Serena Williams
Serena Jameka Williams is an American professional tennis player
who is ranked No. 1 in women's singles tennis. The Women's
Tennis Association has ranked her world No. 1 in singles on six
separate occasions. She became the world No. 1 for the first time
on July 8, 2002, and achieved this ranking for the sixth time on
February 18, 2013. She is the reigning champion of the French
Open, Wimbledon and Olympic women's singles and doubles.
Williams is regarded by some commentators and sports writers as
the greatest female tennis player of all-time.

Sania Mirza
Sania Mirza (born 15 November 1986) is an Indian professional
tennis player who is currently ranked No. 1 in the women's
doubles rankings. From 2003 until her retirement from singles in
2013, she was ranked by the Women's Tennis Association as
India's No. 1 player, both in singles and doubles. Throughout her
career, Mirza has established herself as the most successful
female Indian tennis player ever and one of the highest-paid and
high-profile athletes in the country. Mirza was named one of the
"50 heroes of Asia" by Time in October 2005.[9] In March 2010,
The Economic Times named Mirza in the list of the "33 women
who made India proud".[10] She was appointed as the UN Women's
Goodwill Ambassador for South Asia during the event held to
mark the International Day to End Violence against Women on 25
November 2013.

BADMINTON
SAINA NEHWAL
Saina Nehwal ( pronunciation (helpinfo); born 17 March 1990) is
an Indian badminton player, former world no.1 in Women's Singles
.[10][11][12] She is the first Indian to win a medal in Badminton at the
Olympics.[13] She achieved this feat by winning the Bronze medal
at the London Olympics 2012 on 4 August 2012.[14] She is also the
first Indian after Prakash Padukone and the first Indian woman to
become world number 1 badminton player.[10] Besides these, she
is the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton
Championships and was also the first Indian to win a Super Series
tournament, by clinching the Indonesia Open on 21 June 2009.

Zhang Ning

Retired Chinese female professional badminton player Zhang Ning


was born on 19 May 1975 in Jinzhou, Liaoning, China, and is
widely regarded by many as the greatest female badminton
player of all time. She achieved the Olympic gold medal twice at
the womens singles event in both 2004 and 2008, and became
the only female player to win two consecutive Olympic singles
gold medals. Zhang Ning represented China in Uber Cup from
1994 to 2006. She achieved the French Open in 1994, Swedish
Open in 1996, Malaysia Open in 1998, Singapore Open in 2001
and Korea Open in 2002. Zhang Ning Also achieved the title of
World Badminton Grand Prix and Copenhagen Masters in 1998
and became the winner of the Asian Championships in 2001. She
won a silver medal at the 1998 All-England Championships and
won a bronze at the 2001 IBF World Championships.
HOCKEY

Ellen Hoog ([ox], born 26 March 1986[1]) is a Dutch female field hockey player and also a
member of the Netherlands women's national field hockey team, twice winning Olympic gold
with them.[2] She is also a member of the Amsterdamsche Hockey & Bandy Club.
In 2004 she made her debut in the national team. She has played 127 matches for the national
team in which she has scored 32 goals.[3]
In August 2005, she became European Champion in Dublin (IRL). In December of the same year
she won the Champions Trophy in Canberra (AUS) with the Dutch National Women's Team. She
was also part of the Dutch squad that became World Champion at the 2006 Women's Hockey
World Cup.

BOXING
Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom (born 1 March 1983[1]), known simply as Mary
Kom,[2] is a boxer from the Sino-Tibetan speaking Kom tribe in Manipur, representing
India. She is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and the only woman
boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. [3]
Nicknamed "Magnificent Mary", she is the only Indian woman boxer to have
qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51 kg)
category and winning the bronze medal.[4] She has also been ranked as No. 4 AIBA
World Women's Ranking Flyweight category. [5] She became the first Indian woman
boxer to get a Gold Medal in the Asian Games in 2014 in Incheon, South Korea. [6]

Ann Wolfe (born January 17, 1971) is an American female boxer who held world
titles in four different weight classes simultaneously. [1] Wolfe is regarded by many
within the sport as the hardest puncher and best fighter in the history of women's
boxing.[2] She's also a personal trainer and coach of several professional boxers,
including currently high-ranking junior-middleweight contender James Kirkland.[3]

SWIMMING
Kathleen Genevieve Ledecky (born March 17, 1997) is an American competition swimmer,
Olympic gold medalist, and nine-time world champion. She is the current world record-holder in
the 400-, 800-, and 1,500-meter freestyle (long course). She also holds the fastest-ever times in
the 500-, 1000-, and 1,650-yard freestyle events.
In her international debut at the 2012 Summer Olympics as a 15-year-old, Ledecky unexpectedly
won gold in the 800-meter freestyle in what was the second-fastest performance ever. In total,
she has won fifteen medals in major international competitions, all of them gold, spanning the
Summer Olympics, the World Championships, and the Pan Pacific Championships. During her
career, she has broken eleven world records.
Ledecky's success has earned her Swimming World's World Swimmer of the Year and the
American Swimmer of the Year awards in 2013, 2014 and 2015, as well as the FINA Swimmer
of the Year Award in 2013. Ledecky was also named the international female Champion of
Champions by L'quipe in 2014.

ATHLETES (TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES)

Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha (born 20 may 1964), popularly known as P. T. Usha, is


an Indian track and field athlete from the state of Kerala. P. T. Usha has been associated with
Indian athletics since 1979. She is regarded as one of the greatest athletes India has ever
produced and is often called the "queen of Indian track and field".[2] She is nicknamed the
Payyoli Express. Currently she runs the Usha School of Athletics at Koyilandy in Kerala. P. T.
Usha was born in the village of Payyoli, Kozhikode District, Kerala. In 1976 the Kerala State
Government started a Sports School for women, and Usha was chosen to represent her district.
