How to Enable AirPrint for Windows

AirPrint is a major feature of the iOS 4.2. But it is limited to certain "AirPrint enabled"
models of HP, Canon, Brother, Epson and Lexmark printers.
Now Windows users can use AirPrint with any printer on the same Wi-Fi network as
their iPhone, iPod or iPad.
Prerequisites:
1. Make sure you have iTunes and Bonjour Printer Services installed.
2. Make sure the printer is set up as shared printer on your local PC.
3. Make sure you have full administrator privileges to enable/disable services on

your PC.
Steps to enable AirPrint on Windows 7/Vista/XP:
1. If you have 64-bit Windows OS, go to C:\Program Files (x86) and create a new

folder called AirPrint as shown in the screenshot below:

If you have 32-bit Windows OS, go to C:\Program Files and create a new folder

Con iOS 4.2+ puedes enviar una solicitud de impresin desde tu dispositivo mvil hacia tu
impresora en tu red local a travs de AirPrint. A pesar de que algunas impresoras nuevas
con conexin inalmbrica ya pueden acceder a AirPrint en forma inmediata, tambin
puedes activar impresoras ms viejas que estn conectadas a tu computadora, ya sea que
tengas una computadora con Windows o una que ejecute el sistema operativo OS X.
Despus de habilitar la impresora compartir sus recursos y de instalar algunos programas
que estn disponibles en forma gratuita, podrs aprovechar AirPrint para utilizarlo con la
impresora que quieras.

Mtodo 1 de 2: Windows

Comparte una impresora que est conectada a tu computadora.
o Para el sistema operativo XP, abre la ventana "Impresoras y faxes". Puedes
acceder a ella a travs de "Impresoras y otro hardware" en el "Panel de
control". Haz clic derecho en la impresora deseada y selecciona "Uso
compartido" en el men contextual. Dirgete hacia la pestaa "Uso
compartido" y selecciona el botn de la opcin "Compartir esta impresora".

o Para los sistemas operativos Windows Vista y 7, dirgete hacia "Centro de

redes y recursos compartidos", al cual puedes acceder desde "Redes e
Internet" en el "Panel de control". Debajo de "Compartir impresoras"
selecciona "Activar el uso compartido de impresoras" y luego selecciona
"Aplicar" o "Guardar cambios". Ve hacia el panel "Dispositivos e
impresoras", al cual puedes accede desde el men "Inicio", haz clic derecho
en la impresora que quieras usar y selecciona "Propiedades de impresora" en

el men contextual. Debajo de "Uso compartido" selecciona "Compartir esta

impresora".

Instala iTunes 10.1+.
o Crea una carpeta llamada "AirPrint".

o Si tienes una computadora de 64 bits, coloca esta carpeta en "C:\ Program

Files (x86)", y si tienes una de 32 bits, colcala en "C:\ Program Files".

o Descarga AirPrint.zip (disponible en Mediafire), y descomprmelo en la

carpeta que hayas creado.

Abre el intrprete de comandos e ingresa un comando especfico, que
depender de la ubicacin de tu archivo.
o Si pusiste la carpeta Airprint en "C:\ Program Files (x86)": sc.exe create
AirPrint binPath= "C:\ Program Files (x86)\AirPrint\airprint.exe -s"
depend= "Bonjour Service" start= auto.

o Si pusiste la carpeta Airprint en "C:\ Program Files": sc.exe create AirPrint

binPath= "C:\ Program Files\AirPrint\airprint.exe -s" depend= "Bonjour
Service" start= auto.

Ingresa el siguiente comando en el intrprete: sc.exe start AirPrint.

En la ventana que aparece, selecciona "Permitir acceso" y ahora podrs
imprimir una archivo desde tu dispositivo con iOS.

Conecta la impresora en tu computadora.

Install AirPrint for Windows The Easy

If you are facing any difficulties in following the manual procedure to enable AirPrint
service on Windows, you can now use this Easy installer (by TadGhostal). The installer is
compatible with Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista. For the uninformed, iOS
4.2.1 comes with a unique feature called AirPrint which allows you to print your
documents, emails, web-pages and photos over a Wifi connection with your Apple iOS
device.

Prerequisites:
1. Download and install iTunes 10.1 from here
2. Make sure the printer is setup as a shared printer on your local PC
3. Printer and iOS device should share the same Wifi connection
4. Make sure you have full administrator privileges to enable / disable services on your
PC

How to Install Airprint for Windows Easily

Download the installer for Windows from here. Once downloaded, right-click on setup.exe
and choose Run as administrator from the pop-up menu.

Just follow the on-screen instructions to install the service on Windows:

Once installation completes, Windows Firewall will prompt you allow or deny features to
be shared over networks. Click on Allow access button.

Please note that only HP ePrint enabled Photosmart, Officejet and Laserjet printers
currently support this service. You don't need any additional network setup if you are using
one of these printers and can print any media directly from your iOS device running 4.2.1

Update x1: The installer doesn't work on iOS 5. You may try FingerPrint by Collobos
instead if your device is running iOS 5 or higher.
Update x2: The newest version of AirPrint Installer is now updated to work with iOS 5 and
reportedly iOS 6 as well (file available at the top of this post).

Steps to enable AirPrint on Windows 7/Vista/XP:

3. Go to Run and type "cmd" to open Command

4. Now use the following set of commands respective to

your OS version:
Notification: If AirPrint service has already been
installed on your computer and is still in the list of
services you have to delete it first by typing in:

5. As soon as you will start the AirPrint service,

Windows Firewall will prompt you allow or deny
AirPrint features to be shared over networks. Click
on Allow access button.

6. That's it. Now open any document or email on your

device with iOS 4.2 or later installed and click on the
Print option to print the document wirelessly over a
WiFi connection.
