
blind eye, with a layer of thick skin over it, and
between his eyes is written disbeliever, which
every believer will read, whether he is literate or
illiterate. 62

62

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7010.

63

63 - Hudhaifah and Ibn Masud met together.

Hudhaifah said: I know more than you as to what there
would be along with ad-Dajjal. There would be along
with him two canals (one flowing with water) and the
other one (having) fire (within it), and what you would
see as fire would be water and what you would see as
water would be fire. So he who amongst you is able to
see that and is desirous of water should drink out of
that which he sees as fire. In fact it will be water. 63
1. The Prophet denied the fact that ad-Dajjal
would have a mountain of bread and a river of
water, but here he approved of the two rivers
which he had with him. Do you understand
something from this hadith?

63

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7013.

64

Then he had garden and fire:

64 - Hudhaifah reported that Allahs Messenger said:

Ad-Dajjal is blind of left eye with thick hair and
there would be a garden and fire with him and his
fire would be a garden and his garden would be
fire. 64
1. Could ad-Dajjal have all these things with him:
Paradise and Hell, mountain of bread and fire,
a river of water, fire and water, two rivers and
garden and fire? Dont you think that he had
nothing at all because he was a myth and did
not exist?

2. Are we willing to accept all these hadiths

which are in contradiction with each other?

Ad-Dajjal had the power to kill and to bring

back to life:

In several verses of the Quran, Allah says that He

gives life and death:

64

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7010.

65

Thus does Allah bring the dead to life, and He shows

you His signs that you might reason. 65
When Ibrahim said, My Lord is the one who gives life
and causes death, he said, I give life and cause
death.66
And it is Allah who gives life and causes death, and
Allah is Seeing of what you do. 67
He gives life and causes death. 68

Because He gives life to the dead and because He is

over all things competent. 69
And He is the one who gave you life; then He causes
you to die and then will [again] give you life. 70
.
Sourah 2, al-Baqarah, verse 73.
.
Sourah 2, al-Baqarah, verse 158.
67
.
Sourah 3, ali-Imran, verse 156.
68
.
Sourah 7, al-Araf, verse 158; Sourah 9, at-Tawbah,
verse 116; Sourah 10, Yunus, verse 56; Sourah 40, Ghafir, verse
68 and Sourah 57, al-Hadid, verse 2.
69
.
Sourah 22, al-Hajj, verse 6.
65
66

66

And it is He who gives life and causes death. 71

Allah is the one who created you, then provided for
you, then will cause you to die, and then will give you
life. 72
And He gives life to the dead, and He is over all things
competent. 73
He gives life and causes death. 74

So we see that Allah has the capacity of giving life to

death. No one can do so except with His permission,
as He did to Musa and Isa. In the case of Musa, He
said:

.
.
72
.
73
.
74
.
70
71

Sourah 22, al-Hajj, verse 66.

Sourah 23, al-Muminune, verse 80.
Sourah 30, ar-Rum, verse 40.
Sourah 42, ash-Shoura, verse 9.
Sourah 44, ad-Dukhan, verse 8

67

And [recall] when you slew a man and disputed over

it, but Allah was to bring out that which you were
concealing.

So, We said, Strike the slain man with part of it. Thus
does Allah bring the dead to life, and He shows you
His signs that you might reason. 75
In the case of Isa, He said:

And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the
dead - by permission of Allah. 76

75
76

.
.

Sourah 2, al-Baqarah, verses 72-73.

Sourah 3, ali-Imran, verse 49.

68

65 - Narrated Abu Said al-Khudri: Allahs Messenger

told us a long narrative about ad-Dajjal and among the
many things he mentioned was his saying: Ad-Dajjal
will come and it will be forbidden for him to pass
through the entrances of Medina. He will land in
some of the salty barren areas (outside) Medina; on
that day the best man or one of the best men will
come up to him and say: I testify that you are the
same ad-Dajjal whose description was given to us
by Allahs Messenger. Ad-Dajjal will say to the
people: If I kill this man and bring him back to life
again, will you doubt my claim? They will say: No.
Then Ad-Dajjal will kill that man and bring him
back to life. That man will say: Now I know your
reality better than before. Ad-Dajjal will say: I
want to kill him but I cannot. 77

1. There is something strange and fishy in this

hadith. Ad-Dajjal killed that man and brought
him back to life but he said: I want to kill him
but I cannot! What a contradiction!

.
Sahih al-Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 30, hadith 106;
Volume 9, Book 88, hadith 246.
77

69

66 - He would then call a person brimming with

youth and strike him with the sword and cut him
into two pieces and (make these pieces lie at a
distance which is generally) between the archer and
his target. He would then call (that young man) and
he will come forward laughing with his face
gleaming (with happiness).

.

.

The Dajjal would then order for breaking his head
and utter (these words): Catch hold of him and
break his head. He would be struck even on his
back and on his stomach. Then ad-Dajjal would
ask him: Dont you believe in me? He would say:
You are al-Masih the liar. He would then order him
to be torn (into pieces) with a saw from the parting
of his hair up to his legs. After that ad-Dajjal would
walk between the two pieces. He would then say to
him: Stand! And he would stand erect. He would
then say to him: Dont you believe in me? And the
70

person would say: It has only added to my insight

concerning you. 78
1. Did Allah permit ad-Dajjal to do all these
things? Is it not strange that ad-Dajjal would
kill him and then asked him question: Dont
you believe in me? Can the dead person hear
and answer the living one? But the dead did
answer by saying: A second time he would kill
him and ask him to stand which he did. How
can someone torn to pieces stand up when
ordered to? Are not these hadiths fishy?

Ad-Dajjal killed al-Khadir, the companion

of Musa:
How is al-Khadir related to Musa? In the Quran, the
name al-Khadir is not found. From where then did the
name originate? Is it really in hadiths?

.

67 - Abu Said al-Khudri reported that Allahs

Messenger one day gave a detailed account of adDajjal and in that it was also included: He would
come but would not be allowed to enter the
mountain passes to Medina. So he will alight at
some of the barren tracts near Medina, and a
person who would be the best of men or one from
amongst the best of men would say to him: I bear
testimony to the fact that you are ad-Dajjal about
whom Allahs Messenger had informed us. AdDajjal would say: What is your opinion if I kill this
(person), then I bring him back to life; even then
will you harbour doubt in this matter? They would
say: No. He would then kill (the man) and then
bring him back to life. When he would bring that
person to life, he would say: By Allah! I had no
better proof of the fact than at the present time.
Ad-Dajjal would then make an attempt to kill him
but he would not be able to do that. Abu Ishaq
reported that it was said: That person was alKhadir. 79
79

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7017.

72

1. The statement of Abu Ishaq: That person

was al-Khadir is doubtful. Do we have to
consider it as sahih because it is narrated in
Sahih Muslim?

2. The majority of Muslims believe that al-Khadir

is still alive and he is somewhere on a seaside.
Do the Muslims mean to say that al-Khadir has
been granted a long life? Do the Muslims
believe that the name of al-Khadir can be used
nowadays to expel evils? How foolish they are
to have such belief?
3. The name al-Khadir is cited more than 105
times in several hadiths. While the Quran does
not mention it, even once. Why? Have Allah
forgotten to tell his name? Is Allah forgetful?
And never is your Lord forgetful. 80

Ad-Dajjal commanded the sky to rain and

the earth to produce vegetation:

In the Quran, Allah says, referring to rain and

vegetation:

80

Sourah 19, Mariam, verse 64.

73

[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out]
and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain
and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you.81
And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and
We produce thereby the growth of all things. 82
We drive them to a dead land and We send down rain
therein and bring forth thereby [some] of all the
fruits.83

He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow

according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a
rising foam. 84

.
.
83
.
84
.
81
82

Sourah 2, al-Baqarah, verse 22.

Sourah 6, al-Anam, verse 99.
Sourah 7, al-Araf, verse 57.
Sourah 13, ar-Rad, verse 17.

74

It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and

sent down rain from the sky and produced thereby
some fruits as provision for you and subjected for you
the ships to sail through the sea by His command and
subjected for you the rivers. 85

It is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is

drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture
[animals]. 86
And Allah has sent down rain from the sky and given
life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. 87

And present to them the example of the life of this

world, [its being] like rain which We send down from
the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it
and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the
winds. 88
.
.
87
.
88
.
85
86

Sourah 14, Ibrahim, verse 32.

Sourah 16, an-Nahl, verse 10.
Sourah 16, an-Nahl, verse 65.
Sourah 18, al-Kahf, verse 45.

75

And you see the earth barren, but when We send down
upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows
[something] of every beautiful kind. 89

And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings

before His mercy, and We send down from the sky
pure water. 90
Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and
sends down the rain and knows what is in the
wombs.91
1. It is evident and clear from the above verses
that Allah alone has the power and capacity of
sending water (rain) from the sky and make
vegetations and fruits grow.
2. In the following hadiths, an-Nawwas ibn
Saman narrated that ad-Dajjal caused rain to
fall from the sky and crops and vegetations to
grow:

.
.
91
.
89
90

Sourah 22, al-Hajj, verse 5.

Sourah 25, al-Furqan, verse 48.
Sourah 31, Luqman, verse 34.

76

68 - He would then give command to the sky and

there would be rainfall upon the earth and it would
grow crops. 92

3. Would Allah give someone else the capacity

and the power to cause rain to fall from the
sky? Does He not say that He alone has the
Power to do so? Does he share this power with
ad-Dajjal, who is said to be a liar? So you
Muslims must ponder on this and the
remaining hadiths quoted in this treaty and
which prove that ad-Dajjal is a myth and does
not exist. Are not the proofs advanced in the
treaty convincing?

Ad-Dajjal and the rising of the sun in the

west:

.
92

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7015.

