ELECTIONS 2016

PASSION, INTEGRITY & APNAPAN

The Federal elections are now announced. Please register/update your details ASAP if you have just
turned 18, become Australian citizen or have changed addresses. All the details are available at
http://aec.gov.au/enrol/
If you are eligible to vote and will be in Pakistan at the time of election, please note that there is no
facility at the Australian High Commission in Pakistan to vote so please register yourself for postal
vote. This is very important as many Muslims go to Saudi Arabia during the last ten days of Ramazan or
would be planning to visit Pakistan to celebrate eid with family.
It is of extreme importance that you select the candidates on the basis of the party policies. A number
of new migrants that we have discussed the issues are confused as to who to vote for. The ABC News
channel has launched this tool which may be helpful in understanding the policies of the three major
parties in Australia so do give it a try. Beside try to attend Election forums so you can ask questions
from the prospective candidates and understand their perspectives and party policies.
