In recognition of the immediate importance of creating value from intellectual capital, this forum will help
leaders understand the concepts and significance of knowledge management as well as how they may
apply KM tools and techniques to achieve a real and lasting advantage. We will gather a number of
academic and practitioners experts, keynote speakers, and KM specialists, both multinational and Arab, all
grouped to share their collective wisdom in the KM domain.

JOHN GIRARD, PH.D. is an associate professor of management at Minot State University, USA where
he teaches graduate and undergraduate management courses. John is researching the
relationships existing between information anxiety, organizational memory loss, and
contemporary knowledge management theories. John is co-founder and Chief Knowledge
Strategist of Sagology (www.sagology.com), a firm dedicated to connecting people with people to
facilitate collaboration, learning, and knowledge sharing through keynotes, workshops, and
consulting. John has written more than twenty-five articles and chapters for peer-reviewed or
trade journals, magazines and books. John’s first book was an edited volume entitled Building Organizational
Memories: Will you know what you knew? published by IGI Global in 2009. John is the lead author of A Leader’s
Guide to Knowledge Management: Drawing on the Past to Enhance Future Performance, published by Business
Expert Press in 2009. John speaks regularly on the subject of knowledge management. He has spoken in the United
States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America at such events as KM Australia, KM Asia, KM
World, APQC’s Knowledge Management Conference, the World Congress on Intellectual Capital, and InfoVision

DR. NAIM AL-THAHER is an associate professor at Zarka Privat University in Amman, Jordan. He
earned dual doctorate degrees (Business Administration and Political Geography) from Western
and Arab universities. He is a very experienced academic and practitioner, having held a diverse
portfolio of positions including: Chief of continuing education and community service in the
Ministry of Higher Education in Jordan; Chief of development, planning and ongoing training, in
the Balqa Applied University. Acting Director of TQM in the Balqa Applied University and member
of the faculty at the Faculty of Theology University. Director of the Regional Office of the
University of Lahaye International, Member of the faculty at the Al Zarqa'a Private University. Dr. Al-Thaher
current research interest focus on globalization, Arab democracy, and Arab crisis management. He has written
extensively in areas such as: : knowledge management , crisis management, management strategy, human recourses
management, principles of economic management, political administration, the state administration, administrative
systems, business administration principles, and management of globalization in a changing world. He may be

LUKE NAISMITH is currently a Strategy Adviser with the Dubai Government’s Knowledge and
Human Development Authority. He has more than 20 years of experience in strategic
management settings including government service delivery, knowledge management strategies
and initiatives, information economy and education strategic policy development and the
application of foresight techniques to social and business challenges. Well known for his
expertise in making insightful analyses of complex situations, Luke has initiated and managed
many collaborative projects that developed practical and creative solutions to difficult issues. He has made an active
contribution to the development of the Australian Standard on Knowledge Management and initiated the Australian
Public Service KM Group. Luke has presented at many domestic and international conferences and published expert
papers and book chapters on the subjects of knowledge management, industry development and strategic
foresight. He recently completed his Masters of Science in Strategic Foresight at Swinburne University of
Technology. Luke’s eclectic research interests include harnessing energy in the workplace, advancing education in
