Eph. 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might
be made the righteousness of God in him.

Matt. 15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought
him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

Gracious God and Holy Father:

Help me contemplate Christ in his sayings on the cross. First is his
fellowship with men: Father, forgive them. He stands with the sinners who crucified
him, and tries to make apology for them, For they know not what they do.
Next is his Kingly power as he opens heavens gate to the dying thief, To
day shalt thou be with me in Paradise. Third, I see his human relationships. How near
of kin he is to me, as even in his death throes he thinks of his mother and says,
Woman, behold thy son. He is more a human than any man has been!
I see him next, taking my sin saying, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken
me? Let me never forget it was because he bore my sin that he was forsaken by
God (2 Cor. 5:21). Help __________ and __________ see this! I behold him in
the fifth cry saying, I thirst. There he takes not only my sin, but steps into my
suffering, and all the infirmity and limitations of my physical nature and flesh.
But if I want to see his fullness as well as his weakness, and his allsufficiency as well as his sorrow, I need to listen to him cry, It is finished. Jesus
drained-dry the bitter cup of gall God gave him. There is not a penny to be added
to the ransom price. Jesus paid it all! If I want to see how he reconciles me to
himself because of that completed redemption, I behold him taking me with him
as he draws up that last word, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. Christ goes
back to the Father, and I can come to the Father, because It is finished on the
cross. Help me get that gospel good news to __________ and __________!
Seven sayings from the cross. A harp of seven strings. Nether time nor
eternity will be able to gather all the music out of them. Praise the Lord! Amen.

Gracious God and Father:

I know someone just like her! They say they feel like they tried God, but
got no response. Maybe I can remind them about this story, where you did not
immediately bestow a blessing, even though the woman had great faith to seek
it. Maybe I can encourage them that even though you intend to give it, you still
may wait awhile, and cause them to seek you with their whole heart. How many
times have I seen you do that in my own life?
Her prayers were good. Her case was needy. She felt her distress and
desperate dependence sufficientlyeven overwhelmingly! She was intensely
earnest, and had faith that made even you wonder.
Faith brings peace, but not always instantly. You may have good
reasons to call for the trying of our faith. Certainly, anyone who ever believed
Jesus COULD save them SHOULD keep on seeking him.
O Lord, make the faith of __________ and __________ blossom and bud
this week. Give them grace to come to church with me, and seek you again if
they have ever been willing to seek you before! Some people, like the Philippian
jailor, are turned from darkness to light in a moment. But others are plants that
grow slower. The seed has to be watered a while before it germinates. A deeper
sense of sin is required. Lord, give me patience to work with __________, pray
for __________, and keep witnessing to them.
I still believe in the love of your heart though it sometimes sounds like
silence. I will not give up seeking and trusting you for salvation for anyone. I will
depend on you even where there is no evidence your Spirit is working. Amen.

Heavenly Father and Holy King:

Parents can injure their children for eternity unless you prevent it.
Especially when they are young, the parents are like god to them. Their conduct
is shaped according to the pattern they see in adults. Give us a radical holiness,
not just in the work-room, but right around the kitchen table!
There are many who looking back have to say, Thank God I was delivered
from the evil influence I had as a child. Do not let my childrenphysical or
spiritualhave to say that about me! Give me grace to walk with a perfect heart
within my own house. Give me radical holiness there!
Who will I be today? How will I act to my employer, coworkers, children,
spouse, neighbors, and family? God, by your infinite grace and by the power of
the Holy Ghost, help me walk with a perfect heart at such times and in such
places that I honor your church, glorify you, and blessing comes to my own soul!
This is revival and I need it. To open my Bible and break-down the
promises, that is sweet work, but I also need the precepts. I need to live the
principles as well as rely on the promises. We will never have good growth in an
unholy church. We will never have revival without radical holiness.
The greatest power in the world, next to the ministry of the word, is
the holy living of Christian families and singles by the power of the Holy
Ghost. Let us plant holiness in this dark world of sin! This is the means whereby
people will really be conquered for Christ. What a challenge! I need you.
God give me grace, and sense enough to see I need wisdom to steer myself,
and this wisdom only comes from your word. I bend my knee to say, Lord, give
me a renewed heart and radical holiness today. Amen.