77

69 - It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that

the Messenger of Allah observed: When three things
appear faith will not benefit one who has not
previously believed or has derived no good from his
faith: the rising of the sun in its place of setting, adDajjal, and the beast of the earth. 93

1. These three signs mentioned by the Prophet

will be announcing the Hour (the
Resurrection). Among them we have the
coming of ad-Dajjal. This statement makes the
Muslims more foolish when they believe in it.
Have we not seen that according to certain
hadiths, ad-Dajjal had already come and gone?
So what ad-Dajjal are we waiting?

The death of ad-Dajjal:

-

-

93

Sahih Muslim: Book 1, hadith 296.

78

70 - Abdullah b. Amr reported that a person came to

him and said: What is this hadith that you narrate that
the Last Hour would come at such and such time?
Thereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah! There is no
god but Allah (or the words to the same effect). I have
decided that I would not narrate anything to anyone
now. I had only said that you would see after some
time an important event that the House (Kabah)
would be burnt and it would happen and definitely
happen. He then reported that Allahs Messenger said:
The Dajjal would appear in my Ummah and he
would stay for forty - I cannot say whether he meant
forty days, forty months or forty years. And Allah
would then send Isa, son of Mariam who would
resemble Urwa b. Masud. He would chase him
and kill him. 94

94

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7023.

79

71 - He would then call (that young man) and he will

come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with
happiness) and it would be at this very time that Allah
would send Christ, son of Mary, and he will descend at
the white minaret in the eastern side of Damascus
wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and
placing his hands on the wings of two Angels. When
he would lower his head, there would fall beads of
perspiration from his head, and when he would raise it
up, beads like pearls would scatter from it. Every nonbeliever who would smell the odor of his self would
die and his breath would reach as far as he would be
able to see. He would then search for him until he
would catch hold of him at the gate of Ludd and would
kill him. 95

.

95

Sahih Muslim: Book 41, hadith 7015.

80

72 - An-Nawwas b. Saman al-Kilabi said: The

Messenger of Allah mentioned ad-Dajjal saying: If he
comes forth while I am among you, I shall be the
one who will dispute with him on your behalf, but if
he comes forth when I am not among you, a man
must dispute on his own behalf, and Allah will take
my place in looking after every Muslim. Those of
you who live up to his time should recite over him
the opening verses of Sourah alKahf, for they are
your protection from his trial. We asked: How long
will he remain on the earth? He replied: Forty days,
one like a year, one like a month, one like a week,
and rest of his days like yours. We asked: Messenger
of Allah! Will one days prayer suffice us in this day
which will be like a year? He replied: No you must
make an estimate of its extent. Then Isa, son of
Mariam will descend near the white minaret to the east
of Damascus. He will then catch him up at the gate of
Ludd and kill him. 96

96

Sunan Abu Dawud: Book 38, hadith 4307.

81

73 - Abu Huraira reported Allahs Messenger as

saying: Al-Masih (ad-Dajjal) will come from the
eastern side with the intention of attacking Medina
until he will get down behind Uhud. Then the angels
will turn his face towards Syria and there he will
perish. 97

74 - Then their leader will lead them in prayer. When

he has finished, Isa will say: Open the gate. So they
will open it and behind it will be ad-Dajjal with
seventy thousand Jews, each of them carrying an
adorned sword and wearing a greenish cloak. When
ad-Dajjal looks at him, he will start to melt as salt
melts in water. He will run away, and Isa will say: I
have only one blow for you, which you will not be
able to escape! He will catch up with him at the
eastern gate of Ludd, and will kill him. 98
1. How would ad-Dajjal perish? In the aforementioned hadiths, we find that Isa is going to
kill him at the gate of Ludd.

97
98

.
.

Sahih Muslim: Book 7, hadith 3187.

Sunan Ibn Majah: Volume 5, Book 36, hadith 4077.

82

2. Then we find that the angels will turn his face

towards Syria and he would perish.

3. Is there not a contradiction between the two

hadiths? Do we have to accept them because
they are found in Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu
Dawud and Sunan Ibn Majah? Is it not great
time that we consider the validity and
acceptance of hadiths? Do we continue to be
fooled by awaiting the coming of ad-Dajjal?

Conclusion:

We therefore make the following conclusion:

Muslims of today and of the future must be on their

guard so as not to be fooled by these false hadiths
narrated concerning ad-Dajjal. There are many
contradictions between them as we have already seen.
Ad-Dajjal is therefore a myth and does not exist. He
had not been granted a long life until the sun rises in
the West. Had he? He could not have made miracles
like causing rain to fall from the sky, causing plant to
grow, or killed someone and brought him back to life,
killed al-Khadir, which is another myth etc.
Isa will not descend in the end of time and kill adDajjal. We have seen that ad-Dajjals face would be
turn towards Syria and he would perish. We have also
seen that at times he was said to be born in Medina, at
times he would be on an island in the Syrian Sea or
Yemenite Sea.

83

All these contradictions cause Muslims not to believe

in the coming of ad-Dajjal. He was a myth and is still
one.
