The family of Pidge Permel wish to express our sincere gratitude
to all those who have supported us during this time of loss.
We found great comfort in your presence here today and appreciate
your thoughtfulness and prayers. We especially would also like to
acknowledge and offer our special thanks and gratitude to Ms.
Rebecca Morris for her devoted care of Pidge during his final months.

Pidge  passed  peacefully  from  this  life  on  the  morning  of  January  15th,
2010  after  a  gradual  decline  in  health.    He  was  surrounded  and
supported by his loving family and caregiver during the last days of his
life.    Pidge  was  born  Wilbert  Felix  Permel  to  Andreide  Solomon  and
Abraham  Permel,  on  St.  Paul  Street,  POS  and  grew  up  on  Duke  Street, O
Port  of  Spain.    He  made  Santa  Margarita,  St.  Augustine  his  home  in
1967.  B

He  attended  Nelson  Street  Boys,  and  Osmond  High  School.    He  later
studied at UWI Jamaica where he pursued a degree in Economics.  After I

working at the Crown Solicitors Office where he met his wife, he joined
the University of the West Indies in 1964 as Assistant Registrar (Labour
D

Relations). He resigned as Senior Assistant Registrar (Exams) in 1980 .    G

He  pursued  his  passion  for  financial  investment  in  the  years  following, R
E
investing  both  locally  and  abroad.    He  willingly  shared  his  knowledge
and savvy with anyone who showed an interest.  He will be remembered
Y

by  many  for  the  impact  he  had  on  their  financial  situation.  In  1990  he
returned  to  the  UWI  fold  as  Senior  Administrative  Officer  to  offer  his S
expertise in the development of the School of Dentistry.  He resigned in
1996  and  was  content  to  enjoy  his  gardening  and  grandchildren.  He
often spent his evenings at the SCR playing dominoes.

Pidge is survived by his wife Angela:  four children (and spouses): Louis B
(Shelly),  Neil  (Elizabeth),  Andrea  and  Ronald  (Chris);  seven
grandchildren: Candice, LA, Keren, Khadija, Jenai, Sarah and Alexa: and I
great grandson LeJean.

He was a beloved friend of Sylvia Mills, Doddridge Alleyne, Carlyle           
Adams,  Ossie Jeremie,    Knolly    Burton,   The  University Community  U
and many countless others to  whom he often              routinely  
and un‐hesitantly offered his guidance and                paternal

advice.  Pidge was able to straddle all  spheres              of society ;  R
he was one of the boys  on the street  and he  
was a statesman.   Y

We will all always remember him  
fondly with love and respect. 
In lieu of flowers, a collection will be taken up to assist in the Construction of the “Pidge Permel Auditorium” 
at D & D Educational Centre where his grand‐daughter Alexa and great grandson LeJean attend school.  
The family feels this would be the most appropriate honour, given his lifelong commitment to education.