Gen. 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to
bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Dan. 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house;
and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three
times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

Psa. 13:3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the
sleep of death;

DEPTH of mercy! Can there be mercy still reserved for me?

Can my God His wrath forbear, me, the chief of sinners, spare?
I have long withstood His grace, long provoked Him to His face,
Would not hearken to His calls, grieved Him by a thousand falls.
I my Master have denied, I afresh have crucified,
And profaned His hallowed name, put Him to an open shame.
I have spilt His precious blood, trampled on the Son of God,
Filled with pangs unspeakable, I, who yet am not in hell!
Jesus speaks, and pleads His blood! He disarms the wrath of God;
Now my Fathers mercies move, justice lingers into love.
Whence to me this waste of love? Ask my advocate above!
See the cause in Jesus face, now before the throne of grace.
There for me the Savior stands, shows His wounds and spreads His hands.
God is love! I know, I feel; Jesus weeps and loves me still.
Now incline me to repent, let me now my sins lament,
Now my foul revolt deplore, weep, believe, and sin no more.
Charles Wesley, Hymns and Sacred Poems, 1740

O Holy Father:
Some aspects of spiritual life are not absolutely essential, but prayer is the
essence of our spirituality. How can we accomplish your Eternal Purpose if we
do not pray? Prayer draws-down your ear when you seem to stand far away.
Prayer breaks down the walls of random coincidence, and turns our entire lifes
journey into a play directed by Providence.
Dan. 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an
excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
An excellent spirit, abundant in prayer! Cant we be the same? Just as Daniel
remembered his people who were in exile, we are called to remember those who
are in bonds. How many are in prison who need to be prayed for! How many
addicted. It grieved Daniel that his city was laid waste. Does it grieve us the
destroyer, drug dealer, alcohol abuser, and sex trafficker stalks our streets? Oh,
that we might have listened at Daniels keyhole and heard his intercession!
Daniel mingled thanksgiving with all his prayers. We have such poor and
pitiful devotion when we are always praying, but never praising with a grateful
attitude. Prayers in which there are no thanksgivings are surely selfish things.
Prayer and praise are the process by which we accomplish your
Purpose. Prayer drinks in deep breaths of grace and love, and praise breathes it
out again. When sincere desire and longing are mingled with adoration, it forms a
sweet incense of many spices. Daniel was exalted to worldly prosperity, but he
knew he could stand in it only by prayer. Make us dare to be a Daniel! Amen.

LORD God and Life-Giver:

I know David must have prayed this more than once while in danger. And I
have ever-returning trials just like he did. Verses one and two repeat the question,
How Long? four times. Sometimes I mingle impatience with my desire for
deliverance. Oh for grace that, while I wait on you, I can be kept back from
a critical, complaining spirit!
Psa. 13:2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily?
how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
How long the day seems if my soul is cast-down within me. Let me lift the
voice of faith, O LORD my God! It is a glorious blessing that my position in Christ
is not destroyed by all my trials and sorrows.
Psa. 13:6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
My heart is more out of harmony than Davids harp, and I need to tune it
just as often! But prayer has now so refreshed me, I need to clear my throat for a
song. My joy can be all the greater because I have wept.
Psa. 13:5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
Because I am certain I have your word, your truth makes me sure. It is only
when I doubt the reality of my own trust in you that the windows of heaven are
blocked. So as the shipwrecked sailor clings to the mast, Lord let me cling to you,
because I am truly trusting in your mercy alone.
Faith makes music to you. Let my tongue keep time with my soul and
declare, I will sing unto the LORD. Thank you for always returning a song after I
sorrow. I praise you in Jesus holy name. Amen.

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

THIS WEEKS EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)

TITHEWORK

1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God
hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.
3)

TEAMWORD

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God)

Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
