Document Review
A professional legal review of high-volume documents in
connection with a contemplated business transaction or
pending litigation can result in exorbitant legal cost. Novadios
recognizes that an efficient utilization of resources can often
be the lynchpin to a company’s success in such scenarios, and
utilizing Novadios can save a company up to 90% in legal fees.
Novadios is able to conduct document review wherever,
whenever and however the customer requires.
Contracts Administration
The contracts administration service offered by Novadios is
intended to get the client’s house in order. Through this
service, Novadios will review, document, automate and track
existing contracts, including tracking key dates and deadlines,
monitoring and administering notice requirements, renewal
terms, and expiration dates. Novadios can do this as a self-
contained unit, or by operating alongside and enhancing an
existing contracts administration department and/or document
data system.
“As the ailing U.S. economy prompts companies to cut costs, it has also
spawned legal problems. As a result, clients are pressuring the law firms
they hire to trim fees. That means more routine work like legal research,
due diligence and document review is being done [overseas] at roughly half
the costs as in the U.S., outsourcers say.”
“It is a simple fact that law firms make the most money on their
junior- to mid-level associates. These people are kept busy doing a
variety of tasks, some complex, but many very simple. With rates of
first-year attorneys’ at large firms now at $300 or more, and with
work goals of about 1,900 to 2,100 hours per year/per associate, the
economics become clear. A first year associate may be worth
$600,000 or more in revenue during his or her first year of service.
Yet the fully loaded costs of such an associate is around $275,000 or
so. Keeping these people busy—at the client’s expense—is among
the highest of priorities within a major law firm.”
“Clients are pushing law firms like Jones Day and Kirkland & Ellis to
send basic legal tasks [offshore], where lawyers tag documents and
investigate takeover targets . . . . The firms are reacting to a trend
that will move about 50,000 U.S. legal jobs overseas by 2015,
according to Boston-based Forrester Research Inc.”
“Bar committees in New York City, San Diego County, and Los Angles County have ruled,
expressly or implicitly, that lawyers may contract with foreign lawyers not admitted to
practice in any jurisdiction in the United States, or with nonlawyers outside the United States,
to perform legal work for U.S. clients. These authorities hold that foreign legal outsourcing
does not constitute aiding the unauthorized practice of law.”
