Informational Awareness Sexual Attack


This is a campus advisory for the purpose of sharing information and to ensure
that the safety of all students, faculty and administration is maintained.

Informational Awareness
The Special Victims Unit of the Savannah
Chatham metro Police Department is
investigating a report of a sexual assault of a
teen-aged girl in the Cuyler-Brownsville area
early Sunday morning, April 26, 2015.

Unidentified B/M
Dark complexion
Approx. 57
Tall/Thin Build
Covered face with a
shirt.
Suspect may have been
watching the young girl
due to her having been
accosted at 4 AM while
taking her dog out.

The 14-year-old reported she let her dog


out in the yard near Hopkins Street and
West 44th Street Lane about 4 a.m. and then
followed it into the lane when it slipped
from its leash. There a male she had seen in
the lane grabbed her from behind. She
awakened on a porch with indications she
had possibly been sexually assaulted.

Suggested Actions:
All patrol officers should continue to conduct
extra patrols of the area and schools in the
vicinity.

This is a safety advisory for the purpose of alerting the Board of Education Police

On the morning of August 11, 2015 on


Florence Street in the area of 44th Street, a
female student while walking was
approached by a Black/Male subject
driving a Dark Colored SUV. The subject
attempted to engage the student in
conversation. The subject left the area
after noticing a couple nearby.
Anyone with information is asked to call
the Board of Education Campus Police at
(912) 395-5536.

Suggested Actions:
Patrol the vicinity of the incident
Any officers coming into contact with this
individual be sure to document the time,
place, and interaction
Monitor and report suspicious activity
Review safety/security plan
Review Emergency Operations plan

Informational Awareness Attempted Kidnapping


This is a safety advisory for the purpose of alerting the Board of Education
Police Department and Administration of an attempted kidnapping.

to
Metro
Police,
on
September 9, 2015, shortly after 8 a.m.
a 15-year-old was walking to school on
45th St near Cann Park area. While
walking the teenager encountered the
suspect that attempted to have a
conversation with the girl before lifting
her from the ground. She escaped his
grasp and ran away unharmed.

This is a safety advisory for the purpose of alerting the Board of Education
Police Department and Administration of a student attack.

According to Metro Police, on November 16,


2015, between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM, a 17year-old was walking home from school on
Clinch St between Hopkins and Stark streets.
While walking, two men in a white car
attempted to have a conversation with the girl
and persuade her to get in the car. When she
refused one of the men got out of the car and
tried to get her into the car. She escaped his
grasp and ran away unharmed.

Be responsible for your own safety. Take a minute to think


about the steps that you can take to keep yourself safe:
Dont talk to strangers.
Dont take anything from strangers.
Dont go anywhere with someone you dont know.
Stay more than an arms reach from strangers. If you are approached by a stranger,
seek help immediately.
Trust your instincts, if you feel you are being followed or something is not right, seek
help immediately.
Use the buddy system, avoid walking anywhere alone.
Dont take shortcuts and stay away from alleys.
Memorize contact telephone numbers and home safety practices.
When seeking help, always go to a trusted adult teacher, coach, police officer, other
parent, or older siblings.
If a stranger grabs you, do everything you can to stop him or her from pulling you
away. Drop to the ground, kick, hit, bite, and scream. Do whatever it takes to attract
the attention of others who can help you. If someone is dragging you away, scream,
this is not my dad, or this is not my mom.
Report any suspicious activity to your local school and police department.

Stay aware of your surroundings
at all times. Wearing earphones
will make you vulnerable.
Keep a mobile phone with you
and make sure that it is always
charged-up and that you have enough
credit. Use your phone to check-in
from time to time and let somebody know where you are,
who you're with, where you're going, the route you'll take
and when you will be back home or ready to be collected.
