B. Count the number of corners of shapes
C. Find enjoyment in forming figure out of shapes

II.

Subject Matter
Describing shapes according to number of corners
Reference: BEC PELC III.A.2.2
Materials: pictures, cutouts of different shapes, envelop
Value: Enjoyment

III.

Procedure
Teachers Activity
A. Presentation
1. Motivation
Before we start our new lesson for
today, Let us first sing a song, Small
Circle

Pupils Activity

2. Drill
I have here some exercise on the drill
cards. Name the different shapes, as I
show you the cards, you will give us the
answer.
3. Review
I have here another set of drill cards. As
I show you the cards you tell me how
many sides it shapes has.
B. Presentation
I have here a different picture. Place it in the
proper heading
With Corners

What shape represents the frame, book and

notebook?
How many corners does a rectangle have?
What shape represents the clock, puzzle and cube?
How many corners does a square have?
What shape represents ice cream cone, triangle and
pyramid?
How many corners does a triangle have?
In second column, what shape represents the ball,

Without Corners

It represents rectangle.
Rectangle have 4 corners
It represents square.
Square have 4 corners.
It represents triangle.
Triangle has 3 corners.

marble and mirror?

How many corners does a circle have?
I have here other examples. Study these shapes. The
corners are represented by letters.

It represent circle.

What is the first shape?

What letters represent the shape?
What is the second shape?
What letters represent the shape?
And what is the last shape?
What letters represent the shape?
How many corners does a square have?
How about the triangle?
And lastly, how many corners do a rectangle has?
What did you do before telling the number of
corners of each shape?

The first shape is square.

It represents RLCS
The second shape is triangle.
It represents JMVS
The last shape is rectangle.
It represent BPNT
Square has 4 corners
Triangle has 3 corners
Rectangle has 4 corners

Circle does not have a corner.

We count the number of corners.

I have here another activity. Look at the figures and

answer the question.

1.
2.
3.
4.

Which shapes have 4 corners? _____

Which shapes have 3 corners? _____
Which shapes have no corners? _____
Which shapes have more than 4 corners?
_____

C. Practice Exercise
Now, I will group you into two groups. The
first group will draw the objects with
different number of corners then color them.
The second group will cut the object with
different number of corners using the
magazines and scissors. And after the
activity identify the object and describe it by
telling the number of corners.

(Pupils do the Activity)

We can describe shapes by counting the number

of corners.

D. Generalization
How do we describe shapes?
E. Application
Fill in the blanks with the correct answer.
1.

Rectangle T has __ corners

Triangle T has __corners

Square M has __ corners

Rectangle L has __ corners
2.

Square J has __ corners

Rectangle N has __ corners

3.

Triangle S has __ corners

Square S has __ corners

4.

Rectangle C has__ corners

Triangle R has __ corners

5.

F. Fixing Skills
I have here a envelop inside the envelop are
cutouts of different shapes, paste and manila
paper. All you have to do is make a figure
out of these shapes. Then write the number
of corners of each shape. Before we start the
activity, what are the standards in a group
activity?

IV.

Evaluation
Write the number of corners for the
following shapes.
