Section 3 > Insert the Wi-Fi SDIO Card, Connect to a Wireless Network
1. Insert the Wi-Fi SDIO Card into the SDIO slot of your PDA.
After the card is inserted, PocketPC 2003 will automatically search and display
names of all available Access Points. When the device sees an Access Point, a dialog
box will appear prompting you to select a network (an Access Point). If there are no
Access Points in range, no dialog box will appear and the green LED on the card will
keep flashing. When you are within range to an Access Point, the dialog box will
automatically appear.

2. Select the network (Access Point), and select "The Internet" option unless your
Network Administrator tells you otherwise. Click on "Connect".
3. If the Access Point requires additional security settings, another dialog box will
appear. Enter the WEP security key establish on your Access Point, or see your
Network Administrator.

4. Congratulations, you are now connected to a network. Next time you connect,
PocketPC 2003 will automatically detect the previous settings for the Access Point and
reconnect without repeating the initial setup process.

Section 4 > Icons, the LED and a Few Tips for Connecting
To help you connect and stay connected to a wireless network there is an indicator on
the card and a signal indicator on the task bar of PocketPC 2003.
1. Signal Indicator Icon - clicking on this icon will bring up the Wi-Fi Utility.
a. When the Signal Indicator Icon shows a green bar, this indicates you are
receiving a signal from an Access Point.

b. When the Signal Indicator Icon shows no bars, this indicates you are not
receiving a signal from an Access Point.

2. Connection Indicator, the green LED on the Wi-Fi SDIO Card just
below "VIGTools".
If the light from the Connection Indicator is blinking it means the card is not
receiving a signal from an Access Point or it cannot make a connection, please see
Utility Manual for help. If the light from the Connection Indicator is solid,
Congratulations, you are now connected to an Access Point.

3.

Remember to remove the card from the PDA when turning the PDA On or Off.

Profile Settings
There are two Tabs for you to configure your profile settings: Network Profile and
Authentication.
The Network Profile Tab contains the following options:

SSID (Access Point): to enter an SSID, this is the Network ID or Access

Point name. Check with your network administrator for SSID.
Type: Select either Peer-to-Peer or Access Point mode. By default, the network
type is in Access Point mode which is also called Infrastructure mode. Peerto-Peer mode is used for communication between two cards without an Access
Point.

Channel: Scroll to select a channel for communication. It is only selectable in

Peer-to-Peer mode where two or more stations must be in the same channel to
communicate. When connected to an Access Point, the Access Point dictates
the channel that will be used.
TX Rate: Transmission rate is selectable in the drop down list. The default
selection is Fully Automatic.
AP Search Threshold : This option allows you to choose the proper roaming
control. Choose from Low Density (default), Medium Density, and High
Density. By selecting a higher density option, your SD Wi-Fi card will roam to a
new Access Point with stronger signals easier.
OK: Confirm to make the setting changes on the profile.
Cancel: Cancel the setting changes on the profile.

The Authentication Tab contains the following options:
